Everton got battered against Villa, surely we can get something against them? their talisman is out injured (no surprise there) Iwobi is also picked up and injury. By all accounts their defence was atrocious.

I think there have been several over reactions over the last few weeks.
We weren’t Top 6 contenders after the United match and it’s not automatic relegation after losing to a very good Brighton team (thankfully we only have to play them twice per year). The reality is somewhere in between where we have players and a first team with a bit of potential who need to play well as a team and do the hard work required in this league.
For me, the worst thing about Saturday was losing Nunes for next week. The lads we have need to play with discipline and if GON does nothing else but instil that in his first months, he will have made a useful start to his tenure.

Nunes actions were pure petulance. He'd been riled by Gilbert early in the first half and showed a reaction. OK he's losing 4-1 but the games over, to push the first guy over the keeper might have an excusable logic, but to push the second guy after was pure foolishness, I don't think GON could have controlled that NES.
On a different note, am I the only person who thought Spains penalty should have been retaken? Earls was well off her line before the the Spanish woman kicked it surely, or is it a different rule in womens?

Yes 100% should have been retaken, goalie took a step forward before the ball was kicked. Couldn't believe ref and VAR let it go. Unless England borrowed Man Utd's VAR fiddler oops sorry should have said official. (Not really sorry).

I watched women's world cup game in previous rounds think it was Jamaica.
They saved a penalty and VAR ruled to take it again as goalkeeper was encroaching off her line.
So yes Abbey it does apply to women's football.

When we conceded the penalty in the final I kneed the door frame in rage and was rolling writhing in agony on the floor so I missed it our keeper off her line.

I didn't see it live Phil, heard it on the radio. Only seeing it on news did I wonder. Anyway it did the keepers growing reputation no harm did it?. Wasn't in the best of moods on Sunday after sat game but the more I think about it now, Nunes aside, I realise when we lose we only see our faults and not the quality of the opposition that expose them. Brighton are seriously a good team who knew what they were doing and how to go about it. Two games is not enough to foretell a season. After utd a week ago a euro qualification was being banded about by some, now, after the Brighton affair some are suggesting that's it we're relegated. The problem over the two games is the obvious one, we haven't scored when we ought to. Samedo/RAN must be questioned but it's not all doom and gloom, resting on Everton. GON hasn't had anytime and it must be a whirlwind for him coming to terms with two such contrasting results. Everton away will be a stern test for us confidence wise, win or lose will have an after effect. I hope its not a game where the red away shirts are worn, the home fans will bait us enough as it is. But only time will tell, come 5pm sat we'll either be crowing or the naysayers will have us in the championship next year. It'll still be too early to call of course. Phil I hope the knee will be springing up in joy mate. Whatever, COYW.

You were not the only person Abbey. The penalty was bizarre. The England keeper dived to her left before the kick was actually taken, and the Spanish player kicked it in the direction the keeper was going! Illegal penalty but who cared at that point in the England camp. I'm surprised the Spanish player didn't just put it down the middle and equally surprised VAR stayed silent. Great effort by an outplayed England. First place in Europe, second in the world.

Hi Abbey lots of understandable disappointment posted post match.

Where I come from is if we hadn't created the amount of chances 7 or 8 must score chances along with the other roughly 30 chances over the first 2 games then I would agree we are in trouble if we don't beat Everton.
But sooner or later by the law of averages we will start picking up wins draws at least.
It's a team game and every one of our players has to stick 100% concentration and 100% on the game plan of which as I and others post wait and see after roughly 10 games.

We will get better when our new manager has more and more time on the training ground.

I'm not one to give up and think we could be in trouble when so early in the season.
But as posted below I'm not at the match seeing us 4 nil down.
I asked my bro how many out of the remaining 18 matches do you think you will see us win?answer 3 or 4 that was an hour after full time.
But now when the heat and red mist of disappointment is starting to lift hope posters who don't see how I do understand where I'm coming from.

Abbey I tried various ways of watching the match but I can't.
Circumstances are how they are for me but got my brother retaining some kind of quality of life and put him before anything with at minimum a day out for him at the home games.
