The BBC have already updated their League tables which puts Everton on 4 points and equal bottom.

They will stay up anyway but at least they have been punished.

Wow. Just checked the table and yes adjusted already. Vindicates the decisions made in the summer and hopefully stands us in nice position come summer 2024. Now the PL has made this statement how many other clubs will be panicking, Chelsea, Forest, definitely.

I very much like Neville Southall's take on the punishment. His view is the rules were broken irrespective of what any other club has done so you just suck it up take it on the chin and get on with getting the points to stay in the Premier League. Refreshing instead of doom and gloom! Right attitude, done wrong so go and put it right.

Good article in the Athletic by Steve Madeley on Gary O'Neil's first hundred days in charge. A very good insight in how he's changed things around and the trust he's put in the players. A good read I thought.

Agreed Ken but if the League had dealt with this last season when this came to light Everton would be in the Championship now.

This rubs salt in the wounds of the club's that were relegated plus Burnley from the season before when most of this actually occured

I heard it lunchtime Neville Southall too.
I think exactly the same as you Ken.
Will read Steve Madeley article in the athletic at a later time.
But nice one Ken for posting about it as I may of missed it otherwise.

Probably correct Deep, it maybe a low points total will be required to stay up this season.

Bet it's reduced to 3 points on appeal.

Longmynd.
I would agree that action taken sooner would have been much better but with accounts taking a long time to prepare and all the legal aspects having to be checked. It's hardly surprising that the process is more complicated than we think. It would be wonderful if a committee could sit every season and sort things out but not that easy.
A government ombudsman would not improve things anyway just add another level to the process and become another layer of jobs for the boys, we have enough of that already.

To be fair to the Premier League Ken they did want it heard last year. It was the independent committee that couldn't meet that timescale
