We’re down.
Thanks Nuno.
1.) 20 Apr 2026 23:32:19
Why blame Nuno.
2.) 21 Apr 2026 05:39:25
He's got our road map to Lincoln, Lindsay.

Anyone notice the similarity in Villa's first goal against West Ham to the goal Ruben Neves scored against Villa six years ago when Moutinho rolled it over to him on the edge of the box.
Those were the days.

Not many teams come back from two down away at Brentford. It bodes well and shows that Re is on the right track though we shouldn’t have to start playing well when we are two down. Team spirit is good, and they are playing for Re. He couldn’t do much more at the moment but did make a mistake in not going for the FA Cup.
If we can build on what we have, we may have a decent Championship team who can give it a go. There are probably six or seven PL teams who are not as good as us at the moment, but that doesn’t help us in our position.

In New Zealand, I have the privilege of watching all games live. Now, did anyone else notice very few players acknowledged Armstrong after his goal, and none celebrated?
Most strange.
2.) 17 Mar 2026 06:52:07
Didn't notice at the time positively negative, but then I was celebrating myself. Looking at the stills this morning, it does seem as if Armstrong himself was subdued in his goal and Mane and Kreiji were the only ones offering a hand of congratulations. I'm sure there was more than that, but maybe lost by TV viewers due to our own excitement and the TV replays etc.
What a game of halves tho? First, we seemed lethargic and careless again, showing why we're bottom of the table. Armstrong tho was having possibly his best game so far and his cracker lifted the spirit just before HT.
In the second, with Mane's removal, who, to be honest, had been very poor, and Angel bolstering MF, we came out fighting. Jackson started putting a shift in, and Hugo had woken up on the left.
So unlucky not to have nicked it. Equally, we were lucky when the Brentford lad shouldered it instead of getting his head to it.
It's all abit too late now, but at least we are still capable of giving it abit of effort for these final games.

Another great comeback, no doubt, Wsd, but why do we seem to need to concede early in order to wake up and start playing?
I've generally not been over impressed with Angel Gomes so far, but his performance second half changed the game, putting some control back into the midfield.
As for Re being the one to get us back up, we'll see, but Fosun will need to play their part and fully back him in the Summer.
4.) 17 Mar 2026 10:50:21
Spot on, Longmynd. I understand and sympathise with your reservations about Angel Gomes in his first few matches, and, like you, was much more encouraged by his performance when he came on as sub last night. I wonder if I was maybe being a bit too unrealistic in my expectations of him, taking it for granted he would settle in immediately, and start putting in the sort of performances that earned him a handful of England caps a while ago. He's been playing abroad for a good while now, and the adjustment to the pace and physicality of the Prem almost certainly needs time and another level of fitness.
I think he worked well with Joao and Andre, knitting things together and getting us upfield in a more coherent manner than we managed in the first half, where we either dithered on the ball while trying to play out from the back, or resorted to hoofing it into vacant territory for Armstrong to chase. He strikes me as a fairly diffident sort of character, and maybe he just needs to feel he's totally accepted by his fellow players and fans alike. A few more contributions like last night may just do him the world of good.

The play offs in The Championship will be extended from four clubs to six clubs from next season.
1.) 05 Mar 2026 15:59:23
It's a bit ridiculous and purely about money. If we want to see who deserves promotion, we could have a season-long 24-team play-off competition of 46 games, perhaps in a league format, and the teams who get the most points go up.
2.) 05 Mar 2026 16:09:57
Six clubs in play-offs in the Champ gives us (and everyone else) a better chance of promotion. So, we will all be talking about the top eight for a change.
3.) 05 Mar 2026 16:47:29
Don't be ridiculous, Acle, who would ever do such a stupid idea? Competition? League? What are they?
4.) 05 Mar 2026 19:05:07
Coming 8th, winning 4 and getting promoted over the 3rd best team over a season of 46 performances is a merited promotion, not.
5.) 06 Mar 2026 01:10:47
I agree, Abbey.
I don't like it, even if it does help Wolves next year. I was ok with one playoff between 3rd & 4th, but they keep expanding and it's too American style.
The problem with American pro leagues is that too many teams get into playoffs, and it devalues the regular season.
This will be very similar. It is a cash grab by the league. Probably because of too many American owners now.
This will also help the Top 6 in PL to get even weaker opponents if one of the 5th-8th best in the Championship wins promotion due to a short playoff run.
6.) 06 Mar 2026 03:04:21
How long before the playoff winner has to face the 3rd from bottom in the Premier League for promotion?
7.) 06 Mar 2026 07:56:55
I've a feeling that was tried, or certainly suggested, many years ago now, Rated, so it wouldn't be new, just that it'd be based on money, not sporting values.
Mind you, if Spurs should end up in 3rd bottom it might come quicker than we think. lol.
8.) 06 Mar 2026 17:45:04
Maybe it's to possibly make it easier for blue Mancs to get back after their possible demotion & 10 point deduction. Cus it won't be much more of a punishment for them. It's the badge, ya know.
9.) 06 Mar 2026 18:52:35
Never thought of that! You have a point, Lexluna12.

Always a tough game against Tottenham, and they have a new manager, Roberto Di Spursy.
11 Apr 2026 11:16:37
More likely to have Frank Thomas as next head coach.
03 Apr 2026 13:06:45
Best fans in the Premier League, Major Frank
Really? I think there are seven clubs ahead of us, including Newcastle and Leeds, but it's a good debate.
31 Mar 2026 10:17:43
Some of the rewards partners have stopped partnering with the club.
Rewards programme will be up and running before next season, but will be downgraded.
14 Mar 2026 12:02:08
The reduction in ticket prices is due to the reduction in the quality of the team.
If the owners believed they could sell tickets at current prices, there would be no reduction.
More players will be sold to offset ticket price reductions.
If fans want to watch cheap football, there are other options.
