Looks like you are being proved correct Abbeywolf, R. Gomes on as sub last 2 games and scores in both. Impact sub or not he seems very effective and perhaps better suited to be playing further forward. It is nice to see us closing the gap to Burnley, hope we can catch them 🤞👍

They should move heaven and earth to hang on to J. Gomes, he is top quality. Sadly, though, too good for the Championship.

04 Mar 2026 16:05:33
Maybe it's a case of selling the likes of J Gomes, Andre, and others the same dream and project again that we sold the likes of Neves, Jota, and more to come to this great club, and hopefully keep them, as the board are clearly intent on coming straight back up if the inevitable happens.

04 Mar 2026 19:15:51
Maybe they can loan out these players with the intention of bringing them back in the future.

05 Mar 2026 11:33:16
If Fosun, Shi II, etc. are really serious about their ongoing interest in the club, and want an immediate return, they should go all out to keep those up to the challenge. Obviously, the majority won't want it for various reasons; those who do, and are required, should be encouraged and duly accommodated.

If we can re-establish a unified, talented squad to make the push, then it's possible.
Unfortunately, we've got the enigma that is Fosun and crew. It's the "are they, will they" doubt that drags us down. Can we trust them after what they've already done?
The answer so far seems to be no.

04 Mar 2026 08:51:44
Can we pull off the greatest escape ever?

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Mar 2026 10:28:05
Probably not, but we've won 2 on the bounce against good sides. 8 to play. Leicester in 2014/15 had 22 points at this stage, finishing on 41, winning 6 and drawing 1 of the last 8.

05 Mar 2026 15:17:36
I'm sure we can forget a great escape, no matter how many games we win. We still relied on others losing. That's not going to happen every week; these teams are fighting for their lives too. What happened before Christmas killed us, unfortunately.

04 Mar 2026 08:51:11
Fantastic result last night, about time we had a bit of luck for Andre's goal, R. Gomes 2 in 2. Looks more of an attacker than wing back, maybe this has been the problem with him, always looks likely to score, great play from Tolu and excellent finish.

As others have said wish we could have seen these performances a few weeks ago, keep it going though and end season on a high for a change please.
Joao I thought was excellent again.

Great results tonight. Lads showed fight and spirit which hasn't been seen for a while. For the happy clappers though the damage has already been done. We are down and will be relegated due to Fosun and Shi. Why have we as fans stopped demonstrating against Fosun? You've sold the team, now sell the club were the chants. Why are all of us so fickle?

Thanks, buzzkill.

04 Mar 2026 09:33:56
You should never down your club after a great win. Before we get back into this, let's just take in what we have seen over the past week. 🙂

04 Mar 2026 09:48:41
Totally agree with your sentiments, Kenzie.

06 Mar 2026 11:25:17
Great post, Kenz. I'm loving the improvement, but the damage has been done by Shi and Fosun. The dream is nearly over, and we have gone quiet.

03 Mar 2026 23:38:14
Edwards certainly is making some of us eat humble pie, fantastic result.
The last 25 minutes of that game was like watching two top 6 teams going at it.
Where was this Wolves team all season?
Could we do it the great escape, estimated 32 points would be enough.

In the words of a long haired singer "woah we're half way there. woah living on a prayer."

Well Rated, the odds are very long, but there is still a chance, however slim.
I just hope Edwards' knockers are embarrassed by their ridiculous
knee-jerk assessment of his ability.
To get a tune out of this squad is some achievement.
One thing that is encouraging is that at least we are finishing better than recent seasons, which may give us hope for next season.

04 Mar 2026 09:49:49
The underlying problem lies with Fosun, not Edwards.

04 Mar 2026 10:42:42
Another 16 points would be 5 wins and a draw from 8. If that happened, I don't think it would ever be done again.

Each game is a cup final, but the next goal is to overtake Burnley, which is very much in our own hands.

03 Mar 2026 22:53:03
Well I said I had a feeling about tonight, call it a premonition if you like but more likely a recognition of the improvements and the expectation that generates.

Either way, yet another excellent result so will RE make me eat my words by the end of the season, I certainly hope so. Well done Wolves.

Probably too, too late. But we may get off bottom place, which will be something at least. Some winnable games left, but running out of time. Great performance tho. Again Arsenal, Villa, Liverpool. 7 points. Who knew. 😁

04 Mar 2026 06:42:34
There's a difference in playing Liverpool at home with all their names and Burnley away when it comes to effort and inspiration, Longmynd. If Re can get them geed up to the same levels of effort, then he's halfway there, as Rated says. Sadly, though, Bux is right. I reckon it is too late.

Just another thought I had last night watching J Gomes and Andre, and Sa to some extent: is there extra effort for World Cup consideration? Are they looking to impress a new club? If they are, then keep on impressing, please.

We are going to see a different approach from Liverpool on Friday; they are a wounded club. It may be a very different outcome. Will we be so optimistic for Brentford away then?

04 Mar 2026 07:10:18
Who really knows about Friday, Abbey? Liverpool's priority is the Champions League (this season's, and qualifying for next). With Galatasaray coming soon, and a bun fight with Chelsea or maybe Villa for 5th, their team selection will be interesting.

04 Mar 2026 09:29:06
Very true, Old Wulf, but seeing Van Dijk's interview after the game last night, he gave the opinion that they wanted the cup as much as anything else, and Friday we'd see a fight.
He looked angry and aggrieved. Schlott also seemed to be after revenge.

Shaying if We'sh played 10 gamesh, wesh might losesh one, but thesh gamesh aren't repeated. (Or something like that).

I reckon we might get caught out. Hope not. Re will expect a reaction, I'm sure.

04 Mar 2026 09:53:15
I did feel we may get one positive result from the two games, and, without sounding ungrateful, I would rather have had that result in the Cup, purely because of the league position. I think it will be almost impossible to 'do' Liverpool twice in four days.

04 Mar 2026 10:02:05
I'm with you, QS, but it was a night to remember nonetheless. A double over them in 3 days? That would be something.

03 Mar 2026 22:21:30
What a result tonight! Their goal only came from a poor pass which they capitalised on - the pass shouldn't have even been attempted in the first place and I'm sure RE will point that out after the celebrations. But what an overall performance. Constantly fighting, pushing, some great defending, awesome save by Sa (made up for his dreadful goal kick!), loving seeing Jackson straight into making the runs and using his strengths! Out of our remaining fixtures, I saw tonight and City as the only ones that we were most likely to drop points.

It will take some luck and scores going out way, but we also have to play those around us, so my question is this.Is the great escape in progress?!

Only listened on radio, unbelievable.
Wow.

03 Mar 2026 22:39:13
Proper end to end football tonight. To the neutral, it wasn't the best, but both teams looked to attack at any given opportunity, which made for a brilliant game.

04 Mar 2026 13:16:21
Provided you missed the first half, good. It was tedious, but that's part of the current plan.

03 Mar 2026 22:19:27
B'hell, when bellegarde put them equal I thought we'd end losing but fair play we got back up there. Not the prettiest, not the most together but we can't criticise the effort and desire. Great feeling tonight.
Just got to do it all again Fri. now.
Does lightening strike twice?

Late home tonight from the match.
But isn't it great to see not the best of squads, but playing as a team, for 90 minutes, and working hard.
Fabulous atmosphere in the ground tonight.
I need a good rest now before a repeat, and hopefully of the result too, on Friday. :))

03 Mar 2026 22:14:33
Great result COYW.

We couldn't do it, could we? The faintest of hopes still left.
