Everton and West Ham are supposed to be heavily scouting costa for a summer move, he apparently has a £25 million release clause.

Might be worth letting him go for that type of wedge'we have Zyro&Graham to come back and they are good quality, solid players, ideal world we could hang on to him, but we still need 2 quality centre backs, a midfielder'if PL doesn't like Saiss and a 15/ 20 goal a seaason striker,25 mil would get 3 at minimum and possibly the 4 at a push.

JimmyJones why would Lambert sell the best player in our club in the summer when we'll be challenging for promotion and plus aren't Fosun giving Lambert 30 million to spend. So I theory we have more than enough.

06 Feb 2017 18:40:29
Why would you sell your best player when you've a greater ambition, to get promoted to the PL and win it? Why would you? Hmm! There was me thinking what we actually need are at least another 10 players of the same calibre as Mr Costa!

Seams we keep shooting ourselves in the foot, effort is there but is that enough you cannot keep beating the top sides then losing to average sides and our home record as got to be sorted out we are only 7 points off safety and although we have 5 games coming at home counting the cup game against chelsea we have to make these count and get clear of relegation and I'm afraid build for next year because it's clear to everyone we need 2 strikers for next season some creativity players in midfield and centre half without these players we will make the same mistakes over and over again.

Ronan and Gibbs White may well save the midfield problem. They both seem like they want to go forward and feed the strikers, something we have missed for years. If so, it should help Dicko score again. I'd also like to see Burgoyne replace Ikeme permanently.

I can't remember the name, but we also have a promising young centre back coming through. This would be perfect, too.

I'm glad to see the MD stating we haven't bought Costa to sell him in the summer! We have the money and if we have the ambition the sort of players we need in a number of positions need to be a couple of levels up from the past! When that happens we will see movement in the right direction.

I realise there's the fair play league that we have to adhere to, however, deals constructed in the right way would enable us to manage this. It's quality, quality, quality that's required. It's got to start here and now. ⚽️👍😉.

U keep your best players and build round them! Not rocket science jimmyjones.

I realy hope Costa stays for another season, then if we don't go up you cannot blame him then for leaving, but we have to start getting the team sorted out for him to stay, we are still a long way from a promotion side if I am being honest as much as I like our commitments especially against the better teams we cannot keep taking 1 step forward and 2 back, that was a sickener to lose to Burton no disrespect to them but it was like ground hog day again them scoring last kick like they did at the molineux, how many points have we throwed away last minutes in a game the list just goes on and on.
And the striker problem when are we going to get a 15 to 20 goal striker or strikers in our team that will take the pressure off, midfield no creativity, lots of graft but average players, defence need a centre half similar to Williamson if he is not playing to sort the back four out.

9.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 12:05:32
We need to keep our best players if we are to move forward but if like amsterdamwolf says if he has got a release clause in his contract then its up to Mr Costa to decide if he wants to stay and remember there is no loyalty in football anymore only MONEY.

10.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 12:20:40
PT, as good as Costa is'and he's one of the best I've seen in our colours'he isn't going to get us promoted on his own, if the defence and midfield are below par and failing to deal with the same problems and mistakes, game in game out then we aren't going anywhere'as I stated, ideally keep him, and add the quality players to the area's I suggested'if that's not possible use the money from his sale to get the 3or4 players that could give us better quality and hard bitten edge'all over the pitch that's currently missing from the squad.

11.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 13:16:31
Money isn't the problem were not run by Morgan and Moxey. Costa must stay for another season at least and 4 or 5 players added of his quality. As I've said before Fosun are a conglomerate who can use other branches ie med playa cirque de soleil etc to get round financial fair play.

12.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 13:26:08
Agree 100% Paul however money talks and if there is a release clause triggered in his contract then he will leave because someone who is willing to pay 25/ 30 million for him will double if not treble his wages.

13.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 16:39:51
I think the best person that can come through our academy this season is Ennis I know I said this last season but he will definitely be able to replace dicko in my opinion. I don't want a completely young side we need some players with experience Edwards is a prime example. For targets we need some people who can feed the ball through. Ronan is a good example but I prefer him on the wing.

14.) 07 Feb 2017
07 Feb 2017 17:36:28
PT has got it right! We have to keep Costa if we are to attract other players of his quality! It all goes down the tube if he goes. Fosun stated they have very ambitious plans for the club. To achieve those ambitions a lot more quality has to be added and a number of departures will happen.

their ambitions go beyond just getting into the premier league. personally I believe their will be many changes in personnel over the next 2 years. If there isn't we won't be moving anywhere too quickly! ⚽️👍😉.

Still cannot get over that game against Burton thought we were getting over those silly defensive mistakes then that happens, you would never think in a million years that was the side that beat Liverpool well we cannot blame Bathe this time he didn't play.
Were do we go from here seams to me we have players who give 100 per cent but are truly average players, the striker, midfield and defender situations as gone on to long for me now we need to sort it out for next season it's the spine of the team were we are lacking and until this as been sorted we will just be an average side who will play one good game in three.

16.) 08 Feb 2017
08 Feb 2017 09:16:54
Wish everybody would chill out .
We win a game we are brilliant
We lose a game we are the worst team ever and it's somebody's fault.
It's football losses to "Burton" happen to everybody.
Rome wasn't built in a day.

I agree with Wavid about Ronan and Gibss-White. We've been playing too much from midfield, with strikers little more than the front line of midfield. If we can feed the ball to Bod or whoever more frequently then we should see more of those turn-shoot-score goals we all love. Many of our goals come from set pieces and from crosses along a 5-man front line. Let's mix it up a bit!

18.) 08 Feb 2017
08 Feb 2017 19:21:48
Love me Wolves
Aye rocket science is it
Sell Costa for a huge profit
Let Lambo loose with a 40 mill warchest
game over.

19.) 08 Feb 2017
08 Feb 2017 19:22:45
The problem is we have players who run the front line, yet players who sit too deep in the second line (Evans, Saville, Price) . Good teams don't need to 'protect' the defence because it should be good enough to.

The other problem is that none of these players are quick enough to keep up with the wingers, nor able to pass accurately enough to find them. The creates a noticeable 'hole' in the middle which Dave Edwards runs around trying to backtrack (like marathon man) . We have had this problem for far too long now and it's about time Thelwell and co did something about it.

Also, bringing in a '20 goals a season striker' won't fix the problem. Dicko, Edwards and Bod would score us the goals with the service Evans, Price and Saville should be giving them (unfortunately they are truly awful, awful league one players) .

In short, we need two new midfielders and two new centre halves. And when I say this, I don't just mean lads from league one or a youth system. I'm talking about ex premiership quality, players who have been worth £10 million plus at some point during their careers.

This is what will need to happen if Fosun really are serious about getting promotion next year. Talk of promotion is completely laughable with our current midfield and the current pick the name out of a hat (Batth, Stears, Iorfa, Hause or Williamson) scenario we have every week.

20.) 08 Feb 2017
08 Feb 2017 20:54:32
Wavidsmith I completely agree I was at the Sheffield Wednesday game in which Edwards was a headless Chicken with all the running he was doing we need Saiss to come back and play the same role price does only add something extra but another midfielder who is really good at the moment is what we need Saiss to pair up with. Then our back line is sorted as well as are passing up front.

21.) 09 Feb 2017
08 Feb 2017 23:37:29
It's so easy to see, isn't it? Yet, for some reason, the last window was used to secure 3 more wingers! How many wingers does one club need, ? We have 7 excellent wingers now, by my reckoning.

You are right, Saiss should be used ahead of the others, but I've got this horrible feeling PL will dispense of him in favour of plodder Price and co. I will be soooo mad if the club brings no new quality midfielders or centre halves in this summer but even more mad if we keep some of the current rubbish we have had at Wolves for far too long.

Leicester - Premier League Champions
Kante protecting back 4
Chelsea - Premier League Champions a few years ago
Makelele protecting back 4
Barcelona - "best team in world"
Busquets protecting back 4
Swansea - rising through the leagues
Britton protecting back 4
Liverpool - Champions League Winners
Xabi Alonso protecting back 4
Chelsea now
Kante protecting back 4

Modern football isn't about 442 and simple tactics anymore, a holding midfielder is now as important as a clinical striker, with how important attacking full backs are becoming a holding midfielder will cover for them.

23.) 09 Feb 2017
09 Feb 2017 11:19:30
Agree StuuCorbett as is showin with Leicester now, kante goes Chelsea they prosper Leicester go downhill. But that player who does the job of protecting the back 4 must be QUALITY.

24.) 09 Feb 2017
09 Feb 2017 13:46:20
Yes one holding midfielder, not two like us lol. Those players mentioned above also have more ability in their little finger than Price and Savlon have in their entire body.

Like I said, if Saiss was brought in to do that job, i really hope PL doesn't overlook him in favour of those two plodders.

25.) 10 Feb 2017
10 Feb 2017 18:00:29
I wasn't comparing them to any wolves player. All I was getting at was that a holding midfielder is important. Jack Price is by far our best holding midfielder, he keeps the ball and keeps play moving creates a link between defence and midfield, and covers for out of positioned players. He is plenty good enough for a top end Championship team and is still young enough to develop his game.
For me Price suits the premier league more than the championship as did Leon Britton as they are not blessed with physicality and strength.

26.) 11 Feb 2017
11 Feb 2017 13:58:08
Price is far better than Evans or Saville (er, who isn't? ), but definitely NOT Premiership standard, lol. He'd never get into the Brighton or Newcastle team, either.

If Price plays, you need a very substantial midfielder next to him that can drive forward. We currently don't have one of those.
