Great bit of business if Wolves get 50mill for Larsen but they have to spend or it will all be for nothing.

If JSL goes, the club have to act fast and get players in. To improve the team I would approach Raheen Sterling as he has just been paid £200k of his £325k per week contract at Chelsea. Ask him to come on a short term deal until the end of the season, pay him £75k per week and sell the fact that he gets the opportunity to showcase his talent ready for another club to sign him in the summer. Do the same with Kalvin Phillips.

What we cannot afford to do is take the JSL and bring no one in.

Currently Napoli are being put off Sterling by his demands and they are in the Champs League! He's 31 and will be looking for one last large contract as such I think it would cost about half of our weekly budget for one player who has had a poor attitude for about three seasons! Besides which he will (rightly) have higher expectations than the circus we have become, I suspect he'll be off to Saudi to make silly money!
I'm not convinced signing past it crooks on stupid wages (Sterling, Philips etc) is worth the hassle when we are already as good as down.

Personally I think we should be looking at the best players in the Champ, try getting them in now while we still have a greater pull than the other teams in the league. For example Vipotnik (Swansea) or Hackney (Boro) they would probs still need some convincing but they are young and RE needs to start selling his new vision ?

Stirling has also got a preference for a London club. If staying up was realistic then maybe he's a good shout, but as others say paying 2 to 6 million depending on salary over 20 weeks when our odds of staying up are miniscule doesn't look a good deal when we will need finance in the summer.

Napoli were eliminated from the Champions League last night so they cannot dangle that particular carrot in front of him this season. A short term deal will give us fresh impetus and give him opportunity to convince bigger teams to give him one last hurrah. If he demands £300k per week then any club would walk away considering Chelsea have just given him a large % of his outstanding contract. But if he accepts a smaller salary, he'd be worth it.

I also thought he wanted to move further north as his family have now been the victim of crimes at least 3 times and he no longer feels safe where he is.

Sorry what I meant by Napoli was the fact that they have the money from a Champs League run, whereas we don't. Also I'm not convinced he is worth the money to be honest, he gives the impression of a player that's made his money and just wants an easy ride, like I say I wouldn't be surprised to see him get stupid money from a Saudi team.

I also think his pride would be a factor, let's be honest when you've just been cut by Chelsea you probs can't be arsed with a relegation scrap when your at a point in your career when you really don't need to do it ?
