The football gods have been in touch. We will beat Liverpool once this week, and lose the other. If we win the league game, we will go to the last game of the season to see if we stay up or not, or win the cup game and will reach the final. Which would we prefer?!?!?!

We're going down Plymouth, so not overly concerned, league win wise, but it'd be nice to go out with a bang and the FA Cup. Remember Wigan, I think, doing it. But we should aim to get something out of every game regardless. The problem now is fitness and stamina. RE hasn't the squad to play with too much. I get the strongest out on Friday.

I assume this is all hypothetical. Difficult one, as our last game is against Burnley, so if it's a win-and-stay-up scenario, that would be tempting, but would staying up mean Fosun change their approach (as going down surely does)? As for winning the cup, that would be great, as it would be real joy instead of a slightly hollow win against Villa or avoiding relegation, etc.

So, for me, it's winning the cup, but I would obviously take either.

Do we get a chance at Europe if we win the FA Cup?

Automatic Europa League entry for FA Cup winners, Bos.

Forget Europe, concentration should be about promotion back to Premier League.

I agree, Wolves1963, I doubt 8 guaranteed European fixtures on top of 46 league and at least 2 domestic cup matches is plausible for a Championship squad. Worst case scenario is 56 to 78 matches.

So how inconsistent is VAR? Mane denied a goal scoring opportunity against Palace, penalty but no red card. Cunha denied a goal scoring opportunity against Palace, penalty and red card. Top teams getting the decisions again, unbelievable.

We know the rules, Wolvo. Top 6 teams get the rub of the green from the officials, because they protest loudest, and have deepest pockets and fattest lawyers. If you're Man City, with 115 financial offences, you get sentenced on the 10th of never.

If you're Leicester City, they hammer you with 6 points when you're hovering in the relegation zone in the Championship. A tale of two cities, eh?

It'll be interesting if one of the so-called Big 6 is in the Championship next season, which is fairly likely. Not too much rub of the green for them - yet!

Has the romance really gone from the FA Cup? Sod how many games we might have to play in Europe, etc. Would you really forgo winning the oldest, most prestigious trophy in domestic football because we might have to play some more, lucrative games in a Championship season, Ardunby?
At my age, one more chance to see us win something would be incredible.

But surely the youngsters would prefer a cup and extra games; the Prem isn't the be-all and end-all in gauging success.

Abbey, we would all love to see a major trophy collected for the first time in 46 years. It's not the Europa League games that are the issue. We can play squad players and go out; it's the rearranged Championship games. What we can't risk is a double relegation simply due to fixture congestion.

I agree, Abbey. Let's go for it!
FA Cup, here we come. Can they still get black and old gold ribbon for the Cup?
Arddunby, who's to say we'll stay in the Championship? ??‍♂️ Up or down, Wolves, aye we. ?
