It's been an interesting start to the season.
3 wins and a draw whilst playing fairly well!
3 things to acknowledge.
1. The new manager seems to be getting far more out of the squad than the previous manager (s) have.
2. Fer Lopez has been a revelation.
3. The quality of opposition is far lower than I had suspected would be the case.
Obviously all 3 are correlated.
On paper the squad contains some of the best players in the league.
Whatever you think about Sa and Krejci and their commitment, they - especially Krejci, assuming he stays - are top class at this level.
Trippier and Raul - although with question marks over their ability to go 46 games week in week out - should be head and shoulders above anything else in the division this season in their positions.
Andre will be one of the very best players in the division whilst Lopez and possibly/hopefully James will be up there as well.
Add in H Bueno, Yerson and Armstrong - more than competent at this level - plus young talents like Mane and Gomes R and it is ridiculous.
Obviously even with severe qs over depth this squad should be far too good for the Championship.
However, and this is the tragic part of it, the squad/side is barely improved from the one cast adrift last season, {many of you won't like that statement but there are only 4 changes from last season - 2 old boys jettisoned as too old for the Prem, and 2 youngsters who may or may not be able to step up. The Rest were totally out of their depth last season!} and if it doesn't go up this year will almost certainly be torn down.
Andre, Raul and Trippier are one year options - the latter two obviously won't play in the Prem regardless - and Lopez, James and Krejci will probably have to be sold to keep within the ever tightening SCR rules - parachute payments decline sharply after the first season.
So whilst it's great winning games, and a corner seems to have been turned this year, the club has one year to grow into a sustainable one both on and off the pitch.
Sadly this summer, whilst clearly adequate for the short term job at hand, has been hugely underwhelming in respect of both those aims.
Consequently the last few days of the window will also be interesting - let's hope they aren't also underwhelming.

How's everyone liking the black kit that just got released?
27 Aug 2026 22:24:18
Black one is sweet, just like the other two! These three should be our standard Every year. No more of the ridiculous colors. Let the goalies use those odd color schemes.
27 Aug 2026 20:25:00
I don't normally agree with 'The third kit' as it costs enough just to follow the team, But IMO this black kit is a stunner. Pretty sure this one will sell well.

Oxleymoorwolf, quick question, are you Gary Poyton on X? Because you both are similar in your negativity.

Things, at last, are starting to look a bit better, early days I realise, however the style of play looks much better, there is a purpose.
Players who looked awful last season are looking better, Jackson, Toti, in particular in the league game looked different players.
Only 1 game but much better, Lopez has started the season very well, Sa looks happy to be here, I think anyway.
Still think we could do with a few more signings in, 1 CB (unless Krejci stays) another winger and ideally a back up striker.
Onwards and upwards. 🤞👍

Sa might not be so happy now, but he's got some decent competition to maintain performances against. But yes, I agree with you, Banksy. A CB is essential, a winger, maybe, but if Bruno and Lopez Kreiji all stay, we'll be looking good.
We've scored 7 now in the last 3, but I'm not happy that we haven't converted more.
We've had some luck in 3/4 of those goals, and Fer has worked his solo magic on the others.
I know Raul hasn't featured much, but we need that dominant CF figure.
Stoke will test us on Saturday, I'm sure, and maybe it'll have come together more then. We'll see.

As you say, Banksy, an encouraging start. Definitely more attack minded than last season's dross, so credit to CP for that.
Lopez has been a revelation, so it will be interesting to see if they have already put a price tag on him. Personally, I still don't trust Fosun, so time will tell.
27 Aug 2026 16:59:05
Stoke, I agree, will be a tough game.
Don't think any of us will trust Fosun for a long time. Let us see what happens between now and the end of the transfer window. I really hope for no silly sales.

Reece Nelson left Arsenal.
What do we think, going for him?
27 Aug 2026 18:27:03
Reece Nelson would be great if we could get him. I agree, good shout.

Definitely the type of profile we should be considering, Greyleg, promising kids not quite breaking through in top sides, and looking to kick start their career. With so many clubs in the London area, I suspect he will want to stay local though.

Welcome back, John Ruddy, who has completed his move to Wolves.

Be coming back. 😂😂😂😂

Credit where it’s due, Wolves have really sorted the goalkeeping dept. Sa as first choice is superb, and Wolves have two excellent back up keepers. Fantastic to see John Ruddy come back. He’ll be a massive positive influence around the club.
All Wolves need to do now is get rid of the remaining deadwood and players who don’t want to be at the club.
It would be nice for Wolves to buy a right winger and a left sided centre back.

Reckon cup match against Everton
Will be a good test for the lads.
I would go for a 2-1.
Either way.

Has Kai-Jan however left Wolves?
27 Aug 2026 11:21:20
Yes. To Sparta.

****** Predictive text! Thank you.

Do we have any updates on Tripper and Mosquera and when they will be back all fit?
Let hope in the cup run we can at least come semi finalist, if we make the right signings and keep players fit.
27 Aug 2026 14:27:33
At the time, it was said to be around 4-6 weeks. I would expect about another 2-3 weeks now, but with the break coming up, I would give them that time to make sure they are fully fit again.
