Jimeniez is our main striker who aint really getting the service or really playing that well.
But is signature song is important to our support.
Surely that was bad management selection.
Do they think he needs game time.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to post the ratings.
I only saw the first half but pretty much agree with everything you wrote.
I thought Doyle and slow Traore were both excellent but like you was a little underwhelmed by James - a shame as he has looked good in his cameos so far.

Fantastic game, even Everton fans saying they where lucky. play like that against baggies no problem
3-0.

Time to leave the pub, Moby, if you think that was fantastic. Insipid would be my assessment. We played ok in parts but the team will be very different come Sunday.

Only saw the first half so can't be too definitive but the, (makeshift), side looked ok.
Doyle once again impressed and defensively it was far from bad - Virginia looked solid!
However creativity was v lacking and it was no surprise that the side failed to score.
Although goals so far this season have been plentiful I am not convinced that this has been through any sort of plan rather moments of brilliance by Lopez - who the side is v reliant on - or opportunism by Gomes R - who has also done v well.

Without Raul - who despite being off the pace looks miles ahead of Armstrong playing at 9, Armstrong is surely better playing off a 9 not as the 9 - the attack looks toothless and i am concerned where the goals will come from
Thoughts?

On paper goals are a concern but with the lower quality opposition more goals will come from non strikers as has been shown to date. Additionally, Bellegarde looked good in his cameo and he's likely to weigh in too when fully fit. I'd like to see us have more idea from set pieces but at least delivery should be good when Trippier is on the pitch.

I agree with all you've said there tfig3, we needed Raul on the pitch and unfortunately we'll be without him Sunday now.
I was surprised to see him start last night and Everton seemed to be 'concentrated' on him and it was no wonder the injury came.
Armstrong is too short for a target player and will have to have balls to run onto, fer and ricardo may provide these, and Bertrand starts he certainly can spot a chance.

I thought our passing was again 'off the mark' last night, too far or behind and, (a pet hate of mine), players waiting for the ball rather than moving to collect it. Chirawa in particular at times and Mane when he's out left.

Neave really impressed me and maybe he'll develop into a real gem.
Oh well, not a shock or big disappointment last night and fighting for places can only be good, does Virginia start after that showing last night? Or Sa with his experience in the heat of a Derby?

We'll be a different side Sunday, it'll be a different style of game but one thing we won't be beaten on is our support, who, last night were superb vocally and yet again put the opposition to shame.
We'll done those who went, to hear the chants and songs over me tv makes me feel that I'm not at home alone. COYW.

Of course i'm gutted about Raul being injured but if you look on X you'd think it's end of the world.
Armstrong knows what this derby is he'll be fired up, Neave looks decent, Trippier also knows how important a derby is.

Agreed. Also Raul hasn't looked as sharp as he was in the WC. I'm more concerned about our defence tbh

Thought Krejci was immense last night however (and Konan was ok), so hopefully he, Tripper Djigga and Bueno all start on Sunday.

Neave was another bright spark alongside Virginia but perhaps BCD is too big an occasion for him between the sticks.

Armstrong and Mane need to up their game too cos alongside Rodrigo that's the sum total of our attack right there - thanks again Fosun

Roll on the weekend!

Mane should be on the bench for me, he is a weakness in the team and he is one of the reasons why we are so bad on the left. Last night's game shows we have better players to be put in the team and will improve us overall.

17 Sep 2026 10:55:58
Mane has a lot to learn so benching him might be a good idea. I think during last season he got hyped so much it clearly got to his head. I can see he is a good player but has to do better with the basics of football.

I would like to personally see Bueno pushed up into that position and he will also help defend unlike Mane.

I'm with you on that Alex, Konan LB Hugo on the left and we'll run the left side, balls in low or high and Hugo can hit a shot too.

I suspect Raul may have asked to play, or at least asked for some game time, I'm struggling for another explanation.

Considering Armstrong wasn't very impressive against prem sides last season it made sense to me to start Raul who probably still feels he's a prem player. Had we just played a second rate team all over the pitch undoubtably some would have said why not try in the cup. Always a difficult one for managers to judge or get right.

I agree rauls injury is a concern and yes Cesar may have made a mistake playing him but let's not let it distract from the fact that he hasn't exactly pulled up any trees yet, so let's not let it distract from what is a big big game on Sunday,

Not too fussed about the loss because we played quite well. Virginia looks like a safe pair of hands. Good for him to prove he was worth signing.

On to West Brom now. Would have liked to have Raul playing against them but Neave looks good.

16 Sep 2026 20:37:22
All those moaning about us signing Virginia, how's that humble pie tasting so far?

6

17 Sep 2026 07:06:07
Don't recall anyone moaning about his signing in particular, I think it was more to do with the lack of outfield signings. but anyways agree he was fantastic last night.

16 Sep 2026 21:48:03
Not disappointed at all with losing tonight tbh a lot of positives from that.

16 Sep 2026 21:56:12
Apart from Raul, but Armstrong has to step up now which he is more than capable of doing and also Neave has great pace and looked good.

4

16 Sep 2026 22:08:01
Virginia very good wouldn't mind him starting over Sa tbh.
Konan looked solid too.
Even Toti looked ok tonight.

16 Sep 2026 22:29:37
Thought everyone did well, except for one! I hope I never see his face ever again! Worst 'player' I've seen in 60 years of being a Wolves fan! FWAW.

The biggest bollock drop of any wolves manager playing raul tonight. that's just given the undateables all the energy they need Sunday.playing raul in a cup we weren't ever getting any further was indefensible. these mistakes will cost us. what you reckon rated ????

and Rodrigo !!!

16 Sep 2026 20:38:35
Virginia keeps this up, Sa may not be starting on Sunday, so far quite impressed with Virginia, Neave looks handy too.

3

16 Sep 2026 20:46:13
Well hope Raul is OK, Virginia is showing his worth, Konan looks like he's got potential, I'm liking Neave, get mane on second half and move it abit quicker with some accuracy and we might nick it.

We've given a good showing, as a championship team, so far, and watching it on tablet our supporters are the best. COYW.

Loads of positives tonight.
Virginia, Konan, Boubacar Traore, Neave, Bellegarde. Djiga. Not many of those are starters but they certainly all put themselves in the frame. As well as positives there were some question marks. Thought Toti was too easily turned for the goal.

Not seen anything from Jordan James yet and tonight's performance raised more questions than answers from him. Trippier is class and will be key player, if we are to mount a challenge.
I think some of those who impressed tonight could well have a massive impact off the bench on Sunday.

Good solid performance considering how many changes we made. Virginia looked solid and could actually keep hold of the ball more than Sa. Commanding in the box and quicker reactions. I know he will be dropped for the weekend but judging from that performance he won't be waiting long to take the spot.

Neave surprised me with how quick and strong he is. Newcastle have got a very good player for the future. I would 100% give him a good 30 mins or more at the weekend.

It was great to see Bellegarde back on the pitch. Very good at carrying the ball and makes things happen.

Overall all the players that don't get much minutes did really well and should take many positives from that game. Only negative was Toti poor defending as usual.

Interesting line up, according to the bbc B Traore is playing and on the bench. Unless I missed another Traore being signed.
