Apparently, Wolves will pay the release fee and Beale himself is eager to sign.

Not quite sure about this appointment as he's only had 14 games as a manager with a 50% success rate.

I know people like Gerrard are saying he is very knowledgeable but if he is so good and he was indeed the master tactician who was masterminding the training sessions at Villa last season, why then were Villa playing such poor football. Was this due to Beales input or Gerrard choosing the wrong (or his favourite) players week after week and finishing below us?

I'll 100% back whoever the new man is and hopefully Beale is the new Graham Potter.

I think this one may be worth a punt, him and Gerrard did well in Scotland but I think when they joined Villa they inherited a team of pretty much Championship quality players.

They went on to spend a bit and were doing better, but not this season without Beale, QPR on the other hand are rejuvenated. The truth is none of us has a crystal ball but the thought of a young, but football savvy manager does appeal.

As for his 50% success rate Jas, that's about 90% better than Lage achieved of late.

Beginning to look like he may be on his way to the Molineux.

There is a gamble with anyone that is appointed, there are no guarantees in this game at all, especially half way through a seaso when we are spent up.
Whoever it is let's just get behind them and be positive.

Les, who did they lose to last night? QPR need to complain about playing on consecutive nights as they're playing QPR tonight.

“Only has 50% success rate”

Erm he has won half the games. If we had won half ours we’d be at least 8th and above the likes of Liverpool.

You do realise 5 wins is 15 points right?

After their manager is heavily linked with leaving for a bigger club a team loses? Really. Must be because the manager isn’t good.

Can someone tell me Nuno’s record before joining us?

Can’t please some fans. No matter who they go for. Unless it were Pep or Zidane. Perspective: we are in a battle with awful form and just spent a lot of money on expensive players with owners that clearly expect big things and fans that are starting to sound a bit entitled and delusional thinking we are akin to PSG and Real Madrid. Add to that a lack of striker. Whoever comes in has a massive task mentally. The team don’t need a tactical wizard as such. They need someone that can do is mentally. And most managers on our list know that and would prefer to stay in their job. Right now we are a daunting prospect for any candidate.

Our start to last season was great but the tiny squad cost us. Maybe Nuno should have gone sooner and maybe Lage was the wrong choice. They are taking their time. They are having faith that if they get it right we will start to climb the table. We just need to get a manager that can get us playing and get the best out of our players. If this guy can do that then good!

Now I think he would be a bad choice simply because he has never dealt with this type of squad. We aren’t a team like Burnley and managers like Dyche would struggle. We need someone like Nuno. Nuno wasn’t tactically gifted. But he was a motivator and understood how to talk to players. We have some pretty big stars and youngsters that all need someone to lead. We have Moutinho and Neves and now Costa to do that from within the squad, but we still need a manager to do it.

The problem is I don’t think we can get that manager
And I don’t think the players we have will suit anyone we can get. They are all technically gifted and unfortunately need a true leader.

Since it looks like we are getting this Beale I think it means survival to rebuild. Expect to see our talent leave and be replaced with players you’d see in bottom half clubs. He will last maybe a season or two? Maybe only until the end. Hopefully. Hopefully Julen comes in at the end of the season and Beale uses his time with us to showcase his ability to Rangers. He gets us to finish 10th given our start and we get Julen and he goes to where he should and we are all laughing. Buy a marquee striker in the summer with a couple of defenders then Europa League could be in our cabinet soon!

DeadPixel, yes, Beale has won 50% of his 14 (FOURTEEN) games.

If it is to be Beale, whose to say he won't be a roaring success? At least it shows some out of the box thinking from the hierarchy and, personally,I'd much prefer an up and coming manager/coach than someone who is basically a recycled failure which is what most of the candidates in the frame appear to be. The trouble is that all the managers we'd ideally want already have top jobs. Some may mention Pochetino but he lost his job fairly quickly at both of his previous clubs so was hardly super successful even at money no object PSG.

No idea what to make of this one. Let's hope that if the guy is as technically gifted a coach as he's made out to be he can get these guys to gel. My real fear is multiple so called big names have turned us down.

It amazes me how people say they didn’t want an old manager who had been sacked for poor performances elsewhere, then they said they would like someone who was hungry and wanted to lead us, now we potentially have this people are still unhappy, seems no matter who we appoint people will still not be happy, pep, klopp or any other big name ain’t coming, let’s give micheal a chance, you never know he could be what’s the wolves need,

Well it's blatantly obvious that since Zenga the managers have been ones that were younger without baggage. Lambert the exception as he was a relegation firefighter. His successor Nuno we got lucky with, Lage we didn't get lucky.

This looks to me a "hedge" get lucky we're fine unlucky and we get to play championship level next season, we have a summer firesale and end up with an up and coming manager who can hopefully blood the more promising u21's Ronan, Campbell etc and bounce straight back.

What I'm struggling with right now is quantifying the odds. As others gave said its a huge gamble and like any gamble never stake what you can't afford to lose.
