Manchester City will insist to close Matheus Nunes deal with Wolves in 24/48h after initial €50m proposal. Insist my arse. Who do they think they are? This according to Fabrizio Romano.
1.) 24 Aug 2023 10:34:48
Doog, as soon as he signed last summer there was speculation the agreement was he could leave if a Top 6 side made a bid.
Man U and Liverpool were mentioned.
Even better for him if City are interested.
Initial bid as you say, said to be €50m, plus add-ons.
Personally, think he is a much better fit for City than us. Really hasn't pulled up trees for Wolves.
If we can push it to a gross €70m, that would be a good deal.
Big question then is, will the Dark Knight allow signings to be made?!
2.) 24 Aug 2023 10:35:53
When Man U or City come calling hey will turn any player's head. That's always the case. If we have FFP sorted with existing sales, then no need to sell unless Nunes has been promised a future move when he signed for us.
Lot of hysteria (?) today about Wolves being sold, even by some of the most sensible fans on this site. Complete rubbish in my opinion. Sales of PL clubs do not go through in the dark. When Fosun bought Wolves it was a very public process with many bidders. Lighten up everybody!
3.) 24 Aug 2023 11:19:09
Initial Nunes bid rejected, let's hope we can all take a breathe for now! ?
4.) 24 Aug 2023 11:21:48
Well if Nunes goes then we are up s*** creek without a paddle. Prepare yourself for relegation and championship football next season. Oh and here comes the revolution against Fosun/Shi.
5.) 24 Aug 2023 11:41:19
Nunes can go he is like a petulant spoilt kid, get 65 million plus and kick him up the ar@e out the door, doesn't want to be here let him go
6.) 24 Aug 2023 11:57:23
If City had offered £65m I suspect we would have, instead they offered £5m more than we paid. Only an absolute fool would consider that a valid return on a £38m investment!
7.) 24 Aug 2023 12:42:10
That is what I worry about Bully.that is a good description of our main decision-maker!
8.) 24 Aug 2023 12:52:05
Fosun's 10 year plan is totally FUBAR.
9.) 24 Aug 2023 12:53:40
its bull all the monewy is covering FFP closeing down sale
10.) 24 Aug 2023 12:54:46
Totally agree Deep, names would be being mentioned, not countries. Also, if Fosun were to sell up its not going to be done in a week or two either. If/Once they find a buyer it'll then have to be passed as a fit and proper person by the premier league.
11.) 24 Aug 2023 12:56:21
whats goods £65 million if not a penny goes back into the team
12.) 24 Aug 2023 13:36:43
Probably Fosun who the ones insisting lmao
13.) 25 Aug 2023 09:56:07
We sold collins for very little or o profit atall so why would fosun bother aboutselling nunes aswell.and now he knows city want him nunes won't be bothered about what happens to wolves.given the choice any player would choose city
04 Mar 2021 08:14:26
What's with the rumour that Max Kilman is not trusted by Nuno and will be sold? I would have thought that Max would be one of the last to be sold! Just my opionion.
1.) 04 Mar 2021 12:26:28
It's come from Talking Wolves, that guy spins more bs than a cattle farm.
2.) 08 Mar 2021 19:54:49
Have to agree Doog, iv been very impressed with Kilman seems solid for me should be in the starting lineup.
22 Apr 2018 09:51:04
Any news as to whether Carl Ikeme will be lifting the trophy next week?
1.) 23 Apr 2018 21:49:19
Can only hope.
06 Mar 2018 10:05:09
Leeds are now contacting the FA, calling for an official investigation with reference to the influence of Mendes. Hope we hammer them on Wednesday night.
1.) 06 Mar 2018 11:10:20
That's all the motivation we should need to spank them tomorrow night 💪👊.
2.) 06 Mar 2018 11:24:44
Leeds, Villa and Derby. three little 5 letter names. all with little minds. Can't win the league on the pitch, maybe the FA will help us.
How low can you get?
Let's go out and show em who the Champions really are.
Hope Fulham and Sheff Utd come up with us.
3.) 06 Mar 2018 11:26:33
They're coming across as two faced only yesterday Paul Heckingbottom was saying Wolves are amongst the best in Championship.
4.) 06 Mar 2018 12:02:40
Fulham deserve it on current form and Sheffield United because they managed to get Leon Clarke scoring goals lol.
5.) 06 Mar 2018 20:37:50
It's just like Bradley Wiggins, if you are too good bring 'em down.
U. K. society is just sh*te you just can't celebrate success. let's all moan about others achievements it's so much more positive Wednesfield.
6.) 06 Mar 2018 22:45:28
It's laughable it really is.
In 16+17 season (latest figures available) Wolves were 12th in the table for fees paid to agents.
You guessed it, both Villa and Derby were above us (Villa paying way over £5m to our £1.2m) .
Points make prizes.
Still 7.5 points ahead of third with a game in hand with 11 games to go!
Come on boys!
7.) 07 Mar 2018 08:37:14
How many do we need to win before we’re promoted?
8.) 08 Mar 2018 15:12:00
Well we're 10 points above 3rd (Villa) with 11 games to go. Villa can get 33 points max so we need another 24 to be absolutely sure they stay behind us.
Fulham have played an extra game and are 11 points behind us. So they can get a max of 30. We need just 20 more to finish in front of them. We only need 16 to finish above Derby. In short, Villa is our biggest threat. A win on Saturday would mean they can get only 30 more points and we'd be 13 points ahead so just 18 needed. A real 6-pointer!

Sorry, my bad. I switched on the TV and didn't realise that WH were playing in light blue. Don't know why I thought WH were in Burnley's colours. I know what I mean anyway. I am old you know!
16 Aug 2026 17:11:39
So, Kilman has gone to Burnley then!
28 Jul 2026 08:45:58
Greyleg, It was John Holsgrove played for Wolves 1965-71. Remember him well.
1.) 28 Jul 2026 10:41:58
Some team:
Stewart Ross
John Holsgrove
Dave Woodfield
Phil Parkes
Les Wilson
Squeaky Parkin
Mike Bailey
Waggie
Mike Kenning
Knocker Knowles
The Doog
Frank Wignall
Image available on Alamy.com.
Worrying thing, I remember them all.
2.) 28 Jul 2026 14:32:48
That was a good team. I really enjoyed watching them, starting in the 67 season. I remember John Holsgrove, very tall, and a good partnership with Dave 'Duggie' Woodfield. We have had some great central defenders over the years.
The next one to arrive was Frank Munro, what a clever player he was. My uncle and I met Hughie Curran in Waterloo Road after one game. He was good to chat to. Those early days were good.
3.) 28 Jul 2026 14:58:45
The only one I don't remember is Stewart Ross.
4.) 28 Jul 2026 15:02:24
'Longjohn' replaced Legend Ron Flowers in our 66/67 promotion team. Halcyon days.
Fred Davies/Phil Parkes
Joe Wilson/Gerry Taylor
Mike Bailey (capt)
Dave Woodfield
John Holsgrove
Terry Wharton/John Farrington
Ernie Hunt
Hugh McIlmoyle/Bob Hatton/Derek Dougan
Peter Knowles/Dave Burnside
Dave Wagstaffe
Les Wilson, occasional sub.
And that's from memory! Not bad for 79 eh?
5.) 28 Jul 2026 15:21:28
You're Vintage, Vintage. John Farrington, I forgot about him. Ernie Hunt soon to be swopped with Willie Carr. Hughie Curran, faster than lightning, followed by my all time favourite, and such a genuine bloke - King John (Richards). No disrespect to Steve Bull, who was a legend after Jr.
6.) 28 Jul 2026 16:17:05
Lord, where have the years gone? Ross doesn't hold any memories with me either, Lostcity.
Hughie Curran ran a pub not far from my digs in Oxford for a while, always a decent guy, but got his memories a bit 'muddled' about when we played Juventus away, but told some good stories, tho.
It was exciting, realistic but hopeful times, now it's money, money, money first.
7.) 28 Jul 2026 16:22:18
I know Stuart Ross, having played tennis with him a number of times, and he'd be flattered to be included, as he hardly turned out, although famously he was named as substitute against Man Utd while still at the Grammar School, and came on against Best, Law, Charlton, etc. He mainly played amateur football, as accountancy became his chosen career.
8.) 28 Jul 2026 16:41:42
Why didn't anyone pick up on my error? I omitted the great England international Bobby Thomson! Apologies. I do remember Stewart Ross playing against Man U in a Christmas fixture. If I'm right, he came from Woking in Surrey.
9.) 28 Jul 2026 16:52:17
Some good solid old style pros in that side.
10.) 28 Jul 2026 17:18:22
He did indeed come up from Surrey, Vintage. His family moved when he was around 10. As mentioned above, he went to Wolverhampton Grammar School.
11.) 28 Jul 2026 18:24:59
Pleased Stewart is remembered by a few of us Old Wolf. Very happy memories of those times.
11 Jun 2026 19:24:11
I have a bad feeling about this bloke Peixoro, I cannot put my finger on it, but it (if he signs that is) might be a retrograde step. Would have been better with Edwards, at least should have given him a go in the Championship. Just my view.
1.) 11 Jun 2026 20:10:53
Don't know what this (possible) new coach might be like, but Edwards had to go; keeping him on was just delaying the inevitable. The fact that he wasn't sacked at the end of last season baffles me. But he is gone now, so onwards and upwards. Hopefully.
2.) 11 Jun 2026 20:12:03
Problem is, Doog, what's the end game with Edwards? So, let's say it went to plan and he got us straight back up (which I'm not convinced he would have, BTW), but then what? I hate it when teams win promotion and then swiftly sack the manager because it seems insane, but that's what we would have had to have done. Robs had two cracks in the Prem now, both times he's been approx the fourth worst performing manager which the Prem has seen.
So what's the point in keeping a manager that you know isn't up to the task of competing at the level which you want/expect the team to play at? Yes, they could of and should of handled this better, but that doesn't make it the wrong decision.
3.) 11 Jun 2026 22:16:08
Well said BB 11. Maybe RE's sacking wasn't handled to 'our' liking, but different cultures handle these things differently, and there's little or no sentiment in business, and football is, after all, big business.
People were moaning about Nathan Shi last season being a Jeff Shi clone & never hearing from him, and now he's shown his teeth, they're still moaning.
We don't know how this new guy will work out, but the decision's been made, and why not; let's face it, most of us were calling for RE to be sacked at the end of last season. Not only were the results poor, but formation, tactics, & substitutions were all questionable.
Maybe Shi had this new guy in mind all along, and used RE to keep the 'ship steady' during this quiet interim period until the timing was right to make the switch. At the top, that's what happens in business, as underhand as it may seem.
I don't know, but was the new guy recommended, or is he a Mendes client? If so, maybe we can start to attract some of the young Portuguese players that we used to, in combination with experience we already have & recently signed. At least this new guy will have a full preseason to work with the squad, whatever that might look like when the new season starts. Regardless of manager, I suspect we all expect to see quite a few changes of playing staff in the coming weeks, so let's hope Nathan Shi has appointed the right guy this time to get the players we need to move us forward.
We have a great looking new home kit, have just made two excellent experienced signings, retained Andre & Mane, so let's be positive that finally Fosun have woken up and plan to correct the mistakes of previous seasons.
11 Jun 2026 09:02:02
Be better with Kieran McKenna now that he's left Ipswich. Certainly knows the championship.
1.) 11 Jun 2026 09:29:40
He said he wants a break from football, Doog. Will soon be appointed at WBA!
2.) 11 Jun 2026 09:38:49
No chance, he's been very specific that he's stepping down to take time off. He's not about to go back on that to manage a Champ club!
31 Aug 2026 18:01:53
Ah, I remember the Reeperbahn well!
04 Jul 2026 08:41:25
Didn't he leave Wolves weeks ago of his own accord?
23 Jun 2026 19:04:39
Just call me Mr Gullible, WhatALoad. LOL.
23 Jun 2026 08:36:48
Am I missing the joke? Real Betis might want him, but Real Madrid? I think not!
11 Jun 2026 17:49:26
Kenny Jackett was certainly No 'Hackett'.
16 Aug 2026 19:38:59
Rated, do you know where the auction(s) are?
04 Aug 2026 08:44:07
Only twice Abbey! You lucky, lucky ba****rd.
26 Jul 2026 08:40:36
Agree ref Thommo. I remember a few years ago when we had to pay match by match. I stopped paying after a while, as the service was hit and miss (mostly miss). I must admit, though, that the 'free' service last season was OK.
18 Jul 2026 08:40:24
I believe that the 'good old USA' are behind the Argy players because of the 'good old USA' with their 'freedom of speech' (NOT).
11 Jul 2026 08:43:57
P.S. According to them, we still own Emmanuel Agbadou.
