Talking Wolves reporting a “strong possibility” that John Ruddy rejoins. Would that be on a free? If so, no problem with it whatsoever, decent hg back up in my opinion.
1.) 25 Aug 2026 12:10:51
He left Newcastle months ago so he's a free agent.
2.) 25 Aug 2026 13:38:16
Big John would be an excellent signing. Not only a damn good keeper, but a great bloke to have on the training pitch and in the dressing room, very vocal, very enthusiastic. It wouldn't be a bad move to bring him back, then get him his training badges. He could turn out to be a good long-term asset to the squad.
16 Aug 2026 14:17:01
Anyone know if we're actually signing Jordan James or not?
1.) 16 Aug 2026 15:47:35
News suggesting WH might hijack Ilkley, I reckon he'd have been in by now, if the earlier reports were accurate.
2.) 16 Aug 2026 16:05:03
One report said he prefers a London club. Shame if it's true, because we desperately need that sort of signing. A goalkeeper must be a top priority if Sa is not staying. Surely we have better CBs than played Friday; our worst defender wears the captain's armband. Why do Wolves fans have to suffer this same indignity every transfer window?
3.) 16 Aug 2026 16:24:19
Different Shi.. same Fosun!

Apparently Rui vitoria is now being considered for head coach. Won a couple of titles with Benfica a few years ago I think. Has a very similar feeling to the appointment of Vitor pereira in that he’s a little know coach and was also recently in Saudi so he’s been around a bit.
1.) 05 Nov 2025 21:00:08
Mendes client I think.
2.) 06 Nov 2025 10:27:08
Rui Vitoria is a client of Agency Idoloassis Futebol based in Lisbon and Oporto, Portugal.
No connection to Gestifute or Jorge Mendes.
3.) 06 Nov 2025 12:06:06
Thanks for clarification oap wulfrunian.
4.) 06 Nov 2025 12:58:36
Being touted as the ‘next Nuno’. Reminds me of the old car sales advert when the guy is shutting the car door and listening carefully before smiling at the potential buyers and saying “it sounds like a golf!” ?
31 Aug 2025 12:13:55
Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira says striker Jorgen Strand Larsen "will stay with us" after sitting out the loss to Everton amid two rejected bids from Newcastle. BBC sport
1.) 31 Aug 2025 12:49:07
Still need a CB, x2 cms, x2 forwards.
Interesting the links with so many midfielders and forwards.
Still think we need pace in the forwards they didn't offer enough yesterday.
R Gomez was arguably the standout sub after Jackson couldn't get anything to stick 2nd half.
2.) 31 Aug 2025 13:19:00
Japhet Tanganga, no?
3.) 31 Aug 2025 14:07:08
We could buy Tanganga but he won't be able to play for us until next season so why bother.
Under specific FIFA regulations, a player can be registered with a maximum of three clubs in a single season but is only eligible to play in official matches for a maximum of two clubs.
4.) 31 Aug 2025 14:26:25
If Tanganga had been of interest we would have already signed him before Sheffield Utd. Personally I thought we should have got him particularly with the fee being an absolute bargain!
5.) 31 Aug 2025 14:51:13
Thought fer lopes was quality of the bench yesterday looking to link up the play and drive us forward
6.) 31 Aug 2025 15:07:21
Honestly I think just stay up with defence being Toti LCB Agbadou CB Krejci RCB
Then we can sign Japhet Tanganga in summer 2026. Probably around £10~£15 million. I think Sheffield United are going down, I watched Tanganga yesterday, best man on the pitch.
Japhet Tanganga to Wolverhampton Wanderers
£12 million
Sometime next summer
Sheffield Utd relegated
He wants to leave
Done deal!
7.) 31 Aug 2025 16:36:23
No way should Toti be near the starting 11.
8.) 31 Aug 2025 17:16:46
Why would you want a defender relegated to league 1?
Sounds daft to me.
9.) 31 Aug 2025 17:17:40
As Ken points out above Wolves clearly have no interest in Tanganga as he could have been purchased at any time over the summer for peanuts.
Whilst I accept that if he has a blindingly good season Wolves may change their minds but I would imagine that it is unlikely that they will purchase him any time soon for 10x the amount he could have been acquired for this summer.
10.) 31 Aug 2025 17:29:13
Madman I don't disagree.
The defence looks v concerning - what has happened to Emmanuel.
Andre and Gomes are struggling and surely need a back up/alternative.
But perhaps the greatest need is a goal scoring 9/10.
Maybe changing to a 3, 4, 1, 2 formation will help as Arias - who is supposed to be carrying the team in his role as Cunha's replacement - looks lost out wide but might be better behind 2 forwards?.
11.) 31 Aug 2025 18:13:23
So which centre back do we sign? Krejci~ not good enough
Nobody is good enough at this club
So yes, tell me who we should sign ahead of Japhet Tanganga.?
12.) 31 Aug 2025 18:41:07
I can only hope that you are very very wrong as Wolves are paying 20x the fee that would have obtained Tangnaga for Krejci.
If you have read the board over the summer you will see I have also been proposing Tanganga all summer. For the fee, and home grown, he was in my view a "no brainer" but the club clearly disagrees with us both.
Having made that call though it would be a massive embarrassment to then pay 10x+ the fee they could have for the player a few months later so sadly I just can't see it happening!
With respect to your q though finding a cb better than those the club currently has should not be difficult. The pool currently consists of S Bueno - no where near good enough, Doherty - beaten by father time, Yerson, permanently injured, Toti - v v modest and needs hand holding, Krejci yet to play a game in the Prem and Emanuel who has seemingly lost his way!
Far from a satisfactory position!
13.) 31 Aug 2025 19:06:53
Personally I would have signed Veiga for around £26m but he has gone to Spain. Yes for weeks he was quoted at £35m but ended up going to Almeria for £26m. However he has a really poor attitude to training. Which may be the reason Wolves avoided it.
I think Disasi (linked with every club) and Lloyd Kelly wouldn't be bad options we need competition for cb and RCB. I have nothing against Krejci think he will develop the next few months and it is a strength having two left footed cbs.
My comment regarding Tanganga was why would we sign a cb that is relegated to league 1? We should be aiming to move higher up the league.
TFIOG really not sure on Emmanuel? Strange how it has dropped off so much hopelly Vitor can get it right with the team during the break.
The midfield is interesting I think both are the target of the opposition press so we need forwards to move and offer outlets for Sa and the defence to play long. Or Arias and Marshall need to come short so the defence can go over the first press by the opposition.
Absolutely we need someone like Yuri Alberto. Hopefully Tolu is a similar player to Aghehowa in that he is strong and a complete forward offering a different solution to what we have. I still think we need pace as that could be an outlet for a long ball out of defence.
In terms of the formation it's not so much a concern for me I think we just need a little bit of time to develop the connections between the different players I'm sure they will come good.
A CB, CM and forward would be ideal though.
14.) 31 Aug 2025 19:17:31
Toti and Hwang are liabilities, they just aren't good enough for this league.
How Toti got the armband is beyond me'its unbelievable if I'm honest.
The leadership in that squad must be paper thin if he's the most commanding one there.
I can only think the reason Gomes hasn't taken it is because he's always on the edge of getting sent off due to how he plays the game.
15.) 31 Aug 2025 19:38:04
Madman - completely agree re Veiga.
I have been told on here that apparently the fee is low as Chelsea retain significant interest/control in/over the player?
16.) 31 Aug 2025 21:16:42
But veiga is at Juventus. Next year Tanganga. Right the future is gold?
17.) 31 Aug 2025 22:07:57
But Tanganga isn't ready to play week in week out in the prem similar to Djiga (who has played CL by the way).
Djiga and Tanganga wouldn't be good enough over a season. I have doubts over Mosquera as well.
CB required urgently to provide cover for RCB or CB.
18.) 01 Sep 2025 01:59:26
Free agent CB cover Jason Denayer
Ex Celtic Lyon man city player
Belgium international
Superb player! And then Tanganga next summer!
19.) 01 Sep 2025 02:08:00
What about Takehiro Tomiyasu?
He’s free!

Bloody hell. What happens if Hugo gets injured tonight? Is Toti gonnna have to play left back? Don’t understand why we’ve let Moller Wolfe leave so late in the window, without having signed a decent backup. That said, I reckon Amass is a decent option if we do sign him, and homegrown too.
Big game though, and not one you want to go into with no backup left back, especially when having to play against Jarrod Bowen. Think it maye we’ll be high scoring, just hope fer Lopez can do the business once more.
1.) 01 Sep 2026 19:01:22
Lima and Kreiji on bench, so we could cover, albeit sticking plaster stuff ilkley.
Yes, Kreiji on bench and Santi. Has the former got over his hissy fit?
25 Aug 2026 18:51:22
Saheed Olagunju. Great game.
1.) 25 Aug 2026 20:40:22
Half time review of performance to date:
Considering the percentage of play we have had, the fact that we are way behind on shots and shots on target sums up our problems. It is unlikely we will rack up many efforts on goal if we continue to pass backwards more than we do forward. Surely they can be told to try to play forward. Both our goals were down to hesitancy by their defenders, who could and should have cleared the ball.
Positives: Sa's handling - more often than not he holds on to the ball rather than palm or punch, which Johnston tends to do.
Centre backs have both played well. Lima quite good. Moller Wolfe doesn't look like he wants to be here. Midfield okay, but James disappointing so far. Front three are not getting the best of service, as midfield are not committing their defenders with progressive runs. Hoping to see James doing more of that in the second half.
Would like to see subs given a run out after 60/65 minutes.
2.) 25 Aug 2026 20:53:34
James definitely looks as though he's not had a pre-season, and needs to lose some timber.
3.) 25 Aug 2026 21:39:20
Moller Wolfe much better second half. Traore has played well, either keeping him on to be in shop window or looking to keep him. Given that James will take some time to get up to speed, might be worth keeping. Raul looks rusty, to be expected after W C exploits. Mane was anonymous. Lost opportunity for some, chance to get some goals against a poor Wednesday team.
Olagunju had a good game. Looked comfortable on the ball and good in the air. Goal on his debut was a real plus.
Fer Lopes is the one player whose first thought is to play forward. Others need to follow his lead. Hoping James, when fit, will also drive into space in front of him.
4.) 26 Aug 2026 11:58:31
Hey, what about Wolfe's headed attempt from 20yrds? If that'd sneaked in, it'd have been hailed as a beauty. Dunno if that was his intention, but I enjoyed the moment.
19 Aug 2026 13:23:00
Does Jordan James count as homegrown?
1.) 19 Aug 2026 15:15:03
Yes, he does llkey, although he is a Welsh international.
2.) 19 Aug 2026 16:45:00
I always feel like Welsh, Scottish and Irish players should be considered home grown.
3.) 19 Aug 2026 17:14:10
Players from any nationality can be considered homegrown if they registered for any team affiliated in the English leagues for three years between 17-21 (please see Hugo Bueno). So Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham, etc., would still count. Scottish leagues would not. ?
15 Aug 2026 11:47:49
Tough introduction last night, but first half, I thought we looked the better team, Fer Lopez absolutely ran the show. However, second half, we seemed to end up just going long and not trying to play through them, as we did in the first half. I think it was stupid to have no subs left with 10 to go, as Lima in particular felt like a somewhat pointless substitution, which meant we practically ended with ten men. But, a great way for Raul to return home nonetheless with that late equaliser. I think we’re still 4 or 5 signing away from a side capable of winning the league, including 2 cbs, a lb, and a winger, as I thought Mane looked both lazy (not tracking for the first goal) and ineffective.
I also think a new gk should be signed unless Sa stays. I think Sa would have saved the first goal, not saying Bentley should have, but Sa loves to save a close range header, and think that one he would have got too. So, it’s not all doom and gloom, but I still think we need more signings to challenge this season. Hopefully last night was just a wake up call for the lads, as some of them (Andre in particular) seemed to be a little bit slow, as if they thought the champ would be easier.
1.) 15 Aug 2026 13:30:39
The biggest issue we have is Bentley, Mosquera and Toti, as they are not good enough when played together. Leaves us wide open.
I can't understand why each manager we have still makes the same mistakes with the starting line ups.
Subs last night were just ridiculous.
The last 20 mins we had no shape, no composure (except Raul for pen) and no idea.
Why Trippier is not captain beggars belief.
2.) 15 Aug 2026 14:52:23
Very much agree on Trippier, Camo. I thought the second half was too similar to the end of last season. Not knowing what to do with the ball, and just passing it along the back line.
.
12 Aug 2026 14:42:42
Never seen Jordan James play, but one of my mates (a sheff u fan so presumably unbiased) seems to rate him, but he went down with a decent (on paper) Leicester side last season. So, is he a good signing, and what are his strengths/weaknesses?
1.) 12 Aug 2026 15:09:54
Similarly, I've not seen him play, but scoring 10 goals from midfield for a team which was relegated can't be bad! From what I've read, he's more of an attack-minded midfielder with a good eye for a through ball.
If true, that's precisely what we need! Now, we just need half a new back line, and we might just have a team to worry the rest of the league. ?
2.) 12 Aug 2026 15:41:53
Bullys, he's a box to box MF with an eye for goal, good at late runs into the box, has a good shot from outside the box, and can put a shift in and battle defensively. Basically, a very good all-rounder, with Munetsi levels of energy, but way more skill.
Not sure why it didn't work out in France, but maybe he just struggled to adapt to the lifestyle and being away from home, as he seems keen to stick around the Midlands.
3.) 12 Aug 2026 15:49:58
Sounds perfect! Only other question: why aren't prem teams sniffing around then?
4.) 12 Aug 2026 17:15:42
Ilkley, apparently pre-World Cup, a few were (Fulham and Palace level rather than top 6), but seem to have moved onto other targets.
5.) 13 Aug 2026 12:22:26
Sounds good to me, Flea buddy. We defo need a cm that can carry the ball and create problems for the defence. ?
12 Sep 2026 14:05:21
Lex, what are you on about, two-man midfield? Also, we've had only 5 games this season, and have looked decent, playing attacking football, so surely too early to judge if he's a good or bad manager, and if we're gonna lose, at least it's entertaining.
30 Aug 2026 12:39:16
Chirewa, sorry, trust my autocorrect!!
30 Aug 2026 12:20:22
I would have done this time last week. However, after a poor first two games, Mane had Ben Johnson (who has been a pl player) completely on toast yesterday, and his work for Roddy's second was ridiculous. Also, unless we signed another winger, that would probably lead to Churros starting at lw, which I don't think is a good enough option.
30 Aug 2026 11:54:03
Defender, I'd expect.
29 Aug 2026 20:53:47
Wolfe is already second fiddle as well.
11 Sep 2026 19:00:04
How do you know this?
07 Sep 2026 21:53:08
I do think Armstrong is very hard working. He always seems to be making runs, but doesn't often get the ball. However, Ronevo, I agree with your other points and that miss was shocking.
05 Sep 2026 09:39:08
Isn't that the tune of bully's song as well?
02 Sep 2026 16:26:25
