Read the article in the E&S and looks like JL is basically urging Fosun to do something this summer in terms with transfers. He stated he had no idea there would be any issues with FFP but I think he would of had a good idea unless Shi has pulled the wool over his eyes. He must be trying to put pressure on them and maybe covering his behind incase they don’t back him.

I think this will mean that Lopetegui will be give a set amount, say, £50m and whatever he raises from player sales. I'm sure he'll get it right.

Fosun need to crack on with the stadium bigger stadium = more revenue.

The issue of FFP, was known months ago. It is simple maths knowing the money spent in the last 2 transfer markets and it's impact, so it is a red herring.
If the reports are to be believed, Lopetegui's vision will not be realised. He and his team will leave and we will be in a worse position at the start of the season than we were last year!
It is utter madness to invest in players and coaching team, if your plan is not to support them!
I still cannot understand Fosun leaving Shi in charge. He has been a disaster.
From when he took direct control at the end of 2019, we have gone backwards.
Saved only by Mr Guangchang taking control and bringing in Lopetegui.
Now that bit of success looks to be at risk and the Club will
be in serious trouble.

You've got both aspects spot on Rugeley, if Ffp rules without an injection of more in one way or another from Fosun we could in serious trouble, but as you also say it would be madness to invest in Jl and team and then not to support him. I think JL may have a limited funding, supplemented by transfer income but that Fosun will back him as and as can be. Its sure going to be an interesting summer but I also believe there's a nucleus of JLs plans already at the club. However reading stuff along the lines that we can't afford to renew semedo's contract as things stand is very concerning.

Season ticket prices have gone up my brothers season ticket I payed mostly for it this season as a gift for his birthday last year this coming season 23/24 if I have to I will pay the full amount for him.
For my bro it's to give him the one thing that's makes him happy and want to get up and do something.
But for every season ticket holder who is in normal health its real bad if the tide doesn't turn and we get back to playing with the right players who give their all for the shirt.
All anyone wants is our team to give maximum effort for our support attendees at the match and all who watch on TV listen on radio.
The cost of living is at all time high and very expensive to watch our team.
Fosun our club don't want fans to turn so I can't see anything but good better times next season.
I always win because I have my brother on my side always.
Apologies for personal stuff.
But with current predicament our club is in effecting greatly our fan base I'm compelled to post my circumstances involving my brothers and I passion the wolves.

And no sooner have I posted that and the club announce they've extended samedos contract for 2 years, a glimmer of hope?

Phil I feel for you and its a lovely gesture from you to care for your bro and for the love of the club. I renewed my membership along with my son. It was fixed at £38 a card until the end of May. We don't get to matches for various reasons, I havnt been since before lockdown but still retain my membership in order to support the club in a financial way. Its a lot for nothing you may say but if I want to see the players we need in the premiership it's a little towards it. The joy of us performing well, winning against the odds, or even in defeat brings me the pleasure only the love of a club can bring. Prices are ridiculous all round, everywhere, but I'd rather pay into wolves than spend it in my local on a Friday night down here.
I dunno how much the season ticket is, a lot in one go I know, but its a golden ticket for the experiences your bro gets, and that's something you'd be hard to find anywhere else. Players wages are obscene. I don't agree with the spending on agents etc. But it's a fact of life and its a no win situation for the poor old everyday fan. I subscribe to sky, bt and prime in order to watch the wolves ( I'm don't watch anything else on bt, and only clarksons farm on prime), which in turn cost a packet too. I get programmes posted to me, the postage can cost more than the book. I'm on a pension and lucky but it's value falls daily and I have to cut back, without the wolves my life would be emptier. I try and donate to the wolves foundation and watching the little blind lad with lamina just made me proud to be a wolves fan and in my distant way still a part of the pack.

Until the last ball is kicked and the retained list is published, we are just speculating. At that point the gaps in the squad that need filling and the areas in the squad where we can maybe do a trade will become apparent. The manager will nearly always say they want to keep a player. Last close season we went from concerned when paolinho went to Fulham to more optimistic at the beginning of the season when Nunes signed, through pre world cup despair before Janyarys Gomes optimism and Spring relief so let's not get to hung up on any of this just yet!

So after 'in the know' media telling us Wolves couldn't afford to extend Semedo's contract, the club does it.

Frankly, Rugeley I don't believe this E&S report (and I haven't even read it) as you and others have suggested and from the bits I've heard, it makes no sense. Fosun have restructured Wolves for the foreseeable future, at some cost I may add. We now have a top manager (Fosuns pre Nuno target) who they backed immediately to help eliminate the risk of relegation and declared when they took him on they would back him going forward. They also took on one of Europe's top football directors as head of scouting, (sorry name escapes me) so why would they need him if we were hamstrung by ffp?

Shi thought he knew enough about the game to involve himself in footballing matters along with his prodigy Scott Sellars and the disaster that some of us expressed concerns about earlier, nearly occurred. Thankfully it didn't as lessons were learn't and changes made, fair enough. In what parallel universe would owners allow that to all happen again, when they can afford not to. The original plan, apparently, was for Shi to be replaced by the guy from Grasshoppers this summer but he left to go home to China, however, changes might still happen.

There'll be players leaving but equally there'll be players coming in to facilitate the squad rebuild that most of us know is long overdue. We may not offload everyone JL doesn't want and we may not get all of our targets but there will be transfer activity and I'm pretty confident that overall the end result will be a more balanced and effective team.

I for one am looking forward to next season and predict that in such a restructured team Nunes will be a sensation, as the team will be built around him.

Well said arddunby, there'll be plenty of 'paper' talk and connections here and there, no doubt we'll mull it over get excited feel disappointed and moan and and groan but it'll be the first game of the season when we can, and only then, form a true opinion.

11.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 12:41:31
As I've posted above longmynd, the times today quote JL as saying he knew nothing of the FFP problems before and hoped the problems could be solved as you can't compete in the prem without investment. Who knows where things are going. Fosun may have to get the cheque book out and hope for the best to keep him.

12.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 13:07:05
Abbey you great ?
Loved your post with Old Wulf about going to Coventry in the 70's.
Arddunby voice of logic as I've read similar posts from you the last few weeks all speculation at present.
The increase in season ticket price should be followed up with fosun doing what they should;give fans the team lopetegui wants to enable him/us to compete next season.
Imo 2 or 3 top quality in the key areas needed we will be flying.
All will get better just patience required.
Understand patience is thin on the ground after 3 not good seasons.

13.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 13:25:32
I've no doubts they will Abbey, to restructure to the extent they have, then let the focal point of that restructuring go elsewhere would be beyond stupid. I also find it hard to believe that JL didn't ask questions about the club's ability to invest in new players and wasn't given assurances. He was after all bought in to rebuild the squad/team to push us back up the table.

How many times since Wolves were promoted have we heard that the club is hamstrung by ffp and yet we've managed to spend £375M during that period, not always wisely it has to be said. Personally, I'll reserve judgement until the start of next season because as you say until then it's just speculation.

14.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 16:12:38
Surely LongmyndWolf the Club communication should be much better?
Many agencies reporting Lepetegui wasn't told of financial restrictions.but then as you say, what manager wouldn't ask?!
All adds to the confusion.

15.) 19 May 2023
19 May 2023 17:35:19
Rugeley, he is the Manager not the Coach so he will be intimately aware of the clubs financial ability to carry out it's/his transfer plans, that's what he signed up for.

JL was a long term target for Fosun (pre Nuno) so I just can't see them finally getting him onboard only to screw him over, 6 months later. I understand the ire aimed at Shi but I don't think he would expect to get away with that.

16.) 20 May 2023
20 May 2023 07:07:56
LongmynWolf, the Semedo situation is more evidence of confused reporting.we have a big FFP issue stopping us extending the contract.oh, actually we don't!
There is no clear leadership from the top and it is hurting the Club.

17.) 20 May 2023
20 May 2023 10:19:13
It's only common sense to sign semedo on a 2 year extension so we can sell him for a good price if not needed you don't pay that much for a player and let him leave for nothing
