Does anyone agree that Wolves recent failure to score goals and be effective in attack, stems from the inability of Douglas and Doherty to get forward and provide a potent attacking influence. The 3 4 3 system depends on the strength of the wing backs to a great extent, and in my view it simply isn't happening. They were brilliant earlier on in the season creating lots of chances for Jota and Bonatini. Why have they stopped racing down the wings. Perhaps they are knackered or have become complacent. Either way it needs sorting out in my view.

1.) 24 Feb 2018 10:25:17
Wolves haven't got a problem scoring. We've scored 8 goals in 4 matches in Feb. The problem isn't general defending either, it's defending from set pieces that have cost us over the last 2 games.

2.) 24 Feb 2018 11:14:33
In my opinion we haven’t been the same team since before the Xmas fixtures apart from maybe sheff Utd and as for people knocking Afobe in my view he came on with out having much supplied to him as costa and cav were took off in my opinion if he gets the supply he will score the goals but he seems to be a confidence player like a lot a forwards so I would start him for a few games as then we have at least the option of Cav or Costa coming of the bench as Nuno doesn’t seem to rest Jota.

3.) 24 Feb 2018 12:54:20
I agree Douglas has scored 4 goals and 10 assists, Doherty has scored 2 goals and 3 assists, I beleve we will need a more attacking replacement for Doherty he seems to get more of the ball than most but does not deliver a decent final pass or shot.

4.) 24 Feb 2018 13:38:14
I must point out that those stats for goals and assists between the two wing backs are heavily skewed because Douglas takes free kicks and corners whereas Doherty doesn't! Seeing how Doherty has been performing all season and the work he puts in, to say he needs to be replaced is really harsh!

Remember he has played every league game and two cup matches whereas Douglas has alternated with Vinagre.

5.) 24 Feb 2018 14:31:09
I don't think that's right the wing backs have been pegged back by teams we play which disrupts our style we then rely on Saiss N'Daiye Neves to push the ball through the middle usually meeting some nasty defending the long balls from Coady end up being our best way of getting the ball forward because our front row beats them all in open play remember Sheffield United that's how we will win.

6.) 24 Feb 2018 18:20:35
I agree that Doherty's work rate cannot be faulted but his final ball has not been very good also, he has not got anyone pushing him for his position, a good squad player but we need better quality from this position, just my opinion.

7.) 24 Feb 2018 18:22:39
Wolves overrated, fans unrealistic. A poor Championship season and overrated, lazy journeymen - likely finish 3rd and lose play-off semi. Best teams in League are Aston Villa and Fulham - finish in top
two. Sheff. United to win play-off final. Nuno will
be sacked. Mid-table Championship
next season: playing WBA, Stoke, Shrewsbury. No change.

8.) 24 Feb 2018 19:39:40
Do one wobbly were top and have been all season.

9.) 24 Feb 2018 19:45:55
Your so delusional! We will be promoted. Simple as! Just having a bad spell the same as any team!

10.) 24 Feb 2018 19:49:41
WHO'S this knobblyBobbly infiltrater
Dont think you've got much to sing about if your a steptoe fan.

NOW BOG OFF YOU SCUTTER.

11.) 24 Feb 2018 19:54:48
WobblyBobblies - you are either a closet baggie fan or you are completely deluded. A few bad results and jumping on the band wagon of wanting Nuno gone? The only wheels that will have fallen off are the wheels on your cart wanting Nuno gone. Fickle fan.

12.) 25 Feb 2018 09:09:35
Getting back to last night and ignoring the wobbly piffling garbage. I think Doherty showed a lack of concentration last night, crosses were way off he didn't track back at all for their first, Costa seem at a loss what to do once he got in a position and bonatini in fairness did get in decent positions but didn't get service (poor apart from) . Afobe should have got a shot in quicker Jota miss! who'd have thought it. Ruddy? Some strange decisions and I thought should have had second covered. A bad night all around we all have those at some point.

13.) 25 Feb 2018 18:23:14
Talk facts, truth. For next season, Ruddy should be replaced by Joe Hart - Batth restored to captaincy and replace Bennett - for leadership and work ethic missing with tippy-tappy Portuguese. Then Afobe replace Bonatini - who is too slow and lacks confidence. So there - reality - Wolves are a bang-average team in a weak Championship season. Maybe play-offs again next sason.

Did you hear that low life Jamie Carragher{spits in the face of a 14 year old girl}scouse git! at the weekend. He said after the match that he couldn't relate to the people who had predicted Wolves to be in the top ten this season, and questioned the people who had made that claim insinuating that it was unthinkable. In steps big Mick who says he was one of them and that he was sticking to his prediction. Well said Mick always be welcome at the Mol.

FRANKO

1.) 27 Aug 2018 11:13:55
Carragher has always been a vile thug imo I care not for anything he has to say.

2.) 27 Aug 2018 11:32:33
Ignore it all Franko.
Predictions are just guesses, crystal-ball gazing.
The positives ones hold as much weight as the negative ones.
Just enjoy what our boys are doing.
UTW.

3.) 27 Aug 2018 19:48:47
Where were those comments Franko? As much as I dislike Carragher and scousers I can only find him saying Wolves were "brilliant" against Man City. Really hope I've missed something I can throw back at pretend scouse fans at work tomorrow morning! ( who all said we would lose five nil! )

4.) 27 Aug 2018 23:04:42
The comments were at the end of the post match interview.

5.) 28 Aug 2018 13:04:05
If he did say such things Franko, let Wolves answer with results. Quite a few "expert" pundits were commentating when we were last in the PL and formed impressions then. We are a completely different team and club now. Full marks to Mad Mick in recognising this.

Santo looks a great appointment to me, almost the best appointment possible. Whether you love or hate Mendes he's there and he has a lot of power. Santo and Mendes know each other very, very well and I see them working very close together on transfers in a way that Lambert would not have been able to. I believe that Fosun this time have a very definite intent to achieve promotion and that Mendes will have been made well aware of the required aims. I think that any players that are signed this time, will be after the careful consideration of Santo and Mendes unlike the rushed approach of last year. Also, having read earlier articles about Santo when he was the Manager of Porto, he has stated his desire to Manage in England in the Prem, and for this reason I think he will be driven. I do hope Wolves appoint Santo as these could be exiting times.

God help us if results go against us. I think every fan will turn against the board.

2.) 26 May 2017 16:11:35
Just like this season Jas! Absolutely Dire!

3.) 26 May 2017 19:01:27
Come on Wolves fans let's chear up the appointment of a new coach/ manager whatever you want to call him as got to be better than the dire football that Lambert played.
Santo done well at Porto and at is other clubs, think it can be a great appointment to what we have been used to, if he comes.

The side we put out yesterday was not too far away from the best starting eleven available in my opinion.

Exceptions would be Edwards for Saville (who in my opinion is next to useless) and Dicko for Bright. Other sensible considerations would be to start Cav who is in my view a very good player, he just needs to settle a bit (he is a good crosser of the ball and creates many chances when he comes on as a sub) . 'Oh' and please let's forget about bringing Wallace on as a Sub.

I think Lambert will sort out the defence to be effective with what we have, with perhaps maybe one change at CB. They just need to be better organised and I think Lambert will sort that.

Also, I would just to those who think we don't need a striker 'open your eyes'We are desperate for an effective goal scorer. I think we had one strike on goal yesterday.

FRANKO

1.) 20 Nov 2016 10:34:50
Quality centre half, creative midfielder and Quality striker in Jan! My team for Saturday, 4.4.2, Ikeme if fit, iorfa, Stearman, Hause, Doc, Costa, Price, Sais, Cavaleiro, Dicko, Bodvarson. Captain Price.

2.) 20 Nov 2016 12:08:33
That's a good shout paul mate I completely agree with that line up.

3.) 20 Nov 2016 13:03:49
Echo what's been said, we still need TWO top quality goal scoring strikers, a creative and verbal leader in midfield who scores regularly as minimum in the window to start moving in the right direction. 😉.

4.) 20 Nov 2016 13:06:23
Good point taken at Preston from a good side who are playing well but we need to start winning matches, Cavaliero played well put some nice balls over should of started with him, Saville was a surprise selection also Wallace coming on before Cavaliero and we seamed to have a bit of luck the last minute when defence got away with giving Preston an open goal it's alright saying we did not let a goal in but it was only by luck.
We need a goalscorer, centre half and creative midfielder with goals in him.
Players to me like Saville and Wallace are not doing it for me at moment when they are given chance, they have to play better or be moved on.

5.) 20 Nov 2016 18:55:03
Me too PT but I don't see Batth being dropped I would like to see Price get a run in the team and if he is good as captain then definitely play him.

Subs Edwards, Coady, Enobakhare, Oniangue if fit, Silvio, Mason, goalie.

6.) 21 Nov 2016 13:47:16
Batth suspended.

31 Oct 2016 22:45:58
Any one of the three on the shortlist would be a good choice. For me they they have all past success on their CV's and they are all experienced Managers (except perhaps Sherwood but he had a very good record at Spurs, which is no mean event) . Yes they have all been sacked at some time but how many Managers haven't. My preference would be Lambert who did a great job at Norwich getting them promoted twice. Please would the people that keep harping on about Steve Bruce move on. Steve Bruce has a far from impressive record overall and Wolves fans didn't want him a few years ago. He's not available move on!

Having listened to Walter Zengas latest interviews I must express concern about his views on implementing a rotation system. In my view the best fit 11 should play every match. By all means rest players if the circumstances dictate it, meaning that if there are 7 games in 22 days then clearly you need some rotation to cope with the demand. However, to play as he has suggested, one team on the Saturday and a completely different team on the following Tuesday, is in my view a recipe for disaster. You need your star in form players, playing, as far as possible, every match. As we all know the Championship is a very competitive league and I can't see us getting very far by extensively adopting a rotation system with up to 22 players. A measure of this is that I consider we would have won both the Rotherham and Huddersfield games (both games I attended) if we had played our best team for 90 minutes and not for only 45.

I am very positive about Wolves generally right now, in common with most of the Wolves supporters but I am also worried about having a strong team but not using them in an effective manner.

FRANKO

1.) 08 Sep 2016 22:38:52
I heard the same interview and I think you've missed the point. I think he was trying to say he now has 2 teams available to him. He said that if needs be he could select 2 entirely different team if required.

2.) 09 Sep 2016 07:06:29
Oh I wish I was the manager, I'd be so much better at it. (Ironic)

3.) 09 Sep 2016 07:38:46
You've picked on one point Jas M, that I used to demonstrate that the rotation policy could involve extensive changes, and Mr Zengas repeated comments in interviews, certainly state that.

However, I am more interested to hear what other people have to say about the rotation policy generally. I know we can't change anything and the Manager will do what he wants to do, but I have to say that the possibility of fielding a side that has Saville, Price and Edwards/ Evans in central midfield fills me with dread, particularly given the players we now have at our disposal.

4.) 09 Sep 2016 07:51:05
Not a fan of rotation, u pick your strongest 11 week in week out, that way they gel together as a unit. Look at Leicester they used the fewest number of players and won the Prem. Walt pick your best 11 and stick with it when possible!

5.) 09 Sep 2016 07:51:50
I think Zenga now has players available to chop and change in order to find the most effective team. Let's be fair, last season KJ didn't really have that option. The way I look at it is that we have strength in depth to cover injuries and suspensions. Zenga won't make wholesale changes every game just 1 or 2 to keep the team fresh, just like most teams do anyway.

6.) 09 Sep 2016 09:39:01
IN WALTER I TRUST.

7.) 09 Sep 2016 09:39:44
I suppose his idea is have a squad of equally good players so he hasn't got a best 11 but maybe a best 16 or 17 and we don't actually miss players like we did Graham, Dicko and Zyro. It's too much to play the same starting XI at all times as gets proved year on year. The championship requires depth to the squad hence why we were flawed last season.

If tomorrow we play a front 3 of Cav - Bod - John but Tuesday we plaed Graham - Dicko - Costa I don't think we are playing a weaker side for this level. (when those players are fit obviously) . Then you flip a coin, better to have consistency or better to have players always giving 100% to prove themselves rather than resting on their laurels as they know they're guaranteed a game week in week out which in turn maybe halts progress (Hause/ Iorfa) .

8.) 09 Sep 2016 09:44:26
That makes sense Jas M 1 or 2 changes is good to keep them fresh if need be, but I have to agree with others on here if we play a midfield of the one we played against Huddersfield first half we have no chance the stats showed we only had 25 per cent of the play and that to me tells the story when second half with the changes we made were unlucky not to Draw or win the match, but the damage was done first half and I am sure Zenga will know that.

9.) 09 Sep 2016 10:20:44
Always play your best eleven. I think when we won the league one season we only used 13 players. (i stand to be corrected) .

10.) 09 Sep 2016 16:40:10
Rotation doesn't usually mean massive changes each week just one or two which is probably no different to what Kenny did.

Anyone remember Mick playing a second eleven at ManU midweek so he could keep the best team for Blackpool I think it was on the Saturday. Now that's rotation!

11.) 09 Sep 2016 21:13:20
I think what Walt was trying to say is he could field two strong elevens if needs be.
He won't and never will make eleven changes league game to league game,
we all know that, what he's saying is if any player is injured fatigued etc etc,
He has a replacement, who in his opinion won't weaken the team, or weaken his system.
We all wanted more strength in depth, you got it.
The Zenga bus is comin. get on board make some noise.
Three points and a classy performance.
We can make a big statement tomorrow.

Having attended all recent games at home and away I am very concerned at the response of Nuno to the latest defeat.

One loss means nothing we all know that but the problem is a lot deeper. Not only are we not creating chances, we seem to have no ability to shoot either. One goal in five games says it all. No shots on target for the last two games against poor teams should send alarm bells going. To say oh well its only one loss in thirteen games is in denial of the problem.

I hope there is a striker on the horizon either on loan or permanent before the end of January if not then I fear the worst.

Agree entirely with PT we should play the best 11 as often as we can. Saville and Evans seem capable of playing above themselves for the special occasion and that's it, then they revert back to being poor players. These two cost us dearly at Burton as they were both very weak and we were left with nothing in midfield. No playmaker so only one option 'lump it'.

I hate the rotation system that does not allow time for any regular familiarity between the players, and often results in weaker teams, and as a result poor results alia 'Burton'

Why highly paid professional footballers are unable to play two games a week I really don't know. I remember when Wolves regularly played three games over the Easter period alone. I could name the team now that played in those games in the 60's, as the players simply roll off your tongue. The best players played in every game.

PL is doing great and my only criticism would be on the rotation system and the replacement of good players for bad ones.

Also on Prince and Saiss they are both good players in my opinion. Why let Prince go on loan and keep the other two donkeys I mentioned earlier. Seems crazy to me!

Pauls team for Burton Albion would also be my team. Supported by substitutes that must include Coady, Mason and Iorfa. Coady and Mason have both played very well and don't deserve to be dropped but you can only play 11.This is a great problem to have and it begs the question about Dicko when he is ready.

I don't think Nuno would sell Douglas without being certain that he has a suitable replacement who is a high performer and Jonny is not that. I would say Gonçalo Guedes is the likely replacement given that he has repotedly been promised to a premier league club. Wolves have been chasing Guedes for a number of weeks. What a statement that would be if they were to pull that one off.

'Wolves Coast' you have such a lot to say (mainly negative) yet by your own admission you don't attend the matches, because as stated by you, you live too far away to attend the games. Yet you have so much to say!

I live in York some 150 miles from The Mol, and I am a season ticket holder.

Everyone's entitled to their views whether they go to the matches or not, I accept that, but please try and see things in a positive light otherwise you will simply be very unhappy.

The way to rectify the lack of shots on goal would be to play Ronan in the number 10 position. This along with playing Price and Saiss in midfield, Costa and Weighman on the wings, and Dicko or Jon Dadi up front. Regretably we don't have anyone else to play up front but I feel Ronan at number 10 would put him in a good position to have a few shots. The defence for Chelsea game would be Ikeme Coady, Williamson, Hause and Doherty.

The above team for Chelsea would be the best available in my view. On the bench I would have anyone except for Saville and Evans, but knowing Lambert both of these players (if you can call them that) will probably be in the starting eleven.

I tend to agree about Dicko. I would love him to be the Dicko of old but I fear that will never happen. We desperately need a good striker above all else. To continue to play Dicko isn't doing him or the team any good as he continually spurns chances and denies chances for his team mates. Sad I know but I also think he has to go, or at least is rested for a time.
