I just read on x that all players will have a reduction in wages 30 to 50 per cent on relegation that's interesting

Absolute tosh on X I’m afraid, you’re telling me that every player at the club has a clause in their contract that says they take a pay cut? Not in a million years, some may but the high earners will be gone anyway so it wouldn’t make that much difference.

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, it is standard. There are very few players in the top flight without that clause, outside of the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City.}

2.) 14 Jan 2026 13:40:00
Yes mate full article - Wolves are ready for relegation financially: every player has an automatic wage drop clause (30% to 50%). And there are no relegation release clauses, so Wolves can set whatever asking price they want.

3.) 14 Jan 2026 15:03:33
Rated - if it is only 30 to 50% they are nowhere near sharp enough as the salaries some are on are far more than double a Championship wage

4.) 14 Jan 2026 16:31:15
The highly-saleable players will obviously go. We may have a problem with the duds left behind, as their reduced wages in the championship may still be over the top, as Future notes. It could unsettle new players brought in on championship wages, if so and so from this season isn't worth his money. For me, the rot started when we signed Fabio Silva for silly money on silly wages.

Thanks Jeff. Far more talented players were earning far less. Then, the excuse was that the 'generational player' poor Fabio was thrust into action when still too young. Youth hasn't hurt Mane, has it? Didn't hurt the 18-year old Wayne Rooney either.

5.) 14 Jan 2026 16:36:42
The key part for me future is gold mate is their are no minimun release fees which means the vultures can't lowball us.

6.) 14 Jan 2026 20:57:44
Agreed for the handful of good players that are saleable but for many just getting rid will be difficult especially on the salaries they are on.
Which players are clearly Prem quality
Gomes and Andre are top 6 players.
Krejci looks fine
Emmanuel has the talent but questions will be asked about his poor form at the start of the year
JSL was good last year but huge red flags not only about his poor form this year but also his attitude/competitive edge and professionalism.
Mane in a v v short period is probably viewed as a player with high potential and Gomes R might also attract some interest?
Tolu, Yerson, Arias, (with everything crossed), and Bellegarde might be bottom end players.

After that
Sa and Johnstone are v v ordinary,
Hoever, Jackson and Doherty all sub standard prob not even Championship level - harsh on Doherty but he is not getting younger or quicker!
Wolfe, Bueno H, Santi, Hwang, Munetsi and Toti are Championship players
Fer Lopez is not ready for adult football in England but is in his 20s so sadly not sure he has a future in England!
Not going to be easy to shift any of the 12 I have listed above or even afford to keep most of them even on half their salaries!

7.) 14 Jan 2026 23:46:25
I don’t think we will see hoever in the old gold again thank god I’m sure his contract is up at the end of this season

No rumours since 1st dec everyone given up lol

Simonandlaura

1.) 09 Dec 2025 15:07:28
Probably waiting to see who wants to come and play in the championship next season

2.) 09 Dec 2025 15:55:13
I thought Costas de Game and Diseason Over were playing for us last night but then I realised it was only 8th December, and they couldn't have been playing for us but it certainly looked like it.

Great signing angel Gomez

Simonandlaura

1.) 01 Feb 2026 17:13:49
I liked him. Played well when he got on England team so the talent is there. Spurs were after him a while back. I think he can be good and a decent price.

2.) 02 Feb 2026 14:32:33
Crikey, Simon, when did we last praise a signing on here? Too little, too late of course. But with a good run of form we can bank a profit on Angel Gomes in the summer. The other signings look like down payments on our championship squad next season.

3.) 02 Feb 2026 15:01:13
Deep it is hard not to be happy isn't it? Gomes was a full international only 2 years ago! As a natural pessimist however I do wonder what is going on.

Why is he available for a mere £7m? Has his career fallen off a cliff?

I obviously don't watch French football but he does appear to have lost his place in the Marseille side and over the last couple of months is regularly on the bench.
At that price though and given that Wolves will be playing in the Championship next season he should be a really good signing.

P.S. Someone suggested he would be an easy flip at the end of the season however whilst I don't want to be negative but if that was the case why is he available today at the lower price.
Are Marseille really stupid and allowing Wolves to arbitrage them?

P.P.S. As an addendum he, Armstrong and Adams if they all come will all be "homegrown" and between them will cost approximately half the fee raised by the sale of JSL.

Don't normally do this but if it comes about "well done Wolves"!

4.) 02 Feb 2026 15:19:09
This is a signing we see other clubs make and say why couldn’t we get him, so it’s a thumbs up signing from me

5.) 02 Feb 2026 16:15:43
Are we becoming a team o Gomes's: João, Toti, Rodrigo and now Angel. Is this Wolves saving on shirt printing buy 1 get 3 free!

6.) 02 Feb 2026 16:55:00
We are becoming a team of 5ft nothings, , no height in the team!

7.) 02 Feb 2026 17:57:59
Where does it say Gomes has signed? Armstrong has not signed-and this is three minutes to 6-00 pm.

Deja vu?

8.) 02 Feb 2026 18:01:47
Adams ain't coming.
Alfie pond gone to my local team crewe
On loan

9.) 02 Feb 2026 18:21:27
Wolvo remember we had a small team including Cameron Rae and others. We were intimidated before kick off.

10.) 02 Feb 2026 18:46:34
Well Wolvo, hopefully we have sold our misfiring giant JSL. But lack of height might be a problem, although the 5ft nothings at least have a lower centre of gravity. I see that 6'2" Dominic Solanke did well yesterday, but he's not so lanky as Peter Crouch!

11.) 02 Feb 2026 19:04:27
Maybe he wants to be seen so he can sign with a Premier League team during the summer.

1.) 31 Jan 2026 08:47:29
There could be two more from china, Has Bin and where you Bin.

2.) 31 Jan 2026 12:10:58
Linked with another one from China. Wu Da Fuk RYhu

3.) 31 Jan 2026 12:16:12
No more Chinese takeaways, thank you guys. There's a promising young striker in Italy. Pino Grigio. Maturing like a fine wine.

I think when it comes from a financial point f view jeff is on point I don't see any problems with the club struggling financially. Its just his shocking football decisions that are poo.

that's how he keeps his job doing good maths for fosun. I got someone in the kkow at the mol who assures me jeff is no idiot when it comes to runnning a business profitable.
