Hi all

Unpopular opinion but i think we will recruit well this year and retain more of the players who currently think will leave (some of them won't have options to leave they think)

New GK (Freddie woodman Liverpool 3rd choice)build it around a young keeper liek Burnley did with Trafford

New RB
Convince Santi to stay
Toti will be great in champ
Wolfe will stay

Tommy Doyle - champ experience and forward passes
New combatative athletic CDM

Rodrigo - RM
Mane - LM (inverted like MGW at Forest role)

Armstrong
off Raul Jimenez (that's the signing that galvenises fans & owners) and whatever wages cost will get back in shirt sales / season ticket renewals

Keep DOC as squad player experience and homegrown
JRB option Cm or RM/LM
Djiga back as 4th CB - raw but what's alternative for him sell him cheap
Bouba as back up CDM
Enzo Gonzalez back up winger
Sasa back up striker / option of bench
Edozie

Sign

Experienced CB on way down - Adam Webster (Brighton) leader
New FB who can play either side - Trippier would be a good shout and have set pieces and leader
New exciting raw wide player - someone like Chiqinho
Tap into Loan market well
Experienced No 2 GK to step in if yound Gk dips in form

And, as long as Toti stays, we'll struggle. He's useless.

19 May 2026 14:27:47
So Wolves are keeping pretty much their entire squad? Most of the players have proven they're not worth a tripe supper.

There has to be a massive change at Wolves. Almost all of the players currently at the club either aren't good enough or want to be elsewhere.

19 May 2026 15:20:10
I think there also needs to be a bit of a reality check here on what our available wage budget will be. So, if we keep Djiga he is currently on a reported (and somewhat insane) £70k a week, so let's say (at best) he has a 50% relegation wage drop in his contract, that would still put him on £35k a week. For context, the average wage in the Champ is apparently between £15-20k. So, how then are we going to maintain a (supposedly) 4th choice CB, who therefore is hardly playing on £35k a week?!
Same goes for half the other names I'm reading.

I love Raul and I like Kyle Walker, but how much do you think those guys would want to sign for us? I suspect at least £40k a week and we simply won't have that kind of wage budget going spare. Like I say, I think a reality check is needed for some, because where we are headed is an insanely competitive league and not one where you can afford to hand out £40k contracts just for a bit of nostalgia! Gonna be an interesting window, but filling our squad with aging and over paid players is not going to achieve anything other than further FFP headaches!

19 May 2026 16:57:04
Jeff Shi's sheer incompetence is going to cost us big time. I believe all the players have a 25% reduction clause in the salary if relegated. Capology say the yearly player wage bill is £70m, so it will now be £52.5m. Players like Joao are on big money, so simply have to be moved on.

Nathan Shi has inherited a complete mess. I hope he is a man of his word, and things are already in place, so we have a fighting chance next season, but I think that Jeff has ruined so much, so fast, that I, as a 50 year old, will never see Wolves in the Premier League again in my lifetime.

19 May 2026 10:25:41
I Leon King any good he's not getting a new contract and might be decent cb option.

I watched Kyle Walker last night. Would be a great addition.

19 May 2026 10:32:44
Kyle Walker would be a good addition.

I think Nathan Shi has something up his sleeve. I reckon Rob Edwards will be gone after the Burnley game.

19 May 2026 11:05:20
Hope it's more than his arm, Boz.

19 May 2026 11:55:47
We can only hope so, Boz, mate.

19 May 2026 08:54:57
A lot of ambitious words were spoken at the forum last week. The fact is we will start training again at the start of July that's 6 weeks away. The aim is to have a new set of players in place with say 6 of the current squad. Therefore we need to sign on 16 players. As well as this we have to manage the outgoings of 16 players.

It was said work had begun on this exercise last Christmas and for those involved I hope this is the case as this is a massive undertaking. Based on the last 5 years I would be shocked if they achieve this level of recruitment but based on the forum I'm prepared to give them one last chance!

This is history repeating itself, ten years after the takeover. Then, we started signing surprisingly good players for the Championship. Lopetegui was in the frame as head coach, but withdrew to take the Spanish national job. Man-in-a-suitcase, Walter Zenga, came in instead. Who knows how things will pan out this time, but Nathan Shi is looking promising. Let's see.

19 May 2026 11:31:21
I agree, Major Frank, a lot of promising intent, but in reality it won't happen in 6 weeks, if at all.
We may have a few out of contract players we can take on, but what with the World Cup, who is going to be signing early?

Rumours abound about Raul coming back, they say never go back but I would make an exception for him. Armstrong and Raul as 9 and 10 with Mane at 8.
I think we could also do with taking a look at Kyle Walker. That position is a problem for us.

Priority has to be midfield, if both the Brazilians are going. Would love Andre to stay. But we need a combative player who can drive us forward.

Are the Bueno lads going? Hope not but if so then a decent left back and centre back a Coadyesk player are going to be required.

Just my thoughts.

18 May 2026 15:54:06
I completely agree, Nando. On paper that front three would be as good a front three as the Championship has ever seen.

18 May 2026 17:18:55
Tbh, I'm not a fan of Armstrong.
If he stays, hope he proves me wrong.
Don't know why, but not sure about him.

18 May 2026 17:22:51
Who would have these back for next season?
Jimenez, Saiis, Mouts, Coady.

18 May 2026 17:39:24
Yes, it's getting the optimum blend of experience to supplement the younger players that we've got in the squad, without suffocating anyone's prospects.

18 May 2026 19:11:04
Think Armstrong will be decent next year. The lad is a Championship player. Simple as that. He does have over 90 goals in his Championship career. He is experienced and knows how physical the league is.

18 May 2026 21:54:44
I think he said that before. He's not going to say no. It would be bad form.

18 May 2026 12:31:31
I still think Nuno is a good manager. However, can’t see Rob going anywhere; it seems he is in place for next season regardless of awful performances.
We have to hope, with different players and opposition, performances and playing style will be much improved.

Not convinced at all, but it looks as though we will find out.
Is it wrong to already ask, how many games should Rob get to prove himself in the Championship?

18 May 2026 13:22:37
It'll be as long as it takes, Banksy. I'd prefer to start the season with hope and anticipation, but I've lost the confidence in RE.
Of course, we don't know what squad we'll have, we don't know how preseason will go, so I'll be behind whoever, but if it is RE, on the showing of late, it can't be too long, or our season will have been lost before we started.

18 May 2026 16:45:56
New players, as well as new coaches, are needed.

18 May 2026 20:41:05
Rob just needs to find solutions.

18 May 2026 10:09:26
can people please stop banging the Nuno drum. He left wolves years ago and he's a one-trick pony who's about to get West Ham relegated. do we really want to go back to sit back counter attacking football with traore crossing the ball into the Coventry canal?

great when it works, dreadful when it falls apart.

Move on for the love of God.

18 May 2026 11:01:30.
Pairing up front next season.
Mane - Jimenez.

18 May 2026 11:27:04
Nuno saved Forest from relegation, and took them to a whisker of the Champions League in spite of a difficult owner. Not bad for a one-trick pony!

18 May 2026 14:31:43
West Ham aren't going down because of Nuno. They're going down because of where they were when Potter was sacked. That was after they replaced Moyes with JLO, expecting better football...

I don't think he should come back, as it may damage his legacy, but he is a good manager.

17 May 2026 21:45:46
Wolves had a little momentum going prior to the international break. Since then, two points, two goals. Perhaps mentally some players never returned from the break. Anyone at the Fulham game would have thought Wolves were the away team, just 31% possession. Wolves may have beaten the worst points accumulated in the league, but are the worst team in the league performance-wise.

Agree3 Disagree0

18 May 2026 08:34:40
Rob Edwards, is he in cloud cuckoo land, going on about building a platform from Sunday's game? Does he realise we looked good, but we were against a very poor Fulham side who ain't firing on all cylinders. I know Rob loves our club, but if he loves us so much, do the right thing and leave.

I don't think he will do any good in the Championship, we need a good clearout from top to bottom.
I think if West Ham are relegated, I don't think Nuno will be there. Wouldn't it be nice if he returns and the likes of Neves, Saiss and Jimenez return.

18 May 2026 10:40:51
Nuno will probably be sacked. I would welcome him back at Wolves, not just for sentiment, but because he is a fine coach and a great human being. He gave about a quarter of a million quid to a local Midlands' charity, I believe, when at Wolves.

If Nathan Shi is serious, the obvious thing to do is to restart that famous project of a decade ago, which was totally botched by Jeff. Next month is the tenth anniversary of the Fosun takeover. Nathan could make it a happy one for us.

18 May 2026 12:14:51
Nuno Nuno Nuno.

17 May 2026 20:01:06
Just a thought, Kieran Trippier, player/manager, vast experience, still nimble at 35, born leader! FWAW.

Agree1 Disagree0

17 May 2026 20:42:57
I'd have him as a player.

But player/manager, no, as he hasn't done any coaching badges.

17 May 2026 20:53:20
Stop with the fantasy managers. We need an experienced manager who will take no nonsense from players.
