Just watched a YouTube video of a Leeds v Wolves match. Think it was an FA Cup match. Leeds had a penalty, just as the Leeds player was running up to kick the ball, good old Kevin Muscat bent down, picked up a lump of mud and threw it at the Leeds player. Brilliant!

No doubt I will get accused on being a Fosun fan for this post as it would seem my opinion differs from some other posts again.
Anyway, as far as I can tell I don’t think the claim that Angel is on 400k a month is true. Now I’m not an internet expert and I simply put in Wolves player salaries. But what I looked at says he’s on 35k a week, roughly 12th highest in the squad. Joao is top earner on 105k a week.
What did surprise me was Toti being second on 80k a week, I can only assume it’s so high because he was signed back when we were paying players a lot more. Signs that in fact whoever is in charge of such things may have learnt a lesson and now we don’t pay so much.
And I guess that’s where some people will think I’m pro Fosun, because I pointed out they may have learnt a lesson. If that’s all it takes then I guess I am.

Goat, the claim that he is on £400k a month is lifted, albeit multiple times, from one particular site, and I think is fairly clearly flawed.
It is reported on some other sites that he is on Euro 400k a month, a fair bit different.
However, on most sites it does, as you suggest, say he is on £35k a week, but with a bonus of some £455k at the end of his contract (5 months!) with Wolves.
Even grossing this up to an annual bonus, you still get nowhere near Euro 400k a month, let alone £400k a month.
Sadly, the internet is far from gospel or even consistent, and I don't think you need to be in any way reticent in pointing this out!
Ps, Toti is indeed a weird one - a player who, frankly, won't be too good for the division he will be playing in next year, and indeed may only be a modest player at that level.
Massively over-paid if he is indeed paid £80k per week!
Pps, however, the current low salaries paid to the squad - which militates against the huge wage bill in the accounts by the way, but that is a different issue I have with Fosun! - are, though, not without cost/consequences.
I'm far from certain that replacing some of the best players in the league - on commensurately high salaries - with the massively sub standard players on low salaries, leading to the club plummeting down and out of the league, is learning a lesson.
It is, however, simply a financial necessity as a result of Jeff's financial policies, which aren't necessarily aligned to the interests of the football team - but that is another issue altogether I have with Fosun!

The article was from Sport Witness, so best to disregard anything from them.
Someone even mocked them once with a Sport Witless X page and website.

Here is Fosun's Wikipedia page,
If you can't open the page, look separately at it. To me, Fosun look hopelessly diversified. Far too much going on. Scattergun approach. Wolves is listed under 'entertainment'. That meaning is wearing rather thin! I know that several Fosun investments have crashed. I knew personally one large international company in the Fosun portfolio, in my industry, and that company went bust, with the founders facing criminal charges for fraudulent accounts.
That to me is what's wrong with Fosun. Jack of all trades, master of none. What chance do we have at Wolves? Fosun should sell up and take the tax loss against future earnings.

Those things happen, Deep, but I suspect you're not wrong. There's certainly been a lack of focus on WWFC for some years now, relying on the unreliable to muddle through.
A degree of managerial autonomy is not unusual in large groups, but your point about such a diverse portfolio diluting governance beyond financial reporting is well made.
I wonder how the alleged search for a savvy football-focused CEO to replace the temporary Nathan Shi is going?
03 Apr 2026 09:11:58
So Jeff Shi gets a huge pay rise for abject failure at least with WWFC. It does make you wonder where Fosun's priorities lie in the sports/entertainment arm of their portfolio.
03 Apr 2026 11:34:16
£120k pay rise on the year before. Guess, as he was boss, he approved his own pay rise.
Is Shi 2 going to be any better? 🤞
03 Apr 2026 15:09:27
Blackfords, I doubt WWFC was ever Jeff Shi's priority or Fosun's for that matter, given the trajectory of the club. My guess is that his was to get the Esports complete with their new stadium up and running, so mission accomplished.
02 Apr 2026 16:53:57
Surely the £400k for Angel is not correct. Makes no sense at all if it is true. Spending so much on agent fees as well to achieve what, re-enforces that Shi 1 was an utter disaster. Is No. 2 is any better bet he can’t believe the situation he finds.
02 Apr 2026 18:07:57
There's a reason why players like Angel Gomes spend most of their career on loan away from the Prem, and apart from one half of football so far, he has demonstrated that reason from what I've seen.
If we are paying that much, then someone, frankly, needs the boot, because that would be ridiculous.
02 Apr 2026 18:24:01
Being reported on Sport Witness, Banksy. If it's true, I don't know, but it would not surprise me with what has been going on.
02 Apr 2026 19:46:43
That is the thing with our club lately. Anything is possible with the way it has been run. All a blur now, but I think Shi 2 would have been in place for the Angel deal.
I hope I am wrong and it was the 🤡 Shi 1.
Even though it has been an awful season, I still miss the matches. Maybe it is because we have improved recently.
02 Apr 2026 11:55:06
Bought & sold their way into the footballing wilderness, is anybody remotely interested how much profit or loss they’ve made out of our football club? We haven’t seen any proper Premiership football played by our team in the last six seasons and relied on there being three worse teams, Fosun’s luck run out, it was always going too, their time has to be up, any promotion challenge is highly unlikely, they’ve proved beyond doubt it’s not their game.
Just a thought: if two actors can buy a club in Wales and take it from strength to strength why can’t a Billionaire conglomerate?
02 Apr 2026 14:44:46
Unless Fosun reclaim their loans to the club, they will make a loss. The issue they also have is the club, in the Championship, will be worth about what they should have paid for it, the £30m investment.
It doesn't matter if a new owner is a billionaire or not. What matters is their interest in growing the club, and how much they want to stump up to make it happen.
This also depends on their ability to actually run the club.
Fosun are a rich group. They have failed in key areas. You need both the money and the competence to be able to make things better. New owners at any point, competence is not guaranteed.
02 Apr 2026 14:45:47
3 wins all season, sold our best players, and still lost £15 million, while the best fans in the Premiership keep attending the games and supporting the team through this debacle. Everyone at the club should hang their head in shame. Utterly pathetic!
02 Apr 2026 18:09:52
To answer your question, Ron, how? Simple, it's called ambition.
03 Apr 2026 13:06:45
Best fans in the Premier League, Major Frank
Really? I think there are seven clubs ahead of us, including Newcastle and Leeds, but it's a good debate.
02 Apr 2026 11:26:41
Sorry that was a month still ridiculous.
02 Apr 2026 13:27:01
£400, 000 a month for Angel Gomes? Astonishing if true. We're lashing out the sort money that top six teams do. We can't put relegation down to the usual story of lack of money. Jeff Shi must have been toasted behind his back in boardrooms up and down the country for being a soft touch, like taking candy from a baby.
Hold on, Jeff presumably had nothing to do with the Angel Gomes deal, that should have been Nathan, so is the profligate expenditure still being done? I think I should send a fake invoice to Wolves, it might get paid!
02 Apr 2026 11:23:23
Can't believe what I've just read: Angel Gomes being paid 400.000grand a week by Wolves for his loan period. Ridiculous.
01 Apr 2026 11:21:15
Assume everyone has seen the "headline" financial statement information released by the club yesterday.
It tragically explains completely why Wolves decided to "align" their financial year-end from May to June.
An alignment that conveniently allowed the rushed and dreadfully executed transfers of Cunha and Ran to be included in the accounts for the new period.
The underlying, ongoing, before one off transfer, loss made by the club has exploded from just under £80m in the period to May 2024, to a mind blowing £132m in the new period.
Obviously, as it is a 13 month period not a 12 month one some adjustments need to be taken into account but however you cut it turnover is down and costs, (wages), are massively up.
There is also a fairly chunky write down of the value of "a" or several players, (still in the squad), acknowledging the over payment in the transfer market.
These are truly dreadful accounts and do nothing to assuage concerns regarding the prospects of the club.
01 Apr 2026 14:55:55
Turnover will be down by an est £150million next season.
01 Apr 2026 15:25:20
These figures are absolutely awful as the club has posted a loss even though they've sold Cunha, Ait, Kilman and Neto.
01 Apr 2026 15:59:01
Years of mismanagement and a lack of development have led us to this, but it could potentially get worse.
Fosun's group revenue is also down by £2Bn, so will this ensure our future in the lower leagues, as the chances of them spending on the club are surely diminished.
01 Apr 2026 16:32:34
Great analysis as always, TFG. Anyone seen the Prems' recently released list of agents' fees? We are 7th on the list, just think about that for a second, 7th! For a team that's managed just 17 points all season, how is that even possible when we are buying unproven players from unproven leagues?! For context, here the only teams above us are last season's top four, plus United and Villa. Now let's take a look at the league: can any fan genuinely tell me that we've been even in the same league for signing the calibre of players those around us have?! Sorry, but poor mismanagement from Fosun! I bet each agent pretty much doubled their demands the moment Jeff walked through the bloody door! Some of us have been saying it for years, but the level of mismanagement at our beloved club is genuinely horrific! Makes me very angry, to be honest.
😭

I just hope the removal of Jeff Shi and his incompetence can repair the damage he's caused over the last few years.
