Romain Esse has been mentioned by a couple of friends. He is not in the squad for tonight's game and last season was a guaranteed substitute. Home grown as well.

I think there will be others with more Premier experience available after this round of fixtures. Everyone will be finalising their squads and planning their last minute deals. Managers will be having difficult conversations with those who they feel will benefit from loans, and those names will be quickly shared with interested parties.

They will try to sell others, but purchasing clubs should be able to negotiate loans with an option to buy.

2.) 28 Aug 2026 20:23:46
It's at Coventry, pal.

3.) 28 Aug 2026 23:52:56
Esse or Cozier-Duberry will be the winger singing, Simms top target for striker and Pope if Sa goes. They have no intention of spending big this window, so will be a couple of loans. Unlikely Mendes will be involved again this window unless it's to move Sa on.

It’s going to be Rob Edwards.

Pikey Wolf

1.) 06 Nov 2025 16:03:11
Does look like it Pikey, official approach to be made, apparently Jeff wants him. Personally I am not sure, however in our position we have to have whoever will come to some extent. Will wish hi the best if he does arrive.

2.) 06 Nov 2025 16:32:00
It does seem to look that way given recent media posts. Hopefully I'm wrong, but my gut feeling about getting Edwards is that we're preparing for competing in the championship as opposed to surviving in the Premiership!

3.) 06 Nov 2025 16:35:09
Nothing against him but we are looking more desperate by the day the club is so badly run we are beyond a joke now

4.) 06 Nov 2025 16:59:16
Maybe an acceptance that we will be relegated this time, I like Rob Edwards, however I always thought he may be a good manager and possible candidate in the future, not just yet. I hope I am wrong just can’t see us staying up this season, whoever comes in, if they manage to keep us up they would have done an incredible job.

5.) 06 Nov 2025 17:02:18
I don't see Edwards as preparing for the Championship, he's a good young manager, who yes has experience of getting teams promoted, but he also get teams playing on front foot, he coached in the premier league with a team of players who played at the lower level, yes they were relegated, but he spent nothing and got a tune out of bang average players, Luton always took teams on and never gave up, something that we all want to see down the Wolves, so if it Rob Edwards I will welcome him. the tried and tested foreign managers hasn't worked apart from NUNO, we have spent countless millions on players the last few years, yes we have sold a few also, but we have gone backwards, some of the football recently has been dire.

Time for a bit of a reset and grounding on where we are as a club, Edwards is a better option than the like of Ten Hag, he knows the club inside out, he has coached the younger teams, he knows fosun, and he knows English football and the premier league, so anyone saying he's no use needs to have another think. We would be lucky to get him in my opinion.

6.) 06 Nov 2025 18:06:48
Couldn't agree more Sydney Wolf. Luton took some scalps in their PL season, and finished 18th, only 6 points adrift from safely. Rob Edwards did a fantastic job in getting the motley bunch of Luton players promoted, for peanuts! Given his Wolves background and PL experience, I would back him.

If he joins us, that will indicate he believes he has a better chance of PL football next season with us, rather than with 'Boro. He might even persuade Hayden Hackney to join us in January.

7.) 06 Nov 2025 18:16:29
He's young, on the up, worked his way from youth football, probably wolves current squad will be the best players he has ever worked with. It may be a good move, I really don't know.

8.) 06 Nov 2025 19:22:25
However, we have been declined permission to speak to him

9.) 07 Nov 2025 15:32:42
Seems to be some movement today, if it is announced before tomorrows game, it may give the players a bit of a lift, if Rumours are to be true, we could have a good management team coming in.
Fingers crossed the rumours are true

10 Dec 2024 15:12:42
Apparently Uncle Jorge has been tasked with getting Jose to come for a £5M pay off going to Fenerbahce. I'd take this in a heartbeat!

Pikey Wolf

1.) 10 Dec 2024 16:58:49
Really, not sure I believe that to be honest?! To what end though as well? If we don't have the ambition to keep Lope do we really have the ambition to keep Jose?!

2.) 10 Dec 2024 17:03:59
Just reporting what's all over Irish media over here Bullys. It is a rumour site after all.

3.) 10 Dec 2024 17:16:17
Haha, OK Pikey then I'll start a rumour Stan Cullis to be cloned and bought back to the club! I for one can't wait to get him back in the dugout! In Cullis we trust, it is a rumour site after all ??

4.) 10 Dec 2024 18:29:40
Yep, but that's not reported in the media anywhere is it Bully. There's at least two sites over here that are reporting what I posted. [c.newsnow.co.uk/A/1254894395?-300:786] ?

5.) 10 Dec 2024 22:00:39
Newsnow is not the media, it is merely an aggregate site for click bait! They basically come up with outlandish stories (usually that peeps want to be true) so as to drag them in to look at their cheap pop ups! To be frank if that's your media 'source' then I suspect the Cullis option is about as likely! Like ya say though it is a rumour site so let just pretend/hope it's true eh ??

26 Nov 2024 15:26:52
If we actually sell Ait Nouri for the reported fee of £30M to Man U or Liverpool I will be disgusted with Fosun's business acumen and it will prove my thoughts that they're cashing in before they sell. He's undoubtedly worth at least £50M in today's market.

Pikey Wolf

1.) 26 Nov 2024 16:34:30
It's all media bullsh*t.

We sold Nunes for £50m+, Kilman for £40m+ so I'm sure Fosun will get the right price for AIT

2.) 26 Nov 2024 18:50:08
Sorry Pikey Wolf, but RAN isn't worth £50m. He's OK going forward has the occasional deft touch and knows where the oppositions goal is, but out weighing this is his inadequacy in defence. He loses the ball with over-playing/poor passes around the half way line 2 or 3 times a game. In my opinion he's been pretty much responsible for at least 7 of the goals against so far this season.

3.) 26 Nov 2024 19:53:46
Yeh but if we sell to liverpool or suchlike they will use him correctly and turn him into a 60mil.player.going fwd there aren't many better.same as t.a.a.ready made replacement for lpool.so hold out for 50mil.easy

{Ed001's Note - TAA plays on the right, hardly a ready made replacement.}

4.) 26 Nov 2024 22:18:30
Sorry but I'm with East here, £50m is a LOT of money for a defender that can't defend! Without a massive change in his defensive attributes I genuinely don't believe a big club will even be in for him! He's great at going past people by that alone is not enough for modern full backs ?

5.) 27 Nov 2024 15:23:57
Well whatever we sell him for, we've got to pay Angers 50% of the profit. So if we sold him for £30m we'd have to take off the £10m we paid for him and give £10m to his former club.

Hardly seems worth it.

6.) 27 Nov 2024 17:10:59
v good thread with lots of excellent contributions!
I agree with lots of bits and disagree with quite a few as well
It's interesting to see posters's views though and great that this contentious/multi faceted issue has created some unusual alliances/agreements.
Firstly undeniably RAN is not a strong defensive full back - but is that ability, ( don't think so - see Salah game last year), attitude, (is he careless and casual in possession or simply too ambitious or optimistic/out of kilter re his colleagues) or tactics, (like Doherty before him RAN is often out of position but as with Doherty is that because the manager wants him to bomb on?).
However I think it is a little harsh to underplay his offensive capabilities. He isn't just good he is amazingly good.
In a better team that could give him a freer role - like TAA at Liverpool albeit RAN is left sided not right - and who could cover his defensive weakness he would be extremely valuable.
Breaking teams down is incredibly hard even for the top sides and RAN is as good as any (except perhaps TAA) defender at doing so. Even at a weak club who don't score many he has more goals and assists (5) so far this season than any other defender in the league.
Consequently I would hope we would get significantly more than £30m.
Clearly at a better side his weaknesses would diminish in importance, ( top teams are forced to defend far less anyway and RAN's shortcomings could be covered), but his strength would become more obvious as his team would have more of the ball and the opposition would not be able to devote as much time and energy to defend him.
He might therefore be even more successful going forwards.
On the next point however sadly whilst we got great prices for Kilman and Nunes we got terrible ones for Neves, Neto and Traore. Consequently I can't be certain that we will extract more than £30m regardless of what I feel about his ability, cf for example Kilman.
Finally Wandering if we get above £20m we would simply buy out the 50% option, (Liam Keen confirmed recently that it is not on profits but sales price and we still have the option at £9.5m.)
So if we sell at £30m we buy out the option for £9.5m and keep £20.5m.

7.) 27 Nov 2024 20:47:48
Is it really worth it then?

We paid £9.5m for him so if we sell him for £30m without buying out the 50% clause, we make £10.25m profit.

If we do pay the £9.5m buy out clause and sell him for £30m then we would make £11m profit.

8.) 27 Nov 2024 21:04:38
Wandering - NO!
Firstly you are confusing cash and profits
Secondly you are ignoring/don't understand amortisation.
Please find a friend who can explain football finances to you as I don't have the time or energy to keep this up!

9.) 27 Nov 2024 22:12:45
I do understand maths. We pay £9.5m We sell for £30m = £20.5m profit.

But as you say we leave the clause in place so that means we give £10.25m to Angers.

Or we pay Angers the £9.5m buy out fee so we have paid £9.5m for the player plus £9.5 to Angers so £19m in total. We sell for £30m so that means £11m profit.

Please explain what Amortisation is as I understand it to be the action or process of reducing or paying off a debt with regular payments.

So although we may be paying any transfer fee/buyout fee over a period of time, the bottom line is that we will still pay the asking/agreed price.

And before you try and insult me again by saying I should ask someone who understands, I have whereas you clearly haven't hence you thinking we lost £107m last year.

10.) 28 Nov 2024 07:19:11
Amortisation is a form of depreciation. The cost value of the asset is reduced for every year of a assets economic life. In the case of football players his contract. So if a player costs £10m and he initially signs a 4 year contract, his value on the books is reduced every year bt £2.5m and the reduced value is used against the sale value to calculate the profit. Also in the case of RAN, from what future appears to be saying, we would have to pay back 50% of the sales value, not the profit made. So if we sold for £30m we have to pay over £15m not £10m

Trippier on the bench for Sheff Utd. Assuming all is well, he will be fit for the Baggies; Thank God!

Pikey Wolf

1.) 11 Sep 2026 19:00:04
How do you know this?

2.) 11 Sep 2026 21:04:07
Cesar Peixoto said that they were both back training and could be on the bench for the game on Sunday. He also said Rafiki Said is due to restart training on the grass next week and should be available in the next few weeks.

3.) 11 Sep 2026 22:22:21
Anyone want to still tell us about how our squad is every bit as good as WHU? Not a chance. Same old, same old clubs don't find their form till they play/win against us. ?

4.) 12 Sep 2026 08:57:24
We may not have the best squad in the league, but as long as we win our games, I don't really care about the likes of West Ham. Yes, the table looks bad at the moment, as West Ham are 6 points ahead of us and have just trounced Wrexham 6-0, but we have played 2 games less.

5 games is too early to write off this team, considering our only loss is to, according to some, the vastly superior team.

5.) 12 Sep 2026 11:13:38
BB - The squad is obviously not, but the first 11 probably are not that far away.
The problems are that the first 11 contain at least 2 old boys, unlikely to be able to play week in week out, and, of course, will inevitably suffer injuries/suspensions, and, as stated, the squad/depth is woefully inadequate.
To be honest, though, I am a natural bear, and I thought things would be far worse than they are.
The manager is def getting more out of them offensively, and keeping Andre and Krejci, albeit the latter seemingly not wholly willingly, is a major fillip to the prospects of the team.

The signings of James, Trippier and Raul, acknowledging the latter 2 have question marks over their durability, were also very positive.
Add in the emergence of Djiga and, especially, Lopez, and things are def better than they could have been.

6.) 12 Sep 2026 12:36:17
I defo agree, TFG, that things are better than they could have been and also better than some had predicted. However, from what I've seen so far I'm not entirely convinced that we have a defence up to finishing in the auto promo spots, and anything less basically means a lottery come the end of the season. Also, let's be clear here, West Ham's squad at the start of this season really was vastly superior to ours, and the stats show it. They finished on almost double the points we managed last season (and arguably should have stayed up, but that's a debate for Nuno to face). Then there's transfers, West Ham sold players off to the tune of £186m, whilst despite our best efforts to drum up business we mustered a tiny £36m (those are just up front payments and don't take extras into account on both fronts)!
So other clubs judged their one midfielder (Fernandez) to be worth well over double that of our club's best player (Gomes), so let's be realistic here, 'cause the numbers don't lie.
Still, though, I'm not sure where I said I was writing anyone off. I just think the realities of this league are already starting to sink in.

I had one or two just a week or so ago telling me we had the best squad in the league, and it wasn't true then or now!
We have let in some seriously weak goals already, and that needs to stop, and it needs to stop next game. Clean sheets are important in any league, and if we keep defending corners in the way we have then we won't get many this season.
Despite our defensive woes, I worry just as much about our attack. I don't especially rate Piroe, but he already looks like a perfect striker for this league. Meanwhile, we have Armstrong taking rugby conversions in front of open goals!
Like many are saying, I think we have a very big month ahead. Win a few games and build up some steam, and we should start kicking on. Lose most of them or don't turn up against the Baggies, and the wheels might start to come off very quickly! Let's hope Cesar has been working them on the training ground and we finally look capable of defending a corner, because a win and a clean sheet on Sunday would go a long way to getting us all looking up the table again. ?

7.) 12 Sep 2026 19:16:57
BB, I certainly wasn't being critical of your, as always, v sensible post.
You basically make 4/5 points, all of which are fairly obviously true.
WHU squad at the start of the summer was axiomatically far better than Wolves.
After the summer, it is pretty clear that it still is, although, as I have said, Wolves' first 11 is in the conversation.
Their sales were amazingly better than Wolves - just watched a v v ordinary Fernandez - until he was hooked!
If he is worth more than twice Gomes, WHU would not have been relegated!
However, this has been discussed till the cows come home, and sadly the cruel reality is that Wolves simply sell players v v badly, and everyone knows it, so it continues!
Wolves have been v poor defensively - especially on crosses/corners - but it should now improve with Trippier, Krejci and Sa returning to bolster the defence.

Offensively, Wolves can do better - although it hasn't been too bad - and, with James and Raul getting fitter and contributing more, this should also improve.
Finally, of course, it is a big month, and wins are def required to keep Wolves in touch with the league's top sides.

Makes you wonder why Beckham was awarded a knighthood and Kevin wasn't!

3.) 21 Jul 2026 16:48:30
David Beckham was knighted by King Charles in recognition of his services to sport and charity. The honor acknowledges his extensive football career - including 115 England caps - and his decades of philanthropic work, notably as a longstanding Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and an ambassador for The King's Foundation. Or did that just slip you by?

4.) 21 Jul 2026 16:43:16
Probably due to his UNICEF work, that goes unocticed by Philistines like yourself!

5.) 21 Jul 2026 19:28:00
UNICEF, eh? Better get him canonised as well.

Today is the highly anticipated, historic opening day of the 48-team FIFA World Cup. or as we call it in Ireland, Thursday.

Pikey Wolf

1.) 11 Jun 2026 16:54:11
I'm based in England and couldn't give a monkey's arse about the World Cup. The sight of Trump's hair or Ronaldo puffing his cheeks, readying himself for one of his useless free kicks, is enough to make a sewage farm worker chuck up. Also, half the games are on between 11pm and 5am. The sooner it's done, the better.

2.) 11 Jun 2026 17:27:49
Couldn't agree more, clapped out.

3.) 11 Jun 2026 17:29:20

05 Jun 2026 10:24:25
So Re has come out and said without doubt a back four. So how do people see the rest of the formation going? Personally I'd like to see 4-2-3-1.

Pikey Wolf

1.) 05 Jun 2026 12:31:01
There is no need for other clubs to spy on Wolves training, as Rob has already given them the information.

2.) 05 Jun 2026 12:19:00
It'd be a good old 442 for me pikey. Big ask on some, but with the right players we can get the best of everything entertaining.

3.) 05 Jun 2026 14:34:23
I think it will be 4-2-3-1. Wolves have to move away from five at the back. It hasn't worked for years. Great when you have rapid, talented wingbacks, awful when you don't. What Traore lacked in crossing ability, he made up for with incredible speed and dribbling skills.

4.) 05 Jun 2026 14:40:52
It might not have worked for years, clapped out (we had a zodiac!), but every time we've reverted to a 4 we've been even worse! You obviously need the right mix of players for both systems.

5.) 05 Jun 2026 15:47:15
Does that mean we won't be playing our 9=1 formation any more.

6.) 06 Jun 2026 19:22:31
Wish I had a Zodiac, Wulf. Love that car.
