It appears Rayan Ait-Nouri is off to Nice according to Foot Mercato. Thoughts?

Belfastwolf

1.) 23 Dec 2022 16:11:55
Depending on the price.
Could be a big loss, the lad has bags of potential.

2.) 23 Dec 2022 18:53:56
I hope not, he will get better and better.

3.) 23 Dec 2022 22:00:20
I would hope not unless it's the ghost of Sellars past come back to haunt us.

4.) 24 Dec 2022 11:31:00
IMO RAN would have made a good wide midfielder in a 4. Not sure that's how JLo sees us playing which might explains this rumour.

19 Jun 2022 17:05:34
According to BBC Sports Transfer Rumours, Wolves seeking £45m for Ait- Nouri with Chelsea and City interested. Also, City open to letting Zinchenko go. Maybe a swap deal be possible with Wolves chasing him on few occasions? Mind, think he may have turned us down previously.

Belfastwolf

1.) 20 Jun 2022 08:11:50
I would take zinchenko and 15million, in which wolves would pocket half due too not owning all player rights, but I hope we can keep him, he is improving so quick

2.) 20 Jun 2022 09:34:34
Zinchenko has supposedly tuened us down before if true I would rather keep RAN I think. No real point in wasting time going after players who are half hearted about being here.

3.) 20 Jun 2022 11:06:33
Zinchenko doesn't want to play at LB / LWB he wants to play in the MF (I'm not too sure if that is why he turned Wolves down?)

31 May 2022 12:12:24
Well, straight from Jeff Shi's mouth: We will not be spending big in the summer. A few windows back he told us the money was there if the right players become available. Heaven knows where that money went then, or was it to keep Lage sweet?

Belfastwolf

1.) 31 May 2022 12:41:27
What a joke! Relegation battle next season then?

2.) 31 May 2022 12:43:55
I heard it as 'We don't earn as much as the bigger clubs so can't spend as much as them but we are growing the income streams in other ways'

3.) 31 May 2022 13:04:47
Perhaps, just perhaps, he's playing his cards close to his chest. Let's face it if he said, 'Yeah we have £300m to spend' Wolves' target parent clubs would suddenly be upping the price of their players? Just a thought.

4.) 31 May 2022 13:13:41
Same as how I heard it Jas.

5.) 31 May 2022 13:26:53
Wolves have to address the lack of goals and also probably the midfield if/when Neves leaves and those players will have to be at least as good if not better as what we've had.
I know they also want to introduce academy players as they develop to the right level, so we may see more of the likes of MGW and Cundle, etc.
Which is fine so long as we are not 'relying' on too many youngsters.
Either way to talk of relegation at this stage is nonsense.

6.) 31 May 2022 13:45:48
What do peeps mean by 'spending big'. We can never match the big boys, and frankly should not try. Big for us has to be relative and within our earning capacity. If we spend beyond that for one year we have to cut back the next to balance. I like what Geoff says, prudence before vanity.

7.) 31 May 2022 14:52:27
BelfastWolf, tell me where in that interview did it come straight from Jeff’s mouth that “we will not spend big”?
Like others such as Jas M have already replied, our spending is totally different to other clubs and there is a 20 yr plan (not 10 yrs).
Long term stability and growth year on year in squad size, infrastructure and income streams (which are being expanded constantly.
Also, you don’t announce to a selling club that there is plenty of money to spend as we all know what happens (eg: sir Jack).
I never cease to be amazed how many fans love to predict our doom!
Don’t forget we have money available, money coming in from players out on loan (Vinagre, etc.) plus any sales we may allow.
Oh and stop believing everything you read on Newsnow. They are trying to sell stories.

8.) 31 May 2022 15:22:03
Be on long enough for all to know my thoughts.
Come on me babies.

9.) 31 May 2022 17:25:12
A few at high prices or more at more realistic prices? It could mean anything.

10.) 31 May 2022 20:02:25
In reply to Tommo1970, on the Wolves site today in interview Jeff Shi said, verbatim: "J.S. has warned W.W.supporters that Fosun will not be spending big in the transfer window". Now take that whatever way you like. Just quoting directly what he said.

11.) 31 May 2022 21:56:01
I agree with Rated and Jas's reading of what was said.

Also what does spending big mean? is that £300 mill,200 mill,100 mill as teams like Chelsea and Spurs are promising to spend 150mill+.

I doubt we'll spend that much but if we spend for example net 50 million (which in premier league terms is about average based on last seasons summer window) then I'd expect us to be stronger next season than this which if so sticks to the original 10 years plan and should not be sniffed at (or derided).

NB by net I mean on top of any money gained from sales just to avoid any confusion.

12.) 01 Jun 2022 09:58:45
Belfast: the fact that your quote starts with ‘JS states’ mean that someone else wrote it, he didn’t say it.
After today’s revelation that they are continuing to build up the revenue streams and looking at stock market investment in 2-5 yrs means they have a long term strategy to make and keep us at the higher end of the premier league.
That my friend is how to build a sustainable business, not by splashing ridiculous sums of money and falling away after 5 years!

13.) 01 Jun 2022 12:20:11
Obviously, Tommo, you haven't even bothered to read the interview. You're getting in to semantics. He gave the interview (ok-allegedly)to Alex Dicken and it's still there now. Read the first paragraph. Of course, you can put your own spin on it.

14.) 01 Jun 2022 13:25:20
Yes Belfast I’ve read it. I wouldn’t call it a spin but my opinion is that they are poking towards a long term plan to make the club sustainable for years to come. He also says he would spend if it was to the benefit in the long term.
While I appreciate you have your own opinion, my take is that everything he is saying is from a business point of view and if it means that we are still a top ten premier club in 10 yrs then I for one would see that as a huge improvement on the previous 40 yrs of my Wolves experience.
Let’s not forget, it takes time to build these new funding streams and as he says about the issues that Newcastle will face it’s about sustainable income year on year. Makes sense to me

15.) 01 Jun 2022 13:44:07
We don't have to spend big to improve the squad.

We do not require a keeper to replace Ruddy - Sarkic and Sondergaard will give us cover. We do not require any wing backs as with Semedo, Jonny, RAN, Giles and Hoever we have plenty of cover. Would be nice to bring in a Centre back but with Coady, Kilman, Toti, Mosquera, Boly and Donk all capable of playing there maybe one addition (either Tarkowski on a free) or look at either (Oscar Mingueza - part of the Neves deal) or Merih Demiral or Goncalo Inacio who have been linked in the past. Midfield is interesting but if we can get in Nico and Puig (as part of the deal for Neves) I would take it, with Palinha and promote Cundle this would leave us good competition in midfield with or without Moutinho (who I would keep). Wide attacking positions are covered with Neto, Podence, Hwang and Chiquinho. The striking department is where we urgently need reinforcements - take a look at Myram Boadu or Hugo Ekitike both around the £15-20M mark and/or Emmanuel Dennis who scored goals for Watford.

In evaluation if we sell Neves (and replace with the 3 talented players Barcelona are offering), Traore, Boly and Dendonker (who would be surplus if got the players in), MGW (who probably would want a move to Forest) and Jimenez (try to get a sizeable value before its nothing) with the wage saving from Ruddy, Saiss and Marcal we would probably break even with most of the players we require.

OK i'm not Lage/Shi or Sellars but these are players that are not out of our reach.

16.) 01 Jun 2022 18:42:13
I fear a relegation battle too like never before since Fosun anyway

Our team looks tired we need an injection of dynamism up front and strength at the back

17.) 02 Jun 2022 23:11:18
Excellent post CYRU5.

I'd also add as CB cover we could call on Marques who has excelled for the U23's (according to the U23 manager).

For striker we also have Dadashov returning from loan - didn't have a great time stats wise (2 goals in 23 games) but has looked good coming back from a cruciate ligament tear and may be worth a go next season (especially if does well pre-season).

04 Jan 2022 11:53:04
According to Football Insider Wolves are in talks with Spurs to bring Doherty back to Molineux. Maybe in swap plus cash deal with Traore.any thought guys?

Belfastwolf

1.) 04 Jan 2022 12:11:10
I like Doherty but he is our past now

2.) 04 Jan 2022 12:13:05
Bruno did say he was looking for a WB, what I'm wondering is (if true) where it would leave Ki-Jana Hoever?

3.) 04 Jan 2022 12:18:11
I think that would be poor business to be honest. We NEED Traore (as the break through in yesterdays game proved) if we can't keep him then we at very least need a decent fee to replace him with. Docs is decent but with Jonny returning soon where does he play exactly?! Is Semedo going as well cause that's the only way I see this making sense?!

4.) 04 Jan 2022 12:53:17
Only at half price or less, straight cash deal, Matt is 30ish and Wing back is a physically demanding role. If Adama leaves I would like to see a straight cash deal with add ons, if we have to let him go on the cheap, not that I think he has much more to be developed but that's just a personal opinion.

5.) 04 Jan 2022 13:12:26
Bullys I have seen Semedo linked with Athletico Madrid as a potential replacement for Kieran Trippier.
I still wouldn’t go for Doherty and don’t see why Johnny can’t be deployed on the right with Hoever as decent cover.

6.) 04 Jan 2022 13:26:17
Regarding Doc, nice bloke did a good job for us but the old saying "never go back" is said for a reason! Don't see the sense of it, agree with BB on this.

7.) 04 Jan 2022 14:02:57
I'd take Doc on a free. His wages are probably a lot higher at Spurs, which would rule out a transfer fee in my opinion. If we sell Traore to Spurs, £20mil is far, far too little. Look what a difference he made last night, with the cross that led to the goal. Hopefully a bidding war will develop between Spurs, Hammers and Liverpool, and maybe Real Madrid for good measure. If any coach can get the best out of Traore, they will have a bargain on their hands.

8.) 04 Jan 2022 15:00:27
Loved doc but he didn't need any pushing to leave did he and I agree in the saying never go back as imo Ronaldo has done more harm than good at utd. Dressing room has gone tits up with player's possibly ot happy with his return

9.) 04 Jan 2022 15:06:03
I am/was a massive Doherty fan but agree with Deep, (and the majority of other posters above), that, even if he takes a fairly chunky cut in his wages, we should only be interested if he is on a free.
At Spurs he is miles away from regular football as his game has fallen off a cliff but is costing them big time in wages. Consequently they are not in a strong position to demand a fee and we are hardly desperate for him back - (we would surely only take him back if we think we can get him back to where he was before he left us but that is a big if and given his age I am far from certain a gamble I would want to place much money on!) - as Semedo is a perfectly competent RWB and Hoever is probably an acceptable back up. Yes not a glowing reference for two players who cost us over £40m but that is the past as sadly Doherty might well be as well.
Therefore Jeff if you are negotiating with Levy, ( heaven help us),don't be a wimp and give them what they want do what is right for us - play hard ball with Spurs and Doherty!

10.) 04 Jan 2022 15:11:14
I think that ship has sailed with Doc we have semedo and Hoever cover and if I'm right Jonny is naturally a RWB playing on the left with have ait Nouri and marcal on the left so Doc would be at least 3rd in the pecking order doesn't make any sense
We need cover for the CB position and attacking midfielder and maybe another striker Silva looked good coming on last 10mins yesterday he needs a good chance start him in the Cup give Raùl a rest.

11.) 04 Jan 2022 15:52:23
Doc has done nothing at Spurs, he will not be an improvement for our squad. In his last 6 months with us he was a shadow of what he was. Levy is looking for a mug to take on his problem.

12.) 04 Jan 2022 16:13:23
I was like most a big Doc fan, but that time has gone and we have moved on, I would prefer to keep Adama, as he showed last night he scares the opposition and they end up putting 2 or more defenders on him leaving space for others or fouling him in positions giving us good dead ball opportunities. if Doc returns he will be a squad player and I cannot see him wanting that.

13.) 04 Jan 2022 18:48:19
NES-Saddly that's the only thing that would make sense of it for me, as I could definitely see Nelson wanting to head back to La Liga to play for titles again! I hope it's not the case cause it would be awful transfer managment on our part to wait till Semedo FINALLY becomes useful and then sell him to be replaced by an inferior and more to the point older Doherty! I hope that's not the case cause I actually think our defense is one quality (young) CB short of being excellent under Bruno!

14.) 04 Jan 2022 20:01:32
BB - could it be Sanderson? Every time I have seen him - albeit only a few times and always on the TV and in a lower league for either Cardiff or Sunderland - he has been superb

15.) 04 Jan 2022 22:00:16
14 goals in 14 games suggests it already is excellent,BB. To be breached only twice in three games ( including a dodgy penalty) against three of the top five sides in Europe ( that's Man C, Liverpool and Chelsea by the way) says it all.

16.) 04 Jan 2022 22:21:10
Old Wulf there is absolutely no doubt that you are correct - the figures simply don't lie!.
However Saiss is 31 and Boly (30) may sadly be done so a new young CB, be it Yerson, Sanderson or A.N Other is probably essential for it to remain so and in reality - given Boly is maybe done already and Yerson is currently injured and totally unproven - is possibly needed now to provide cover and depth (Saiss is off for a few weeks now for example)?

17.) 04 Jan 2022 22:56:29
I actually agree Old however what it lacks is depth (hence I said a young player) which I think we are about to find out as Saiss is going to be a HUGE miss these next 6 weeks! Credit to Romain as I never thought I'd say that but he has REALLY improved with age! Also with this isn't that another contract which also needs looking at (Saiss)?
And agreed TFG, let's hope that Sanderson can step up to that role. I've only seen in play in a cup game if honest but as I keep saying Lage has built a career on developing young players, pretty sure that's mostly what got him the job! In Bruno we trust ??

18.) 04 Jan 2022 23:16:38
For those who actually go to the games, what happens when traore gets the ball and goes on a run, he gets the fans out their seats and screaming, pure excitement, can't see what other player has that same effect

19.) 05 Jan 2022 11:27:57
Demon back in the 80's and 90's we had a number of players that used to get you out of your seat screaming but it wasn't for the same reason! Sadly. If Traore goes I for one will miss him!

30 Aug 2021 17:50:48
According to Football Insider, Wolves have signed a 17y. o. midfielder from Man City for £500k. Harvey Griffiths.

Belfastwolf

1.) 30 Aug 2021 19:55:48
Great not what we need though.
We need a striker! And we aren't linked to any.
I'm worried about Raul now 3 games no goals and we don't play to his strengths. Which is great as the football is more attractive but he isn't getting the service he did under Nuno.
If they rate Botman they should get it over the line.
But I think we are weaker in midfield and a striker (not a forward like Hwang) .

2.) 30 Aug 2021 20:08:27
£350k mate he's gone in the U23s.

3.) 30 Aug 2021 20:57:20
Botman deal off. What a joke our recruitment team are, had all summer to finally get a CB in that's been needed for the last 3 years and looks like the best we can do is a lad from Fulham who's no better then what we have and even that might not happen.

4.) 30 Aug 2021 21:19:08
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I hope they have things sorted.
You can't come out foe weeks saying 3-4 signings and not deliver.
We have 1 but we do need another 3.

5.) 30 Aug 2021 21:26:29
Renato Sanchez. 👀👀👀👀
Gibbs white on loan to Bournemouth.

6.) 30 Aug 2021 21:33:37
It's not really fair what we're asking Raul to do. We're totally dependent on him again already and he's just not up to it yet. We need a quality replacement and give him the time to get his sharpness back. Assuming that will ever happen.

7.) 30 Aug 2021 21:34:01
Renato Sanchez incoming.

8.) 30 Aug 2021 22:06:25
What about Mosquera? He’s a cb that we’ve signed. I’m sure if fosun could have got someone in sooner they would have. And we have signed 6 players so far this summer along with a few more u23’s.

9.) 31 Aug 2021 06:41:54
I agree Sharesum. I'd love raul to get back scoring but maybe he isn't back as quick as the club expected.
It too big a risk to wait till January in my opinion.
Get a striker Wolves take the pressure off the squad so the forwards (Raul and Neto) can come back fit rather than rushed back.
Goatmark we have been linked with 4 cb's so the club are working on the deal. Mosquera was never seen as the first team starter straight away.

10.) 31 Aug 2021 09:42:10
Doubt now over Sanchez deal.

11.) 31 Aug 2021 14:01:57
Gibbs-White to Sheffield Utd on loan.

Shambolic defending. You could write the script MGW to score, but Sa grasping at thin air. Doh!

Belfastwolf

1.) 13 Apr 2024 15:57:25
Foul by Gibbs-White, push on Semedo where's VAR this week!

2.) 13 Apr 2024 16:47:39
Is he the most disrespectful player you have ever seen celebrating the goal is one thing but shushing wolves players aswell

3.) 13 Apr 2024 17:04:34
He's so over rated. He was average today. The media only talk about him because he's English but let's be honest, he ain't ever getting into the England team ahead of Foden, Bellingham, Saka, Rashford, Gallagher, Bowen, JWP etc.

Jeff Shi did an amazing job getting £25m plus add ons for him.

4.) 13 Apr 2024 18:08:50
Over rated by himself Jas!

07 Apr 2024 17:48:42
Fabio Silva subbed off in the Old Firm game today as he was in danger of injuring himself rolling around the grass.

Belfastwolf

1.) 07 Apr 2024 18:56:03
You mean rolling around on the grass because he was fouled and won a penalty?

2.) 07 Apr 2024 20:39:44
No, he was booked for the theatricals in winning the penalty. As the commentators said, he was throwing himself on the ground the whole game.

3.) 07 Apr 2024 22:57:53
I must have been watching a different game then.

The one that was played today and finished 3-3 did see Fabio Silva given a yellow card for 'diving' only for the ref to overturn his decision, give the penalty and rescind the yellow card.

4.) 08 Apr 2024 10:17:42
Think there’s plenty of comment from north of the border about Silva’s disgraceful play acting yesterday including our very own Kenny Miller. What concerns me is Rangers letting him go and Wolves left with an even bigger loss.

07 Apr 2024 11:10:19
Think they were robbed of a perfect 'goal'as well. If we're discussing bad officiating surely we should consider this also? Once again we leave our defense open at the back. It's a theme with us we never learn from.

Belfastwolf

1.) 07 Apr 2024 14:34:13
Nice to see Jeff Shi making a statement on all the clearly wrong decisions and the contentious ones that have gone against us this season. Not often I have good words to say about him but on this I'm with him!

Good luck to Wycombe Wanderer's today at Wembley. Chem Campbell and Nigel Lonwijk on loan there are doing well.

2.) 07 Apr 2024 16:44:51
Let's all just wait for the apology and we'll all feel much better after that?

3.) 08 Apr 2024 08:16:20
Good point out Belfast yes the var decision went against us and for us but two needless goals we gave away.

06 Apr 2024 17:07:07
Didn't deserve a point here. Some very silly players out there. Subs were useless.

Belfastwolf

1.) 06 Apr 2024 18:19:21
Doherty was useless today. Cost us the the first goal.

2.) 06 Apr 2024 18:24:42
Cunha is the one who gave it away so easily which led to their break and yes they should have hoofed it out but Cunha had too many stray passes when he came on.

06 Apr 2024 16:38:29
We're playing as if this is a friendly. We don't seem to have a sense of urgency. Tipping and tapping to each other from a matter of three feet. Why did Gomes not play on when Bowen rolled around the pitch? I can only see one outcome here.

Belfastwolf

1.) 06 Apr 2024 16:54:38
Forget Europe now

2.) 06 Apr 2024 16:55:59
Looks like my 8th place prediction didn't age well, 18th is more realistic based on this performance.

What's with these late goals?

3.) 06 Apr 2024 17:02:38
Season over.

4.) 06 Apr 2024 17:11:29
Have they not seen that jwp does that from corners all the time.pathetic.we wer never going to win with that line up and like I said I can see us not winning another game this ssn and finish 12 or13.shame.and a dissapointing end to the ssn ut pro a ly wer we should be anyway our squad just isn't good enuf

5.) 06 Apr 2024 17:17:10
Terrible 2nd half again! What is it with us? After dominating the 1st. Then to finish off losing down to a VAR judgement again just rubs it in. Who in the VAR office could honestly believe that their keeper could have saved it? Even mike dean thought it was a goal. That sort of puts the season to bed bar pride now. Is that 7/8 points with been done for now? Another apology to pin on the wall though I expect, so it's OK isn't it. Cheated.

6.) 06 Apr 2024 17:28:12
As I said. After Coventry defeat
They playing as if it's over for season.think some are on the beach already

7.) 06 Apr 2024 18:27:03
Good job Bournemouth lost they would of gone above us of they had of won.
Was infront at 1 nil.

8.) 07 Apr 2024 11:51:44
Lots of negativity today.
Ait Norri injury was pivotal. The wind was a factor and Antonio starting 2nd half also significant.
Two defensive howlers but first half performance with movement from Sarabia and link play of Rayan and workrate of Tommy, Jao and Mario awesome.
All changed with Rayan injury.
My concern has been Kilman for several weeks, he looks shot.
Let's be positive been a lot better season than we thought if you look back to August. Not ready for Europe.
