Would not play Sa, Dawson Joao or Neto. Make sure they're fitter for Cov. Far more important game!

Why not go the whole hog and rest all the 1st team if the Filham match is of so little importance! ?

Very much agree preston.the Fulham game is secondary.
Far better to have Neto, Dawson etc 100% fit for the Coventry game and maybe lose tomorrow.

Hi Guys,
The Fulham game is of equal importance. We still have an outside chance of Europe via league placement, plus each place we drop down the league I believe costs us over £2Mill in revenue. GON has some difficult decisions to make, but I would play our strongest team against Fulham and if we're fortunate to be leading by HT then take off a couple of players.

So you don't think pushing for a European place is worth it?

To win the cup we've probably got to beat one or maybe both of Liverpool and Man City, that's assuming we best Coventry, Chelsea, Man Utd, Newcastle wouldn't be straightforwardgames either, the best case scenario is a Leicester semi. Maybe the league is the best way to Europe as Blackfords says difficult decisions.

There are no guarantees in any game and the aim should be to win every one showing respect to the opposition. From my own view point and influenced by my age and health I'd love us to be at Wembley with another chance of the FAcup, but the club must come first and progression the key to its future, so, we've got to aim to be our strongest available against both Fulham and Coventry and the next game and the next. We don't have the luxury of a large squad son GON will have to make the decisions as and when they occur, hoping of course there are no injuries. Its strongest every time for me.

Fully agree Abbey, we should pay equal respect to both the league and the Cup. Who knows, we could well do well in both and continue to confound the critics.

Disagree there is £2million difference for each position in the league and we are still in the run for 7th spot too.
Also if we field a weakened squad on purpose we'd get fined just like we did a few years back when Mick fielded a weakened squad against Man UTD.

That's not how football works in real life I'm afraid (this ain't Footy Manager)! If we drop our first team agaisnt Fulham we would get spanked and that isn't going to help the team going into the next game in anyway! GON will make the decisions he has to make but if you think every league place doesn't matter to him then you haven't been listening to the interviews! Besides which like others have pointed out to get a Euro spot from the cup you now have to win it and as much as I want that to happen it is (sadly) very unlikely! In fact what looks far more probable is a late run in the league and the current teams in Europe doing us all a favour and getting an extra space through the coefficient! We were poor last game and good seasons can be easily ruined doing that too many weeks in a row! Mind you it won't be easy, seems like a lot of players are injured right now. Just hoping for a good performance and for that we NEED our best players I'm afraid! ?

Hi Rated,
Yes £2Mill per placement in the league seems excessive, but I got this information from an article I read. Can't remember the exact figure quoted but either £2.4 or £2.8Mill extra/loss depending. They used to reckon £1Mill gain/loss per position.

The Mirror in August claimed 2.2 million per place, on top of a guaranteed 80 million for TV rights. A UCL place can be worth up to 100 million.
