Wolves scouts and a coach were watching QPR friendlies in Austria. Been told Richard Kone is being looked at. Don't know much about him, but could be a younger player to compete with Raul. Got 10 goals in his first Championship season last season and meant to be better fast. Ticks the home grown box too.

All we do is watch, show interest, monitor.

The only rumours that ever seem to come true are those reported by Talking Wolves tbh. There's got to be things going on quietly behind the scenes.

Another week wasted.
Jackson out.

My feeling is that we won't be building an ambitious team like we had when we stormed the Championship in 2018 under Nuno. In that season, Nuno had a clean slate, with none of the expensive legacy duds we have now to hold us back financially and on the playing field.
That said, given a good head coach, many modest teams get promoted. The trick is staying up, and the real investment starts then. My gut feeling is that this is our modus operandi right now. To try and replicate the quality of the 2018 team is probably unaffordable and risky.

You have to plan to go up though.
That was the reason we were successful in 2018.
None of our CBs are good enough to play a back 4, and there's not enough pace upfront.
So we may go up, as they may be too good for the Championship.
I doubt it with our forwards though.

No, our c/backs are not good, only Kreji is, and we need 3 more asap and a goal scorer defensive midfielder.

I don't get some comments above. If Krejci stays, then a back four of Trippier, Mosquera, Krejci and Moller Wolfe is easily good enough for the Championship, and with decent quality and support in front, not bad for the prem, but would need strengthening and more depth. At Championship level, our backup defenders should be ok too, although some strengthening wouldn't hurt.
Our biggest issue by far in the last few seasons has been confidence and lack of structure, with constant changes, not quality of player, as individually they are all capable, but, due to the above, have been prone to too many mistakes. A new formation and purpose, together with Trippier's experience and know-how, should really help with this.

No chance mate we have no pace in our defence even with Trippier added.
In a back 3, we may look okay depending on who Cesar chooses.
But, we were abysmal at the back last season, which is a reason why we got relegated. If we could have kept clean sheets from November, we would have probably stayed up.
In a back 4, we need pace and technical ability. Alleyne and Arrey-Mbi, plus Webster, would be a massive upgrade.
Mosquera, Bueno, and Krejci need to go, one because they are worth a fair bit, and secondly because they have reached their limits. Krejci was responsible for some of the goals we conceded as well.
He just looked good in comparison to the shambles we had.
As I've said, it's a chance to change, as the back 3 or 5 has been there since Nuno.
Tactics have changed, we need the personnel to make that switch. I'd arguably keep Toti in case a back 3 is needed, and we do look more balanced when he plays. Unless we sign another cb that is left footed.
Don't get me started on midfield (where we need two more cms and keep Traore or Doyle) to play a midfield 3 in some games.
And three forwards with pace and technical ability like Jota, Cavaleiro or Helder Costa.

Agree with your response, Flea71. A lot of people are over-stating the quality of the Championship. Assuming Krejci and S Bueno leave, a back four of Trippier, Mosquera, Toti and Bueno/Wolfe is a good place to start. Would like another cb to come in, but I wouldn't say we're desperate. We're crying out for another cm, a winger and a keeper before anything else.

TG, I agree with Flea re the defence in the Champ, and you on the pressing needs. However I think Krejci to Toti is a massive downgrade, and a step too far. Like you, I think a new GK is required, unless Sa can get his head right, which seems unlikely. I am also far more worried re the front 6 - who plays alongside Andre and the 3 behind Raul? Mane and Gomes give me some hope, but are young and may struggle to cope over the whole season.
Whilst Lopez, seemingly everyone's idea of a saviour, I doubt will even be here or wants to be, let alone be up to it. Behind them, the bench looks pretty thin. Armstrong should/will start for me (as Lopez won't be here!), but then it is slim pickings.

The defence is poor as a back 4, but as a 3 or 5 it may be strong in the Championship.
But Cesar is playing a back 4, so three cbs are needed. I agree Toti isn't good enough, but I do think he can be useful in a back three if needed, cover at lb if needed, and he does bring balance to the defence. But his lack of pace one v one is a concern if the Prem.
My posts are literally raising concern that we are playing a back 4 with two cbs, with neither pace nor technical ability.
I'm worried about the forwards. We need another three; I'd sell Tolu, Hwang, Bellagarde for three decent forwards to get us promoted.
We also need two midfielders to go with Andre and Doyle (as he is homegrown).

If Krejci stays, he's quicker than most seem to credit him with, as is Yerson, plus both are quite physical and won't easily let someone just run past them or away from them. Not saying it won't happen, just not often, and only against the best, most football savvy forwards in the Championship.
Really disagree that these players can't play in a back four, they have done at international level - not all the time, but on occasion.
