Cunha’s goal today was really good, nice to see Jorg get off the mark. I was hoping for big things from Yerson but so far he hasn’t impressed me, I hope he makes me eat my words. I don’t rate Bellegarde. We definitely need a centre back and I think an attacking midfielder to play where Bellegarde did today.

Well that was humbling, what are fosun playing at… who’s this gon fella! In all seriousness RAN has always struggled to defend, def not a lb and only just gets away with it as a lwb. Sa’s distribution and positioning was terrible so hopefully we get a gk in. Our attacking play was positive but not sure about 4 at the back against sides with Chelsea’s quality. I don’t think that will define our season and still think we will be ok. Fingers crossed it inspires the team next weekend and pushes the recruitment team to get some deals done. Still got my rose tinted on I’m afraid.

A very level headed appraisal of the game Man O War 3, if you don't mind me saying. Most posters on here will be either contemplating Hari Kari or trying to flush themselves down the toilet. Some will be thinking 'well the windows not closed yet, plenty of time to get in reinforcements, no need to panic' and there is, of course, an element of truth in that.

However, that would presume that the players we bring in are at least as good or have the potential to become as good as the players we've sold. It will imo be impossible to judge that for at least a month or two until GON gets them bedded in. There were, however, plus's in the first half with Cunha back in and on target and Larsen's first goal. The second half, however, was, to put it bluntly 'a s**t show', so what happened?

Some have blamed it on trying to play 4 at the back, some have named certain players calling them out for their failings. There is of course a third possibility, Fosun have turned the financial screw too tightly and for too long, this being the consequence. You can only play the players you've got so is it fair to blame them or GON? For the odd defensive error of team selection, maybe, but this imo goes much deeper now. Is it reversable? I certainly hope so.

Today's showing was awfully inept and when I watch the replays, it looks worse and worse. Our defence was nowhere near Chelsea's attack. 4 at the back ain't working with the personnel we've got. RAN is not a lb but his run to provide cunha was to be admired even if he got a bit lucky. H Beuno is of course on loan so it's a bit hobsons choice there.

What gets me longmynd is the lack of planning, or willingness to invest money in decent players. Today O'shea (not really my choice) joined Ipswich. Cramo (?) another we were interested in is linked heavily to forest, and another cb is going to forest but out on loan. We meanwhile are likely to get an 18yr old inexperienced lad.

I hope beyond hope our shortcomings can be resolved this week, but why is it the same old last minute scrappings if we're lucky again. We've still got the young lad Lima whether he's ready for the prem yet is doubtful, but he can play.

Burnley won't be a walk over, but I hope we see some form of unit at the back.
Another note is the GK situation. Sa is getting a lot of blame, but ramsdale isn't the answer if he's got the leaking defence we showed today. Unless Sa is being lured by the Saudis, the money could be better spent outfield.

Rant over, got some of it off my chest, just find the defending today unbelievable. 6 give away goals.

I think your 'planning' point is on the money Abbey, it may be my imagination, but has Hobbs has been handed mission impossible by Fosun.

Ok, we allegedly had to sell a few last year to comply with FFP/PSR at the beginning of last season, but given the way Hobbs/GON made it work have Fosun tasted too much blood. Like, 'that worked ok let's do it again this season'. Yes we've brought players in but are they the ones we need or just future money makers.

Maybe the next week will allay our fears and I know I said I'd judge it after the 30th so let's just hope my gut is wrong and today was a blip, a tactical failure rather than a personnel one.
