You appoint a manager like JL and you're looking at a team that aims towards getting back into Europe, appoint O'Neill and the target is avoiding relegation. I said last week I wasn't convinced by the 'open letter' and I've not changed my mind- we're still not getting the full story.

Blame. Fosun for me. They can moan about overspending in the last windows but for me there was an over-reliance on Uncle Jorge- yes he brought some great players in but then there were guys signed which helped his pocket more than the team (Guedes being one). Maybe Fosun realised- it's been very quiet on the Mendes front of late.

That said, JL is 'ambitious' and the lure of Madrid cost him the Spain job (I was living in Spain at the time so maybe have a different perspective on that). I do think he'd have walked if a better offer came in.

I do like O'Neill but can't help thinking if he's the answer then we're asking the wrong question. Hope I'm wrong but I do expect at least one more departure before the window closes- the optimism I felt after watching the Rennes game has diminished somewhat.

Not a lot we can do as fans, we have to get behind him and the team and see this season through.
We have more attacking options this year and looked ok preseason.
Not to mention, we got a USB cable and hat with our ST to keep us all happy with the price hike!

This first team is good enough for mid table but not the squad. What if Dawson or Kilman get a season ending injury in the first month?! That's Gomes Totti having to start every game all season and even then what if he gets injured?! We sold Collins and haven't replaced him, I didn't like JLs attitude but he was right about one thing, our squad is stupidly short of options/depth!

All these goings on must have been an open secret at the training ground and it doesn’t appear to have impacted negatively on squad morale. We have a really good squad with some outstanding individuals. Another centre back and a striker and I would be quite happy to go with that.
Scott looks a good prospect but I don’t see centre midfield as the priority area of need.

Slinger I kind of agree, I would have liked to see JLo knuckle down and have had a go at seeing this through but we are where we are. I hope the players respond sensibly to whoever comes in. My fear with the window still open is the squad being gutted in the next 3 weeks combined with an inability to get new players through the door even if they can be afforded.

Bit of a pig’s ear, leaving things this late but I am looking forward to the appointment O’Neil. I really liked what he achieved last year at Bournemouth and I think it is a positive appointment. He was very honest and straight talking in his press conferences and got his team playing with real flair at times. He certainly got a tune out of some individuals who had flattered to deceive under their previous manager. Finished below us last year but scored more goals.
One thing is certain, he has got to have a better dress sense than JLo!

The squad is good but doesn't seem matched to the manager. Some players will be angry that they came here to play for JL or have stayed because of him like Fabio maybe, and that could be an issue.

Will the new manager make it to Christmas or will he be GON?
