What positions would you like to see us recruit for our starting 11?
Personally think we need a new GK, experienced CB, and attacking midfielder. We could do with other players but these 3 positions I think are most important.
Are there any rumours around? Cesar does seem to suggest new players will be coming, just hope he is correct. 🤞👍

Banksy, completely agree - said so several times.
Perhaps, more depth in wide areas, but you said first 11.

If we won the Premiership.
Everything we could.
Euro.
Some fans would still not be happy.
Think positive.
When you have been going to Wolves.
Think now about 64yrs.
I have seen some really bad times.
I thought that once we where going out of existence.
Then along came our saviour Steve Bull.
We didn't have a great team then.
But they didn't give up.

Us loyal fans turned up and gave them support no matter what.
Us older supporters have seen.
This club go from wooden stands.
Old North Bank.
To what we have today it's not great.
But I have seen worse.
It's hope these players need.
Not doom & gloom when they go a goal down.
So come on cheer the lads on.
Show them your support

Must have been there the same time. 68 now, and seen good and bad. The bad times, losing to Chorley, nearly going out of business, the Bhatti brothers, cold winter games, in the Waterloo Road, North and South Bank, to name but a few. Good times, the Millennium Stadium on the day we returned to the top flight, Sunday afternoon at the Old Wembley, winning the Sherpa Van. Beating Leeds to prevent the double, and every victory against the Tescos.
I was fortunate enough to lie next to the goals, home and away, while my dear dad took photos for the Express and Star, a totally different outlook on games.

Back to the present, I have a good feeling about Cesar, but at the end of the day that comes down to the owners, and surely they can't let us down again, can they? Personally I can't wait for Friday night, with a near full Molineux, rocking, like only Molineux can. A good result from a tight game and I will be happy. Winning breeds confidence, so no moaning, let's get behind the boys, and roar them onward and upward.

08 Aug 2026 13:58:08
When was the last time we won 3-0 or better twice in a row, in friendlies or cup or league?

08 Aug 2026 14:05:17
Two words stand out in your post, WillowWolf1, and they are 'near full'.
It's a boom time for football, with top clubs having 60,000 plus stadiums and 100,000 on their season ticket waiting list, while we haven't had a sell out crowd for a couple of seasons now.
The owners promised the earth, and couldn't or wouldn't deliver.

They have given us no proper explanation of why we have dropped from 'best of the rest' in seventh place, down to the mediocrity of the Championship, and what has happened to the money generated by selling many Champions League-level players, including all of our previous captains.

Some of these people on this site
Just need to calm down & not have a break down. If the pressure of watching the Wolves is to much for you.
You should not attend as your spoiling the enjoyment of true & loyal serving fans.

If you have a comment be polite.
It's start of season. We won
Against Port Vale
It doesn't batter how
We won
If we had lost then moan.
Support the lads & cheer them on.

Well said, Moby. Yes, we are not world beaters, but an improvement on last season's dross, and with virtually the same players. Obviously, we need a quality keeper and centre-back, maybe a strong box-to-box midfielder. Maybe we should give our strikers a chance, cos if the supply is better, then the goals will come.

To moan about the manager not having a plan B, when they are still growing into the new system, is plain madness. I, for one, am more confident than at the end of last season.
Maybe last night was about trying to please our fans, but surely, at this stage, results are more important. Onward and upward.

08 Aug 2026 13:43:49
Need to be realistic this season. A lot of mess to fix from previous seasons won't happen between May and September. On the pitch, it's one game at a time. It may be difficult at times this year, and we may be pleasantly surprised.

If things don't go so well, we need to stop chopping and changing managers, and accept the mess takes time to resolve. If we somehow stroll to the title, we have to accept that going back up is difficult, and there are cracks beneath the surface that still need addressing.

Off the pitch, we need communication and action from the owners. I get, financially, the club are stuck in the transfer market with needing to move players on, financial rules, and home-grown quotas. We also need to see some positive steps taken with the ground. This is a good year to show intent there.

The truth is, some fans have moaned about the owners since day one. They moaned about Morgan too. Unfortunately, the current owners, after delivering some relative success, are scoring too many avoidable own goals.

08 Aug 2026 07:51:24
On the positive side we scored 3, Trippier can take set pieces and our attack looks better, Lopez, R. Gomes and Mane in particular.
Unfortunately our GK and both CB to me look awful. Maybe Mosquera would be better with someone of better ability than Toti next to him.

Not sure why Toti is in the side, let alone captain. Was poor last season, looked the same last night.
Munetsi just runs about with no effect on anything.
Hopefully Cesar now realises we desperately need additions.

v good summary.

08 Aug 2026 09:22:15
Good summary. On the non footballing side, did anyone try and order food/drink at half time?
What a shambles in the upper tier, NB, anyway. Queue to order your food via a keypad system (similar to McDonald's), get an order No. Then queue again at the collection point, only to be told that they've run out of the items you've ordered!
When I asked for a refund, the eyes went blank, as nobody seemed to know what to do.

It wasn't just me either. Not sure if this is something just introduced, or has been there for a while, as I don't usually eat or drink at the ground, as it's too expensive, but what a shambles.

08 Aug 2026 09:39:13
Great to win... and very comfortable.
On the plus side, I have watched Trippier live twice now. He is head and shoulders above most of the others. Andre is better than the Championship, and Mane and Lopez are also quality.

Raul will also prove to be a real asset.
However, the Central Defence is not even Championship standard. We need a decent creative midfielder, another winger, and a strong CF backup option... Oh, and a GK.

Completely ordinary, not impressed. Mosquera easily best player. FWAW

07 Aug 2026 23:09:23
Yeah. Still, the Doom & Gloom crowd is still active since we didn't score 10!

08 Aug 2026 00:32:50
No, if you can't see what's blaringly obvious, then you have a problem. We've played a League 2 side that could & should have been 2 nil up. Score 10 or we moan? Do you know anything about football whatsoever cus I'm thinking you're a 'We've won & doesn't matter how' fan. In reality, this team are not gonna be challenging for promotion. Goalkeeper who couldn't get his place at Bristol City.

Toti is at best low average. Mosquera spends more time arguing with officials than playing football. Munetsi is the Scooby Doo of football, cus he keeps running but gets nowhere. Raul and Trippier are on their own up to now. Sorry, pal, but you are very deluded if you think this team will be challenging for promotion. Unhappy if we don't score 10? Behave yourself, lad.

08 Aug 2026 01:37:38
Hmmm. I guess somebody is having a little temper tantrum. Maybe you should sit in the corner, until you learn how to have a conversation with adults in the room. You talk a lot of smack, since you are invisible on here, but that is ok. I can take it. But, if you can't control your emotions, and have reasonable dialogue with opposing points of view, you should not be on here.

I never said we were ready for promotion. My point was already that people are moaning about this or that.

No game is perfect. No player makes all the perfect plays. The opposition usually has some opportunities to score. The difference, many times in games, is the finish. We won that battle tonight. Be happy for once, instead of whining about what wasn't good. I'm sure Peixoto and staff will review the good and the bad from the game. New manager & several new players to learn, so this will take some time to gel, and for everyone to realize if we have a chance to promote or not.

So, behave yourself.

08 Aug 2026 01:50:03
Tbf, if we win every week, I won't care how.

In all seriousness, it's a banana peel avoided. On to the next, which should give us more of an idea of how we will do. I never understand the people who can, with such certainty, say things like we won't challenge for promotion.

Who knows what will happen? Maybe we sign a few decent players. Maybe all the players we have improve. No point writing it off, as you never know what can happen. It may be unlikely, but it's more enjoyable to have hope. Otherwise, what's the point.

08 Aug 2026 02:16:22
Btw I agree with probably every other Wolves fan regarding Toti. He isn't good. I have hope that he can handle this level, but not confident at all. He definitely is not PL ability. I hope we find a left foot CB to replace him.

Jackson T confuses me. He has such speed but doesn't use it to blow by defenders. I hope he moves on, since he won't use his greatest asset.

Hopefully we don't see Hwang again. Enough said.

Munetsi isn't skilled, but his endurance could be beneficial to Peixoto's planned pressing style.

Mosquero just needs to keep his trap shut and not expect a foul every time he gets bumped. I think he can be solid overall.

Not sure about Doyle as a starter, but he has his moments and can make a tidy through ball pass at times.

Bentley isn't a #1, but right now all we got. I would prefer Johnstone or another keeper, but definitely not Sa again.

Everyone else I'm ok with.

Just my humble opinions...

08 Aug 2026 06:16:30
If we were simply happy with a 3-0 win against lower league opposition, that would be that, but there was a lot to worry about in the performance tonight. We could and should have been at least 1 down in the opening pushes from Port Vale, the bar and Bentley's body preventing others.
Toti was the Toti we know, slow, unpredictable and, quite frankly, a loner at times, and he was captain. Thank goodness we've got Tripper looking across.
Mosq enjoys his game, but is always on the verge of seeing red (literally), arms flailing in protests, no idea what he says.
This pairing at the back will be ripped apart.
Deija isn't the answer, and I'd bet on Kreiji leaving, problem number one.
Munetsi, there's a puzzle. No doubting his commitment, no doubting his fitness, he can run and run, but where to, what for and for what product? Doyler has the thing Mutetsi hasn't, but not the command or strength.
That's problem number two.

Those, for me, are the two priorities in any transfer incoming: strengthen the back, strengthen midfield, and we're getting the spine of a team. Raul showed in that one shot what he'll provide up front, so that leaves us with Bentley as a starting point to the backbone.
I'm not overly concerned there. Yes, he's not perfect, and I'd prefer Sa should he stay, but I've seen worse GKs. He's not the quickest thinking, maybe, but I suppose it's about risk taking and whether we can afford to take it.
Also, am I the only one who is now finding CPs style a bit boring? It's becoming predictable at times, and as seen early on last night, if teams get stuck in and hound us into early ball play block, we'll get caught out.
3-0, next round, game out the way, nothing that anyone wouldn't have expected. Move on, hope to have at least two recruits, and see how Blackburn test us next week. We may not be so happy.

08 Aug 2026 08:32:50
Abbey, good post.
It is amazing how many posters are saying the same thing.
(Actually it's not because it is obvious, what is amazing is that the club doesn't seem to see it!)
GK, LCB and CM are the 3 problems, plus perhaps some depth, especially in the Wide Forward areas.
Sa, Krejci and of course J Gomes would have been the soln's, but clearly Gomes had to go both for his sake and to enable the club to meet those pesky financial rules.
I know many don't agree, but I'd be perfectly happy to take a short term soln by picking up another one or two in the Trippier and Raul mould - players obviously far too good for this level but on their last legs and so a one season or two at most gig!
The obvious one is Tyrone Mings - not a free but a modest fee and wages prob in the region of the other two - he is younger but has had injuries!
All in he will cost far less than Santi who appears to be the obvious one to shift on unless you can find a Portuguese team that wants to buy Toti!
Mings is a LCB and thus allows Krejci to move into CM and/or adds depth.

Given HG concerns, his HG status helps as well.

08 Aug 2026 08:47:36
I'm confused, Abbey. You are bored with attacking football, you don't want five at the back. What system should we play? Kick and rush Sunday morning football. Would you be happy with that?

08 Aug 2026 09:09:56
PS, my comment on cost of Mings v Bueno was: Mings amort plus wages would be less than Bueno's amort and wages PLUS his transfer sale fee (divided over the length of Mings' contract, which I assume would be 2 years!). Obviously, Mings will cost more than Bueno in fees and wages paid, but not once the Bueno fee received is added on!

08 Aug 2026 09:21:59
NJ, I am def in the doom and gloom camp - having seen the on and off field performance crater so spectacularly since Seville, I don't think that is unreasonable.
However, I have absolutely no beef with those who wish to take a more positive, or just different, view.
What I suppose gets me is those posters who simply moan - as your first post did - "don't moan" with no positive or alternative view.
You then wrote a sensible piece that I completely agree with, although some might have found it a bit doom and gloom.
I hope that we can all see the positives.

I am having to rethink Lopez, for example, and perhaps others might place more weight on them and believe they counter the negatives more than others do. But it seems some posters can't even be bothered to explain what they see as positives; they just like to moan about moaners, or moan about moaners pointing out the negatives.
Maybe we all need to be more balanced and less emotional in our posts, as hopefully we are all fans, and in any case it is merely a talking shop, and Nathan/Jeff certainly aren't going to be quaking in their boots regardless of what is written.

08 Aug 2026 10:00:16
Doom and gloom merchant = a caring fan of over 60 year's who's shed tears at our demise but still went home and away. I suppose visibly crying on the south bank at our inevitable drop to the 4th division makes me a doom and groomers.

08 Aug 2026 11:55:03
B Hill, I'm not bored with attacking football. I'm worried we're becoming predictable, and others will have us sussed, push on us, and exploit gaps. Bored was the wrong wording.

08 Aug 2026 16:43:30
TFIG, I love reading your posts, but you cannot take emotion out of being a football fan. It is what drives us, the elation of a good win is great medicine for the soul.

07 Aug 2026 21:44:43
Didn't play badly put they should av score 2 first half and missed a pen looks a good scoreline but could of been a lot woree... I think we can't defend with Toti and Mosqera as main cbs.

07 Aug 2026 22:17:16
As I have been saying for a while now, Toti is simply not a very good footballer.
However, if he stays, Krejci and Yerson will be ok despite Yerson's occasional wobbles.
Replace Munetsi with a footballer who can run and cope physically - not sure that is Doyle - and you can afford Lopez as a less aggressive but more creative CM.

Raul, with Armstrong as backup, is fine.
Ps, well done, Bentley, but Sa (if staying and in the correct mental state), should start.
Pps, Bueno v Wolfe is also an issue, especially in a 4, but the HG status of Bueno, sadly, is relevant even if it might not give the best outcome in football terms.

07 Aug 2026 22:37:40
Toti was awful tonight. The team should be led by either an experienced, vocal player (Trippier), or someone who can lead by example and has an aura about them (Raul), or someone in between (Andre).

Tonight's selection confirmed that Krejci and Jackson are not part of the longer-term plans.

Clearly, the squad is still a work in progress, but at least we didn't always pass the ball backwards.

07 Aug 2026 21:40:57
Well, good result tonight, three goals and a clean sheet. Andre was perfect in that midfield and Trippier is class, Fer Lopez could be something special. Armstrong was great as was Hugo.

Great to see Doyle and Raul back in old gold. But and it’s a big but, this central defenders are a liability and I just hope we have plans to replace them and soon. Need another goal keeper.

07 Aug 2026 22:19:17
Totally agree, random... Mosquera and Toti are gonna be our c halves as it stands, & at least 7 or 7 Championship sides will murder them. That's League 2 we've played tonight, so only my opinion, but 2 c halves, winger & attacking midfielder needed urgently.

07 Aug 2026 19:09:48
Krejci named on bench today?
Toti captain??
Sa and Raul are both on the bench but haven't been back long so not sure what that means?
Net, net the side is pretty much the same as last year - but just a little bit worse!
So, so much to do, so little time.

Is this the worst transfer window of the Fosun era - albeit with a few weeks to go - and it has been a pretty competitive field over the past few years!
