Just wanted to say something I remember Nuno saying he wants a hard working organised team that hard to beat which if you wanna get promoted out the championship then your more than halfway there with that but also remember him saying which was quoted in one of the written articles I think him saying you don't have to spend loads of money which you don't if we can get a proven striker and another CM to partner Saïss and natural LB under Nuno I really don't think we'll be far off I don't I also think he's having a bigger say on transfers than everyone thinks.

The problem at the moment is the fact nobody is coming in for Costa. If BJ had £20m burning a hole in his pocket, a bid for assombalonga could happen. At the moment I can't see it.
We should also be in for Joe Ledley, but for some reason, are prepared to miss the boat with Aston Villa and Derby now favourites. It's all been very disappointing so far and makes me question Fosun's motives.

I know I'll get shot down for saying this but I think we only need 1 ball playing midfield, like Carrick. I think with the right coaching and tactics, we've got good players at the club. Zyro, Graham, Cav and Costa are brilliant options on the wings as well as Marshall who overcame his slow start and showed that he can deliver quality balls into the area. Saiss will be better now that he's had a period yo settle in and get used to the pace and hopefully Oniangue and Coady will show us their quality. Edwards will always push up top and get a few goals for us too. As I said, we just need a quality ball player to steady the ship. A full pre season for Nuno to in still his vision is vital.

Looks like Jordan Hugill From Preston is a done deal for around £3m. Not sure what to make of that really. Any thoughts? Also reported we are trying to sign Grant Leadbitter. I think that would be a good signing as we have lacked bite in midfield for a long time. He would probably pop up with half a dozen goals or so too.

There something that like about the lack of signings so far it tells me we won't be doing what we did last summer and we're taking more our time over them, but also I don't like it I'm sure you'll understand why on that behalf haha I also feel that most of budget will probably go on a striker maybe 2 also on a LB and CM so I'd expect maybe 5-6 signings in total the biggest worry for is getting rid of players as the players that are left are on quite long contracts and on big money and I think that's what will be the most concern this summer players leaving rather than coming in tbh.

You are right, tho, those players are definitely at the route of the disease. Lonergan, Iorfa, Batth, EEL, Saville, Price, Edwards, Evans, JDB and even Mason have ALL got to go. We wouldn't miss a single one.

I've heard that Nuno likes the fact that Iorfa is versatile and can play full back or central defence and has pace. With the right training his attacking flair could be an asset for us.

The club is probably working on 10-20 deals with the hope of signing 3-5.
We need to get rid of loads. EEL will go along with hopefully 4 or 5 of our midfield.
I'd only keep saias and price from the centre midfielders.
Evans is ok but needs to be playing. I hope we move forward from Edwards although he gives his all we need better quality.

The Southampton head coach has just been sacked. It's on the BBC website. It's fact. I'm just waiting for someone to report it as a rumour, when it's just a regurgitated story and also a fact.
A proper rumour to my mind is a sort of inside story that's leaked. Because we have too many midfielders it's easy to guess that so and so will leave, but it's still only a guess not a rumour. A few people on this site say things like, "my information is" when they're just guessing.
I too can't understand the criticism that players like Edwards and Iorfa get, but that's just my opinion. Edwards is an international and to all accounts did well in the Wales match. He runs his socks off for Wolves. Iorfa is an exciting talent but has often borne the brunt of defensive failures at Wolves. Nuno could turn Iorfa into a major player.

My 10 month old hardly slept last night. I may have gone too hard due to sleep deprivation.
I meant to add that I find it hard to read so many 'fans' knock our players, especially the young lads.
If you think back to last season, it was chaotic. Managers coming and going, new owners etc etc. Some of these lads are 20, 21. gibbs-white is 9 years old! So, can fans not realise that this would obviously be detrimental to their development?
House, Iorfa etc are excellent players for their age in the championship. Yes, the championship. Others (saville, price, evans) are pretty decent too. Not world beaters but pretty decent. Some of these kids even played in a title winning team for league 1. However, some are too quick to want to scream at them if they play 6 out of 10 in a game.
So, wouldn't it be better to keep these lads around and in a settled club with a settled management team and a supportive crowd?
Finally, Danny Batth. A bad championship centre back? Behave. I read on here one person say 'he's a liability with crosses'. Well, he had the highest clearance average in the league last season. His passing may not be amazing but surely he'd be fine next to a ball player.

Jamespd 1982 Saville is a load of crap, he can't pass when he does score it's always the same technique that if a goalkeeper is stupid enough he won't get. Saville needs to be sold, at 23 if he would have developed it would of been now. I for one disagrees with the treatment of Oniagiue and Saiss they both are good players and I still think Saiss should play centre back. If we played 5 at the back, we could play Batth Saiss and Roderick.

1877 I 100% agree with your list but would only ship out once we have shipped players in. So we are not racing around in August to sign players to fill the void and compromising on talent/ ability.
I would be interested in knowing what players Lambert would have moved on in the off-season. His list may have been the same as yours.

Was that game yesterday won't be the best football we will play but we proved we can compete physically and that's good to see just a quick word on bonatini, holds ball up well links play well and has excellent movement and also never moves from between the two CB which makes it easier to get in goal scoring positions and with that he'll get goals and that was reason he got the goal yesterday which is what you want from your striker and like I say also has excellent movement think he could be a gem tbh considering he hadn't kicked ball before yesterday match wise against two quality CBs who are also 5-6 weeks ahead in fitness I was impressed and think on reasons above he'll do well still need another tho.

Hello guys season starts again on Friday and can't wait till our game Saturday, but people keep saying will these players be able to deal with Saturday Tuesday Saturday for me this is reason why up to every game bar Leicester game we've had double sessions and trained on evenings and mornings before games to get the players as fit as possible to deal with this i'm sure that this is going to be massive benefit to us and they should be able to cope.

I just hope we don’t suffer later in the season. This isn’t an attack on foreign coaches but occasionally they don’t appreciate the physical toll it takes to play in the English leagues. I’m thinking of Klopp and Pocchetino. In their first seasons in England their teams started at a fast pace, but by the time they came to the end of the season their players looked knackered. Maybe if this Cathro comes onto the coaching staff he will be able to give the Portuguese coaches advice as to how to maintain the players’ fitness over the season.

Just wanted post this don't worry about yesterday it's pre-season it takes longer than 4 weeks to gel and to get used to a new style and formation it going to take at least a couple of weeks in to the season so just be patient, second jota& Gallagher will be very good signings in terms of creativity and scoring goals yes Gallagher scored 12 goals and people have pointed out that sako scored more yh he did but 5 of his goals were penalties with the likes of Cav, Costa, jota, Marshall, Graham, neves (who only looks like he's out for a couple of days lad on twitter had picture with him at hotel he's staying at asked him said two days) he'll get chances but we need stop worrying as I pointed out at the top.

Here's a question I have to admit it's not always the case that you need a 20 goal striker & tbh there was 4 of them last season 3 of them are in the prem, plus I don't get the impression he Nuno wants to have players who are to big for the boots and think there better than the club as if you look at neves he's not someone who thinks this and that, same with cav, Costa as well, and if dicko gets chances he'll score.

Barry Douglas has just posted a picture a video in Instagram story say chilling with the " skip " (skipper) danny batth. I think that put ends to any rumours of who the captain will be for next season as let's be honest the players will already know and with Edwards taking the captains armband in second half Saturday I think that tells you Nuno is keeping him as vice captain.
I know this may be a surprise to some people but to me it's not as Nuno has constantly banged on about the experience of the older players also tells ya DB ay going nowhere and as I say the players will already know who the captain is for next season so I doubt BD is wrong here.

Due to premier league starting a week after ours an Albion being at home on there opening day which is our second game means we'll be at home week before and I've got funny feeling it will be Ipswich or Bristol city like I said tinny both uncles well get yeovil in league cup.

I'd have him all day boro are favourites at 2/ 1 the us 6/ 1 then a massive cap to 14/ 1 the next it sounds to me as if boro are only favourites because SS reported they have interest I think the bookies now were after him too but just because there insterst has come for SS there favourites other wise I think we might be if you see what I'm saying here.
