Club confirmed Trippier has an MCL injury similar to Saids but less severe so out for 4-6 weeks. Yerson has ankle ligament damage but not as bad as first feared but out for at least 6 weeks.

Said responding well as is Bellegarde but both out for a few more weeks.
Johnstone is now considered fit after his shoulder op so maybe ready to move on now.

Tks for info.

See we're linked to Medina a Colombian CB although the source is a bit dubious The 72, if true though I think this shows despite the difficulties of the World Cup the club have and are trying to get their business done as early as possible. Yes Saids injury is
unfortunate but 3 through the door, 4 if you count Krejci and at least 1 more well advanced is considerably more at this stage than there was last season. So despite all the moans to the contrary I think Nathan Shi is trying to back up his words. Surely this is a good thing???

Flea71, why do Wolves need another CB when they have 5 now, and CP plays a back 4? It doesn't make any sense. Especially when they are desperate for at least 1 or 2 MF, another striker, and a left winger. And another GK if Sa or Johnstone leave, which is likely, as both don't want to play Championship football.

2.) 30 Jul 2026 15:57:39
We needed a big squad overhaul this year, with a massively bloated squad, and we've barely done a thing so far. Aside from Trippier and Raul, there is absolutely nothing to praise, and 2 good signings when we need at least 6, and it's already August.

3.) 30 Jul 2026 16:53:00
Both played Championship football last season, DMac.

4.) 30 Jul 2026 17:28:30
The squad needed streamlining, the dead wood needed selling and the good players who were heading out needed replacing.

Sa - Replace.
Johnstone - deadwood.
Bentley - Keep.

Lima - Keep.
Tchatchoua - deadwood.
Hoever - deadwood.
Doherty - replaced by Trippier. ✅

Bueno - Keep/Replace.
Wolfe - Keep/Replace.

Toti - Replace.
Bueno - Keep.
Mosquera - Keep.
Krejci - Keep/Replace.
Djiga - deadwood.

Bellegarde - Replace.
Andre - Keep.
Traore - sell/replace.

Munetsi - Keep/Replace.
Doyle - Keep/Replace.
Edozie - Keep/Loan.

Mane - Keep.
Lopez - Keep.
Hwang - deadwood/ Rafiki replace?.
Gomes - Keep.
Chirewa - Sell.

Armstrong - Keep.
Kalajdzic - deadwood/keep?.
Tolu - Replaced Raul.
Chiwome - Loan.

Streamline the squad, reduce wages, and, if we sell, then we replace with good first team players and good depth.

Apologies if it looks confusing. Just something I would do. The squad doesn't look great at the moment.

5.) 30 Jul 2026 17:58:50
Nasser Djiga definitely isn't deadwood.

Nasser Djiga will become a Rolls-Royce. He's one signing Fosun got absolutely spot on.

6.) 30 Jul 2026 18:45:18
Friend of mine, real Rangers supporter, spoke to him re.

7.) 30 Jul 2026 18:49:08
Re Djiga. Friend of mine, Rangers fan, told me last season on loan he was poor, had a decent game every 4 to 5 games. Need better.

8.) 30 Jul 2026 19:49:35
Better sell him then. Your pal reckons he's no good.

Didn't he improve under a new manager? The guy is going to be class. Wily Bolly 2.0.

Talking of Rangers fans, I know one, and he thought Fabio Silva was the mutts nuts.

9.) 30 Jul 2026 20:57:52
Djiga was a disaster at Rangers. And, as for all this sell/replace/deadwood garbage, we never get players in place early, then buy last minute garbage. Nothing has changed. Rail&Trips will soon see they've been sold a lie.

Then again, Jonhson is a good enuf keeper. Wolfe& Bueno... Bueno, Krejki&Trips, R. Gomez, Andre, Mane, Armstrong, Raul... shud be good enuf to at least keep us in the division, so long as they can all play 90mins twice a week. ???

10.) 31 Jul 2026 13:14:41
DMAC - Looking at CBs, as the club are expecting departures. Both Krejci and S Bueno have attracted strong attention elsewhere. Mosquera and Toti are also being watched, and Djiga has admirers abroad as well, so we won’t lose all, but could easily lose 3 or 4 of them if the right offers come in / can't be refused.

11.) 01 Aug 2026 10:03:51
Mosquera and Toti can go for me. ??

29 Jul 2026 17:59:55
I see Bastien Meupiou is attracting a lot of interest and if his club get the 15 million Euros they are allegedly holding out for then we'll get about £6.5million due to sell on clause. Not bad if they decide it's free profit and put it back into new players.

Flea71

1.) 29 Jul 2026 18:35:31
Do Wolves have a buy back clause?
If he is now rated highly, and a Euro 15m fee would indicate he is, could Wolves activate that clause - allegedly less than a £1m?
He is still under 21, and thus would he be exempt from the foreign player limits?
His pace and physicality would seem to be a good fit for the Champ?

2.) 29 Jul 2026 19:20:16
We do and could, but I suspect the player wouldn't be happy, as interest is from big clubs in European comps such as Dortmund and Galatasaray, etc. Not sure it was a limited amount. I think we have to meet any offer, as well, so Wolves may just want to take the quick profit.

3.) 29 Jul 2026 20:34:41
If that is the case, what a terrible transfer it was last year.
Bought for 5, sold a year later for at most 1 to Alverca, then only a further year later they sold for potentially 15.
Wolves only get a 50% share of the vast profit it makes!
Given the sale price last year was irrelevant, why wasn't he loaned out instead, then all this upside, or indeed the player himself, would be coming to Wolves.

Take your point about the player being unhappy about having to come back to/stay at Wolves - seemingly, that describes many of the players who have been at this toxic club Jeff created.

What a shambles!

4.) 29 Jul 2026 20:50:20
Isn't hindsight wonderful.

When Meupiyou was here, he hardly pulled up any trees and no one really cares that he went.

The fact that the club put in a clause was decent business. Some players just suit certain clubs.

5.) 29 Jul 2026 22:39:41
Remember Benik Afobe, we brought back and sold, it's like that maybe.

6.) 30 Jul 2026 08:21:10
SimonandLaura, brilliant. Of course, that is the solution.
Depending on what the buy back fee is, and logically it should be slightly more than the fee he was sold to Alverca for - I believe it is Euro 1m as he was sold for a nominal sum - then exercise that option and on sell.
Goodwhileitlasted1, of course no one could tell that he would come good.
However, he was bought out of youth football for Euro 5m, a pretty large fee for a kid with almost no senior football experience, someone must have raved about him.

Consequently, selling him a year later after zero minutes of senior football for pretty close to zero was very strange.
As I said, why not loan him out - the financial impact would have been pretty much the same - and give the kid a chance to come good under Wolves ownership?

7.) 30 Jul 2026 14:05:55
TFIOG, he had some senior football experience in France when we bought him and was highly rated. It was Wolves that put him back into u21 development after he picked up an injury, but, as I remember it, the 5 mill was at the time seen as a bargain.

8.) 30 Jul 2026 17:59:56
Flea, a handful of games in level 5 of the French system (i.e. what would be described as non-league here), and 9 minutes of senior football, so you are correct. However, I did say almost no senior football, so I would argue 9 minutes is an accurate description of "almost no" senior football.
But, if, as you say, he was rated and had an injury, why was he given away without having any chance to prove himself?
As it happens, once given a chance he turned out, it seems, to be a perfectly competent player - at least seemingly bigger teams in Europe think so?
So why did Wolves buy him and then write him off?
Why didn't they give him a chance?
Of course, if the deal was structured as I think and Wolves can do an "Afobe" as "SimonandLaura" suggest, then fine, but if the deal is, as you suggest, merely an option to match a transfer fee or take 50% of the profit on sale, it was grossly incompetent!
Buy high, sell v low, buy back high is not really a smart idea, particularly when you can simply cut out the sale in the middle and replace it with a loan with the same financial ramifications.

9.) 31 Jul 2026 13:32:24
TFIOG, I agree. Wolves should have given him more of a go. I think, though, after his injury they watched him a couple of times in the u21s and decided he needed a loan move to get senior football. Now, I might be wrong on this, but I thought he initially went on a short term loan with an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season, which was taken up.

So, whilst the 1 mill fee may be correct, I assumed the original loan had a significant loan fee, so ultimately we weren't losing out when we sold him and also had the sell on and buy back clauses.

Why is it most of our linked players are not wanted by the clubs they are at? Why aren't we targeting players whose clubs don't want to lose but they can't/ or won't stand in their way as we are a more attractive proposition to the player? As these signings are more likely to work hard and be more successful, such as Raul or Andre when he signed.

1.) 11 Aug 2026 12:06:28
Different Shi, same old Fosun, penny-pinching for players that no one wants.
Last-minute transfer failure, as normal, broken promises as usual.

I suspect if any cb comes in, it'll be Medina, who we were linked with.
I disagree with a lot of the Mosquera criticism, as he seems a lot calmer and a better player when paired with Krejci or someone other than Toti.

I think he gets over-excited and reckless when Toti plays, as he seems to think he has to stop everything single-handed. So, I think he'll be a good cb for us if we keep Krejci, or get a good, calm replacement to pair with him.

If by Philips you mean Ashley Philips, he's gone on loan to Swansea.
Webster is good, but very injury prone the last few seasons, so he's unlikely to get more than 20 games out of him, as he'd need to get up to speed for starters.

Rated - this one is doubtful - He's a boyhood Coventry fan, who is arguably one of the players Frank has built the team around, so it's very unlikely he'd want to leave or they'd let him go. Believe he has a contract to 2028 as well, so not like he's in last year and threatening to leave.

FosunProject2ndGen - 12th - 16th. That has to be a wind up, and well done on getting a reaction.

Raul and Armstrong will both get close to or over 20 goals. Fer Lopez, Munetsi, and Mane will all get double figures, and others will chip in. A team with over 70 goals is going to be much higher than 12th. Without any new signings we're better than that - with 3 signings, maybe 4 if Sa goes, we'll have another RW, Said returning on left wing, a creative mf such as James, and a new cb, and our squad will be way stronger than most in the division.

It's looking likely one of Krejci or S Bueno will still be here, hence only needing one new cb, as Mosquera, Djigga, and Toti are decent options at this level, although Toti is a worry in a four at the back.

Allegedly linked with Andrew, a young Brazilian goalie at Flamengo, who Cesar had on loan at Gil Vicente last year. Flamengo's stance is not for sale, but Wolves are likely to push further.

We are looking to replace Bentley with a home-grown third choice GK. Ruddy is being considered as he's good behind the scenes.

Possibly more related to the fact he's just got engaged rather than anything club related. He is a journo, so being able to cover a team you support is a dream job - doubt he's given it up lightly.

Ilkley, apparently pre-World Cup, a few were (Fulham and Palace level rather than top 6), but seem to have moved onto other targets.

Bullys, he's a box to box MF with an eye for goal, good at late runs into the box, has a good shot from outside the box, and can put a shift in and battle defensively. Basically, a very good all-rounder, with Munetsi levels of energy, but way more skill.

Not sure why it didn't work out in France, but maybe he just struggled to adapt to the lifestyle and being away from home, as he seems keen to stick around the Midlands.
