Simply brushed aside,in it for the first 45 then silly mistakes stray passes we are our own worst enemy,need Dawson in sharpish,but above all we need a striker who can put the ball in the net,gyokores or whatever his name his if he's any good get him in,still seem disjointed and not sure lope knows his best team yet,need a striker over all other positions for my money anyhow

Absolutely Big nell, if we try to see the season out with Raul or Costa as our only choices, we are down. We need a central striker who can be the focus up front, create a partnership with Cunha and just for a change, be one who can actually score.

But just as importantly we need a playing style that can feed him, personally, I would have thought Ings would have been perfect, but if Gyokores is the answer, fine.

Like you I don't see how JL can know his best team with new players still joining but we've got to get going soon.

Agree with you Long.Absolutely.
But still quite a few on here keep saying we don't need a striker we have Cunha and Sarabia.and all the other 'so called' strikers.The 2 new boys v good additions but of course we need a proper striker / finisher.
Lope still working out his squad and how to integrate the 4 (so far) new ones.
But he's got 2 weeks now to sort out his BEST starting 11 from this bigger squad and go with it.
Of course time for a few tweaks as we go along, but we can't keep starting with the 11 we did today, and then bring in 5 key men early in the 2nd half as subs

No surprise really more hope but will we ever see jimenez and cunha play together we look different class when cunha comes on so I don't understand why JL still sits him on the bench I think cunha will bring back the jimenez magic and is the key to us scoring goals and staying up sometimes you just have to say the best team won (official's really didn't help) but we can't lose faith the first game under JL that has been bad with no ideas but on to the next few games Rome wasn't built in a day will take a few weeks for the new guys to bed in get up to speed

If Haaland had been on our side we would still have lost that game without scoring. You can go on and on about a centre forward all
You like but maintain that the final ball is Sunday league. Sarabia and Cunha have to start against Liverpool and Podence has probably earned that today too. And Semedo is never going to be good enough in my opinion.
That said, take away the mistakes and it’s closer than it seemed, we would have been done 6/7 under Lage or Davis!

Why does JL play Jimenez? reason, he needs a CF but right now it's Hobsons choice, Jimenez or Costa, neither good enough. Cunha's main asset is assists, but he needs to start with a striker who can put the ball in the net.

Time to begin starting with the new boys as the group JL inherited has too many under-performing, Jonny, Semedo, Mouts, Jimenez and Costa, for whatever reason.

In the shorter term they should be the ones coming off the bench as a new 'first team' needs to be formed with new partnerships and understandings. I'm sure JL will work towards this as there's no point bringing in these new players otherwise.
