Genuine question. Will we be doing more business? For me if we get a goalkeeper and a winger I'd be happy. With Munetsi, Lopez, Doyle and Sasa coming back in.
06 Aug 2026 07:36:41
I think we have to be realistic. Any player out there who is worth looking at will be attracting attention from a number of clubs, not just Wolves, so there will always be a contest for his signature, that is, assuming that his parent club is even open to offers.
The chances of finding a real bargain are slim given how comprehensive the scouting networks of most clubs are.
What is most important is that we spend wisely and not have a knee jerk moment like we have in the past to our regret.
06 Aug 2026 10:15:51
Generally speaking, I agree, Derry, but this is also why I find it so entirely bizarre that Bristol City got Ballard virtually uncontested! He was going for very cheap (I suspect around £4m), and is an absolute bargain at 21 for that price. 😭
06 Aug 2026 10:49:18
Ballard is an odd one. How did he get overlooked? Probably, a League One striker having a great season doesn't register on the Richter scale. Jamie Vardy was in non-league before Leicester, so you have to scout far and wide. You can't judge a book by its cover.
Of course, Moxey turned down signing Varley for Wolves at £1mil.
Orient fans are devastated with the sale of Ballard. Same as when we bemoaned the sale of Cunha, etc. But Orient are after
Jaze Kabia, who scored 23 goals for Grimsby last season, so good luck to them.

Does anyone know if there's still a match day blog.
06 Aug 2026 11:20:03
I think with the players West Ham & Burnley, who were both better than us last season, and the players Boro are signing, we definitely need to add 4 or 5 good players worthy of getting straight into the starting 11. As it stands, we've got Bentley, who couldn't get his place at Bristol. Mosquera, who is always walking a tightrope. Munetsi, who runs but little else. And then we look at possible injuries to players like Raul.
Where's the goals gonna come from? It's only my opinion, so don't shoot me down, but if we struggle the first 2 games, and only a couple of weeks of the transfer window left, we're gonna end up with panic buys. We have no worthy cover in crucial positions, and as I speak, it looks like Boro are making another good signing. We'll see soon enough, I suppose. Forever Wolves, though.
06 Aug 2026 15:53:11
You know the score, Lexluna. Limits to size of squad, we have to sell or loan 'em out first. All things being equal, we still have plenty of time.
06 Aug 2026 22:31:48
You're right, Deep, but I'm getting a little worried now.
05 Aug 2026 23:04:10
Hi guys. Don’t want to sound doom and gloom but the season is just over a week away and we have spent hardly anything so far. Jimenez and Trippier great signings on frees but where is the ambition? We knew we were down months ago. What happened to the planning and recruitment?
06 Aug 2026 00:26:45
Kenzie, you are sounding doom and gloom with your comments and lack of paying attention. Read the multitude of banter posts over the last couple of weeks, and you will get more answers and thoughts regarding your questions.
Why must we spend heavily on players? You seem upset we got Raul & Trippier so cheap! That is good business. Doyle, Munetsi, Djiga, Fer Lopez and Sasa, coming back from loans, are like new players.
We did spend to get Said. That is essentially 8 new players. Look at the squad today vs the end of last season. I don't see the doom & gloom reasoning yet, especially since we dropped down to the Championship. I think we are in a better position than we were, and the transfer window continues for a couple more weeks to possibly get more reinforcements.
06 Aug 2026 08:38:22
The season starts tomorrow. I've not watched any of the pre-season games, but from what I've read, Peixoto has changed the style of play, using the majority of players that were here last season.
To me, it seems to be a Michael Carrick/Man Utd situation where a new manager comes in and utilises the same players in a different way.
Hopefully, new players will come in who can improve the squad, but we'll have to wait and see.
06 Aug 2026 13:05:38
By all accounts, us being in the champ means there are more televised games on SKY for us to watch if we can't get to a match. 🥳
New manager eager to play attacking football, quality new players, returning healthy players... Settle in, people, Wolves are about to go hunting! 🐺 😉
06 Aug 2026 13:51:02
Don't book any sat/sun lunches, Bos, and make sure you got the Sky app. There'll be mostly 12-1230 kos. Some on plus, I'd imagine.
It's ideal for me tho.
05 Aug 2026 19:34:18
Don't know how you pronounce new manager's name.
Break it down, call him oxo.
06 Aug 2026 14:24:23
PXoto.
06 Aug 2026 14:37:41
What about 'Caesar'?
06 Aug 2026 22:33:59
Wouldn't worry too much about his name, it will probably be a different one in the New Year.
05 Aug 2026 16:49:21
Have we got a sell on clause for Pedro Neto? With all the talk of him going to Blue Moon Cheats.
Also how do you pronounce Peixoto 😂
05 Aug 2026 18:46:43
Pay- show- toe? That's how I'm doing it anyway.
05 Aug 2026 18:47:34
I think we've got a 95% sell-on clause.
Peejoto.
05 Aug 2026 22:37:33
Pexoto.
05 Aug 2026 13:19:24
Peixoto is hinting at there being lots of changes at Wolves. The club is running out of time, so it's going to go to the wire. Next week might be busy.
Who is realistically going to leave?
Obviously Ki-Jana however is going to leave. Who else? Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone?

Interesting article on the BBC website this morning about transfer activity. By and large, due to the World Cup and summer holidays for World Cup players, there is a bottleneck. Once the big boys start getting their wheeling and dealing done, the second half of August will generally see a burst of activity.
We have 27 days until the transfer window closes. For Wolves, incomings will depend upon outgoings. CP will have to box clever, and even sanction free transfers, to create room in the squad. In the meantime, his methods are bearing fruit in the friendlies. I have more hope than this time last year.
05 Aug 2026 15:54:34
I found it intriguing that Peixoto said he wanted a leadership group with 4 or 5 captains, and then named Trippier, Toti, Raul, and Andre as 4 of the 5. No mention of Krejci, who is the captain of his nation and was the captain at Sparta Prague. This, I think, is a sign that he will soon be gone.
05 Aug 2026 16:31:45
The transfer 'burst of activity' predicted by the BBC looks like it's starting early. My local club, Chelsea, just put 11 players up for sale. This will ripple up and down the food chain, and maybe create opportunities for Wolves further down the pecking order.
05 Aug 2026 18:10:37
I don't think Wolves want to sell Krejci, but they don't want to keep a player who is unhappy. However, I think there is an agreement between the two parties that unless Wolves get the right price, Krejci will stay. After all, Krejci will know that if he stays and puts in the right performances, he could get his move in January.
The difference is only a matter of months.
That might be why Peixoto is talking about possibly having five captains, when he's only named four. He's leaving that last slot for Krejci should he stay. He did make Krejci captain for the morning behind closed doors friendly.
04 Aug 2026 23:21:33
I'm gona put it out there but is Kretji that good? I ain't seen that much of him to say he's top quality.
05 Aug 2026 00:44:51
Krejci hasn't been used in his best position while at Wolves, so it's difficult to know his high potential. But, based on his versatility and more consistent play, he was one of our better players last year.
I think his World Cup play showcased his abilities more. That's one reason Wolves are holding out for more transfer fees. He will be a great asset to the club that gets him.
05 Aug 2026 09:01:35
I think the fact he is captain for his country says a lot. Like NJWolf says, we've no way of seeing the best of him, or what he's capable of.
05 Aug 2026 09:53:14
I agree with NJWolf.
05 Aug 2026 10:31:57
Is he one who refuses to play in the Championship? Can't blame him once he's been on the world stage. 🤷🏼♂️
He must have a queue outside his door!
05 Aug 2026 10:39:00
It's reported that Wolves have too many centre halves and need to sell before they secure a new cb from Peixote's old team. We're looking for a new midfielder, but again need to sell before we buy. There could be a simple answer, and one that gives us more flexibility.
Show intent, and prove to Krejci that we are going for promotions, and play him in midfield as he does for his country. Then, when the accident that we know is going to happen - Mosquera being sent off - we have the ready-made answer on the pitch.
05 Aug 2026 10:53:16
I agree he's a strong player. Even in a woeful defence (last season), his reading of the game and positioning were excellent. Not sure what you mean about the midfield stuff, though, Penko, as he very clearly started as a CB for the entire WC.
He was on the left-hand side of a back three. He said himself when he signed that he's a CB that can play in midfield and not the other way round. Either way, if we are serious about building a squad, we should be doing so around him and Andre. 👍
05 Aug 2026 12:34:29
I'd read that he was originally a central midfielder - I stand corrected, BullysBoy, but I still believe we should build around Krejci, Trippier, H Beuno, R Gomes, Andre, Fer Lopez, Raul, Mane - lacking a goalkeeper, forward and a quick centre half.
Mosquera, if he cuts out his nonsense and plays to the whistle instead of feigning injury, has the makings of a good, solid player, but 10 bookings and the inevitable red card once or twice a season makes him the accident waiting to happen.
The players that don't want to be at Wolves should take a long, hard look at themselves in the mirror. They simply didn't perform, and all the moaning in the world isn't going to get another team to fork out and provide a lifeline elsewhere. Performance related contracts are rife in business, why not in sport.
05 Aug 2026 15:49:10
No worries, Penko, mate, I think you are right (in that he was originally a cm), but he seems to be best as a CB these days. 👍
05 Aug 2026 21:16:35
Penko and BB, agree with your views on Krejci, and Penko, def agree re your idea of the core of the side.
Sa (or new if he can't be persuaded/get his head in gear).
Trippier
Yerson
Krejci/new
Bueno/Wolfe
Andre
new/Krejci
Mane
Lopez
Gomes/Armstrong
Raul
But a very thin bench?
04 Aug 2026 22:38:33
We should have gone after Ballard last season, League 1 top scorer, going to Bristol City.
05 Aug 2026 00:26:49
Agreed, watch him quadruple in value within the next 12 months! We never learn. 🙄
05 Aug 2026 17:22:02
Cheap and home grown!
04 Aug 2026 22:35:49
Middlesbrough apparently signing Radek Vitek would of been good for us.
04 Aug 2026 15:30:07
Wolves and Stade de Reims have reportedly enquired about Levski Sofia goalkeeper Svetoslav Vutsov.
The player is not open to a move to Reims due to less playing time opportunity there.
04 Aug 2026 20:40:08
Wolves Fancast have posted the following:
As per our tweet on the 26th July.
Andrew Ventura of Flamengo and Nelson Deossa are the players Wolves are interested in.
Wolves are not idle in their pursuits, but lots of moving pieces still to be resolved around player exits and the home-grown player quota.
04 Aug 2026 13:19:49
Looking at Yersons goal, what a beauty.
That's what we need, attacking play, crosses in the box.
If we can perform like that, no worries.
Up the wolves.
Hope all you wolves fans enjoy 1st
Match.
Have to miss 1st match but never mind.
04 Aug 2026 14:33:07
That Wolves goal was a thing of beauty. Raul must be looking forward to pinpoint corners like that. Reminded me of our early Fosun glory days.
05 Aug 2026 10:35:10
If Trippier continues to deliver and the strikers don't get in each other's way, we'll kill 'em. 😂
04 Aug 2026 10:59:30
If Sasa stays he could be a big player for us.
04 Aug 2026 12:33:34
Big physically, yes. In terms of attributes, in the last 3 seasons he's scored 8 goals and had two injuries, which could end a career early! Not sure what part of any of that suggests he's about to take the league by storm? Add to that, he doesn't even want to be at the club, and seemingly no one even wants to bid for him!
