I have a bad feeling about this bloke Peixoro, I cannot put my finger on it, but it (if he signs that is) might be a retrograde step. Would have been better with Edwards, at least should have given him a go in the Championship. Just my view.

Don't know what this (possible) new coach might be like, but Edwards had to go; keeping him on was just delaying the inevitable. The fact that he wasn't sacked at the end of last season baffles me. But he is gone now, so onwards and upwards. Hopefully.

Problem is, Doog, what's the end game with Edwards? So, let's say it went to plan and he got us straight back up (which I'm not convinced he would have, BTW), but then what? I hate it when teams win promotion and then swiftly sack the manager because it seems insane, but that's what we would have had to have done. Robs had two cracks in the Prem now, both times he's been approx the fourth worst performing manager which the Prem has seen.
So what's the point in keeping a manager that you know isn't up to the task of competing at the level which you want/expect the team to play at? Yes, they could of and should of handled this better, but that doesn't make it the wrong decision.

Well said BB 11. Maybe RE's sacking wasn't handled to 'our' liking, but different cultures handle these things differently, and there's little or no sentiment in business, and football is, after all, big business.
People were moaning about Nathan Shi last season being a Jeff Shi clone & never hearing from him, and now he's shown his teeth, they're still moaning.
We don't know how this new guy will work out, but the decision's been made, and why not; let's face it, most of us were calling for RE to be sacked at the end of last season. Not only were the results poor, but formation, tactics, & substitutions were all questionable.
Maybe Shi had this new guy in mind all along, and used RE to keep the 'ship steady' during this quiet interim period until the timing was right to make the switch. At the top, that's what happens in business, as underhand as it may seem.
I don't know, but was the new guy recommended, or is he a Mendes client? If so, maybe we can start to attract some of the young Portuguese players that we used to, in combination with experience we already have & recently signed. At least this new guy will have a full preseason to work with the squad, whatever that might look like when the new season starts. Regardless of manager, I suspect we all expect to see quite a few changes of playing staff in the coming weeks, so let's hope Nathan Shi has appointed the right guy this time to get the players we need to move us forward.
We have a great looking new home kit, have just made two excellent experienced signings, retained Andre & Mane, so let's be positive that finally Fosun have woken up and plan to correct the mistakes of previous seasons.
