Plus a £50K fine Rated, admitted to 272 separate offences from 2017 to 2021, which begs the question why? Just won his first England cap and now can't play until Jan 24.

Can't see any details yet of what he's supposed to have actually done wrong. Presumably it will come out in full.

If it was just that Doog there'd be a large queue of pro's awaiting a hearing. Must be much more to it.

How can a 8 month ban be given and for 3 months football is not being played what sort of punishment is that for 232 offenses O I forgot he is a footballer.

As mentioned above, Baza, we need to understand exactly what the charges are before we can comment with any kind of authority.Betting itself is hardly a sin.

Old- it is a sin for footy players fella, stringent new rules were bought in a while back to prevent all players from betting on footy (even games outside of there own league). The charge is entirely for betting offences (nothing else) but you have to think of why they bought in harsh rules preventing players betting. It's not because they are the morality police it's because MANY players have exploited the privileged position they are in (both in terms of on pitch and in the loop with transfers). Anyone remember Kieran Trippiers move to Athletico?! He got a 10 week ban and £70k fine because he basically text his friend telling him we was definitely moving and not surprisingly his mate put a hefty bet on the transfer which then paid out! I don't think (from what I've read) Toney was actually betting on things he had info or control over but you can see why the FA have to have a strong approach! Back in the day players on their way out of clubs weren't adverse to chucking a cheeky wad of cash on themselves to get sent off and would then just dive in two footed at the first oppo! It's not about the gambling (the FA don't have enough morales for that:) it's about integrity and in fairness they aren't wrong with the approach. I would just echo others here mind, they've been VERY generous waiting till now to issue the ban as it takes a lot of the sting out the 8 months ?

It’s not just players. I’m certain it’s players, managers, coaches, back room staff. pretty much anyone involved in football is prohibited from betting on the game.
