Is Declan Rice the most overrated player of recent time, if not all time, or is it just me not understanding the modern game?

Personally I think David Beckham was the most over rated England player of all time.
I also think Lionel Messi is not the greatest player of all time as most people think. Maradona was better.

I’d much prefer Jared Bowen in my team any day of the week. I thought that back when they were at West Ham together. Rice is good, very good, but I just think Bowen adds a little extra.

I think the figures for Messi, and his longevity, sugest otherwise, Jas. At his peak for Barcelona circa 10 years ago Messi was on another planet. Maradona was brilliant, agreed, but he was also a cheating slubberdegullion.

The game’s already ruined as a spectacle, what was the point of introducing the multi - ball system to speed the game up then changing the goal kick rule allowing ‘keepers and defenders to play tippy tippy in the box? One thing I’d like to see, if we have to have five subs, would be that any substituted player isn’t allowed to play in the next game, Managers substituting players at the exact time the added time is announced, doing all they can to break up play, it’s become so predictable and frustrating to watch, Managers would think seriously about “resting” players for five minutes and players wouldn’t be jogging off grinning, knowing they’re not playing in the next game.

A family Club that thinks that in 2024 it’s acceptable to play “the Liquidator” encouraging fans to chant obscenities at each other, must be so embarrassing for their players who have their young families in the Stands and they call it “creating an atmosphere, more like inciting trouble, unbelievably no one in the media even mentions it, it’s had its day, give it up, change the record.
