Talk on the net of spurs putting 30 million bid in for J.Gomes.

Thoughts on possible outcomes.

He is a gem of a player and one we should be fighting to keep.
Currently irreplaceable in my mind.

If they do we should offer um £20m for Son and see if they take it! Considering we paid £15m for Gomes and he's been excellent so far if we sold him for £30m it would be a fairly damning indictment on how we value our best players. For me Phil, it should take around double that for us to even consider letting him go! But what do I know ?

Considering he still has 4 years on his contract I reckon £30m would buy around 2 thirds of him. I'm ignoring this as clickbait.

Read this yesterday Phil, apparently it prompted newcastle and another club to show interest too. I think a lot of transfer rumours will emerge now, after yesterday's ffp rulings. I hope gomez as the will to stay with us and fosun the will to keep him. I don't think 30m would be enough anyway but spurs have got kanes fees in their pockets.

I always believe that it would take a huge offer for our club to sell any of our top players.

Gomes is young and can only get better and better.

Only doubt in my mind we might sell is because we over loaded in midfield Tommy Doyle needs to play more he may well become a huge huge player.

Just chatting about ifs and buts?

£30m is far far too little for a player we should be building our team round. Cunha, Neto, Lemina and Gomes are currently the heart of the team and show real promise for the future.
Enzo and Caicedo both went for over £100m and Gomes does not look out of place already in that list and he is still growing into the league!
But maybe I am a Wovles fan and over rate our players as I thought Neves was also as good as any of the 3 that went for over £100m recently the aforementioned 2 plus Rice and he only fetched £40m and fraom Saudi!

Eastmids. You're correct on contract plus we have an option for a further year. 30 mil should buy the leg that got the red card, no more than that!

Yes saw that post appear couple of days ago. For £30Mil. No chance I would hope. Also today Arsenal and Liverpool 'battle it out for RAN'
Do their scouts not go outside Wolverhampton.

Thing is though TFG we completely mucked up our contract management with Rueben. The reason the fore mentioned players got a good fee was a) they are younger and b) they had a decent amount of time on their contracts. I suspect it's why they are keeping an eye on Netos contract cause in REAL terms we were actually VERY lucky to get what we did for Rueben, with just one season left on his contract! ?

BB - as usual a v good point.
Although to be honest i'm just not that certain there was any demand for him from the so called big 6 Prem clubs?
Why didn't Chelsea come in for him knowing that we were in no position to negotiate and buy him for les than half what they paid for each of the 2 they did buy? Why didn't Liverpool who reshaped their entire midfield look at him or Man who need to restructure their entire side or Cty who lost Gundongan and had previously lost Fernandinho and now are overly reliant on Rodrigo, etc etc?
Back on the original point though we can only hope that we have learnt our lesson and the club is now run by someone who knows what she/he is doing instead of Jeff!
TBH things do look pretty good at the moment. Clearly we need more depth in the squad and a new first choice CB wouldn't be a bad idea given Dawson's age.
However in CM and certain aspects of the offence (Neto, Cunha and hard to argue with Hwang!) we are strong. At LB we have good options, Semedo is far from the worst RB in the league and I actually have no objections to Sa although accept that many do!
If we can build the off field side of the club as succesfully as we have the on field side this last 12 months under both JL and GON we should be able to generate the income and thus profits required by FFP to compete for a mid table place in the Prem with hopes for the occassional venture further up the table and maybe even the odd season in Europe?.
