The play offs in The Championship will be extended from four clubs to six clubs from next season.

It's a bit ridiculous and purely about money. If we want to see who deserves promotion, we could have a season-long 24-team play-off competition of 46 games, perhaps in a league format, and the teams who get the most points go up.

I agree, Abbey.

I don't like it, even if it does help Wolves next year. I was ok with one playoff between 3rd & 4th, but they keep expanding and it's too American style.

The problem with American pro leagues is that too many teams get into playoffs, and it devalues the regular season.

This will be very similar. It is a cash grab by the league. Probably because of too many American owners now.

This will also help the Top 6 in PL to get even weaker opponents if one of the 5th-8th best in the Championship wins promotion due to a short playoff run.

I've a feeling that was tried, or certainly suggested, many years ago now, Rated, so it wouldn't be new, just that it'd be based on money, not sporting values.
Mind you, if Spurs should end up in 3rd bottom it might come quicker than we think. lol.
