It looks like we have now signed 3 defenders so far - but are they any better than Stearman and Williamson? Please, please let's have at least one proven goal scorer and an attacking central mid fielder ( oh yes and a decent keeper)

It's been reported we've signed Phil ofusu Ayeh a right back.

3.) 20 Jun 2017

I don't quite get why some are excited by Phil Ofosu Ayeh joining. He has never played at the top level in Germany and never played higher than the 2nd tier. Is the German 2nd tier better than the Championship? He may develop into a good player but surely we should be looking at better players than this.

4.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 08:37:48
He's also been relegated twice and his contract wasn't renewed end of last year. I also think we should be aiming higher.

Its got pics of him signing so think it's official from Shropshire news e ands s miss out again hahaha.

Restricted to 17 appearances last year and been injured for most of the last 2 years. Inspired signing.

7.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 09:40:05
Stats also say he can't cross the ball, he can't pass the ball but can hold the ball. Isn't that what we're trying to get rid of 😭.

8.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 09:57:44
Story is that Huddersfield were also interested in Phil Ayeh. They are very shrewd so they must see something in him.

9.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 10:16:04
Or Huddersfield decided they didn't want him.

10.) 20 Jun 2017

Slated b4 he's kicked a ball. nothibg changes with our FIFA coaching badge qualified fans 😂😂.

One man don't get teams relegated thts why it's could a team.

12.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 10:46:49
No one's slating him. We're just saying it's disappointing that we're looking at players from the lower German leagues when we're expecting bigger and better than we've already got or players with experience.

13.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 10:56:40
Now that he's signed, let's get behind him a spur him on. Hopefully he'll be like a newer George Elokobi only playing on the right. Seems that he's a defender who first and foremost likes to defend rather than trying to play his way out of defence.

14.) 20 Jun 2017

Just like to point out Jas M that huddersfield signed the majority of their signings last summer from the German second division

Elias Kachunga- Top scorer for them- FC Ingolstadt
Chris Lowe- Kasisersleuten -defender
Christopher Schindler- 1860 Munich- Defender
Michael Hefele- Dynamo Dresenden- Defender

all played 40+ games for them and can you remind me what league they'll be playing in next season? But yeah should definetly look at bigger and better then the german second division.

15.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 11:20:19
Good point Sbrek but can I point out that last season we signed Costa and Cav and Silvio who played Champions league football the season before and JDB who had an excellent Euro's. Sometimes it's about getting the team spirit right not just buying good players. Hopefully Ofosu Ayeh, although not the marquee signing we were all hoping for, will fit into a system instilled by Nuno with a definitive game plan leading to a stable team like Huddersfield last season.

16.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 11:43:21
I'm struggling to see the point your getting at in your reply Jas M mate, as I was just basically pointing out that buying players from certain levels doesn't guarantee quality as the players I mentioned came from relatively low key and unknown sources but worked fantastically. As you were initally saying we should be looking at targets from bigger reputable sources? As you say it's all about having the right ethic within the team and club regardless of prior experience.

It's ridiculous that new signings are getting rubbished before they've even kicked a ball for Wolves. Huddersfield were tipped by bookies for relegation last season. Must have been all those second division Germans they signed! Big names and big money are no guarantee. I remember us paying big money for Roger Johnson, and he was even gutted Arsenal hadn't come in for him! Lucky Arsenal.

18.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 12:24:12
Phil ofusu sounds a good signing what we've got to remember a lot of players don't want to play in the championship if he's good enough to get us up but not good enough for prem then sell him on.

19.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 12:40:35
Sbrek, I'm saying the same as you. i.e big names don't necessarily guarantee success. You pointed out how Huddersfield did it, I merely pointed out that we went in the other direction and got it wrong.

20.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 13:40:02
We bought in the wrong coaches, Huddersfield got theirs bang on! Let's hope this coach is the real deal. 👍.

21.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 13:45:22
Apparently Wolves are trying to sign Steven Pienaar. Good player, or at least he was a few years ago. He is 35 now. Just wondering if he could do a job for us in Championship for a season? I don't see why not.

22.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 13:52:34
If Thelwell says they have been watching him for a good while, we will wait and see what he as sighned, they seam to trust Thelwell with the free transfers that come in but the only one that cost the 2 to 3 million was brought in by Neno.
I now its early days but when are we going to get a striker and creative midfielder, these are the positions we want urgently else we are going nowere again and they need to spend some money to get these positions sorted because free transfers is going to get we in trouble, we have got money so let's spend it on some quality and get into premier.

23.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 14:03:06
Basically we have signed a specialist RB. When did we last have one and not a player converted from another position?

24.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 14:04:26
We now need a specialist LB.

25.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 14:15:09
Coady, Iorfa, Silvio, Docherty, Bennett (who can play here) all good right backs, yet NO specialist left back. Please someone tell me the logic in this new signing. Yet again we are making changes in areas that are totally pointless.

26.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 14:11:21
Coady, Iorfa, Silvio, Docherty, Ayeh, Marshall and Bennett. That's 7 right backs! Only 2 of those can actually play on the left. Great recruitment, guys 👍.

27.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 14:40:14
Coady - CM, Iorfa - RB / CB, Silvio - LB, Doherty, RB / LB, Marshall - RM and Bennett - CB

Correct me if I'm wrong on those positions but if we are looking to keep Doherty as a LB and keep Silvio we have 2 LB, we've signed a RB so that makes Iorfa and new lad 2 RBs, the others aren't natural RBs so your 7 is wide of the mark and seems to me like your moaning for moaning sake.

28.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 17:01:17
🤔 Silvio/ Doc/ Ayeh are right backs. Iorfa and Coady are basically only used as right backs and Marshall was brought in by Lambert to play as right back. Bennett has played for Norwich at right back. I understand Marshall can play in other positions and Doc can play on the left, but the whole point was to get Doc back on the right because he leaves far too many defensive gaps, being right footed. You do the maths, mate. This signing makes very little sense.

29.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 17:34:50
From everything I've read, it seems unlikely that PO-A will be first choice RB.

Will Coady stay? He's done nothing wrong, but having slipped into RB from our overcrowded midfield, where else does he go now?

30.) 20 Jun 2017
20 Jun 2017 18:05:05
If this guy is any good and we sell and get a few million for iorfa then fair enough. It will allow us to use that money, hopefully, on a goal scorer.

31.) 21 Jun 2017
21 Jun 2017 15:29:16
Silvio played majority of his games at Left Back, Doherty played majority of his games Left Back and both played well there. Bennett is primarily a CB and has been brought as a CB, Marshall played majority of his games in a RW position or CAM position. Personally I think Doherty has been better as a Left Back than a Right Back.

From what I've read about Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, he is a Physical Quick Attacking Full Back with not many weaknesses. So the signing makes a lot of sense to me. Most managers want 2 per position for competition and at the moment we have that:

RB - Ofosu-Ayeh Iorfa
CB - Batth Hause Miranda Bennett
LB - Silvio Doherty.
